Yorkshire Collie Club 23/2/20205

I would like to start by saying what a fabulous show this was. The new venue is spot on for hosting dog shows as there is plenty of space , a good hallway with space to sit, big kitchen and lots of parking with a large recreational area behind it to exercise the dogs. The committee work so well together to keep everything running smoothly whilst hosting a relaxed and enjoyable day for exhibitors. It was an honour to be invited down. I was blown away by how well supported the show was and well attended on the day. Thank you everyone.

Overall I found mouths pleasing, temperaments good and some really quality exhibits. I did however encounter quite a few short tails.

Class 1 Baby puppy d/b (5 , 2a)
I feel the importance of this class lie’s in the experience created for the babies. I was delighted to meet this trio at their first shows and all did splendidly.  
1st Hawkins Brilyn’s Breckamore Crystal Embers. Very pretty 5 month old sable and white puppy, Won me over with her gorgeous melting expression thanks to her dark brown, nicely shaped and placed eyes and excellent ears.  Head classically wedge shaped and balanced. Different type to 2 so a little bit smaller currently but in proportion and balanced. Sparkling white collar accentuates her neck and shape. Moved well for age.

2nd Gatt’s Wicani Belladonna. 5 month old tri female. Another fabulous baby puppy I didn’t like to have to chose between these 2, both very different and with lots of merits. In the end the eye and expression of the sable won me over. This puppy has a nice wedge shaped head with a pleasing expression for a baby tricolour. She was full of beans and so lovely to see. Her Flashy white collar really shows off a lovely powerful arched neck of good length. Moving well for a baby as her construction front and back is in perfect balance, with correct angles. She stands on good strong legs made of good quality bone.
3rd French’s Breckamore Paddington. 5 month old sable boy.

Class 2 Special Beginner d/b (5)

1st ,RBD ,Crawford’s Stregato foolish guy for Delseirios Upstanding 3 year old sable and white male. A dog I have judged a couple of times and each time I have found him to improve with maturity. Bigger made dog with a longer head type. His head is of good length, a little deeper in skull than ideal but correctly wedge shaped and his head fits his frame perfectly. To be picky I would like his ears to tip a little bit more, but they are well placed and tip well enough to provide a nice expression which is full of alertness and intelligence. This dog has a ring presence that commands attention, due to his fabulous shape and structure. He stands with impassive dignity. Combining the most powerful true movement, exceptional conformation and a great temperament I could not deny him RBD. He is of good body for his age, filling out nicely and in good hard condition. He moves with such grace and lightness yet his rear looks powerful at all times with good length in his reach and keeping parallel in the hocks.

2nd Rose’s Beldones Clementine Avec Coloratura. 3 year old sable and white  female. Pretty girl with a good wedge shaped head and well placed ears which tip nicely, lovely warm expression. She is a girl of good size and length, very well muscled standing on good bone and feet. Lacking somewhat in rear angulation, with a straighter stifle causing her to be a little high In the rear and incorrect foot placement when free standing. Covers the ground with free, easy movement.

Class 3 Veteran Dog (4, 2a)

1st , BVD, BVIB, Mill’s Lynmack Starman at Lemivee. 9 year old sable and white male. In the challenge for BVIB I could not deny him the BVIB win as the female could not quite match his power and footfall, he kept his hocks parallel at all times and moved with such purpose. In his class I preferred his head shape, body length and movement. Good wedge shape to his head, parallel planes , a flat skull and a  well filled muzzle and correct eye placement and shape, dark brown to portray a lovely expression. Ears set is a little wide. Good length to body, neck could be a tad longer if being picky.He is like a fine wine, this dog gets better with age and he is not showing any signs of aging , retaining his substance , muscle tone and excellent movement, long in stride and powerful in the rear while tracking well coming and going.

2nd Boyle’s Barrenclough Heart of Gold jw. Just over 7 and a half years old. Richly coloured, masculine boy.  Shorter bodied , for me a little square. A masculine head,  lovely wedge shaped, good planes and muzzle fill with a strong jaw and a sweet eye and good earset giving a lovely expression. I find his scapula to be slightly shorter and he comes forward rather wide. Rear angulation is better and hocks are nice and short but need to be trimmed in more to assess his movement going away as there is an illusion of the hocks coming in to close.

Class 4 Minor Puppy Dog (2, 1a)

1st , BPD, BPIB, Randall’s Ladnar call my name. 6 month old blue merle. What a fabulous puppy. Masculine in head, pleasing wedge shape and balanced with a very well filled foreface, parallel head planes and well placed stop. To be picky his ears are needing to lift a bit more to achieve the desired placement and 1/3 tip but he is still just a baby and ears change a lot at this age. He has a nice eye with a knowing expression. Reasonable length of neck which crests to create a beautiful outline. Strong straight legs with fabulous bone and the most wonderfully arched feet, I found him well bodied with a good depth of chest and filling in the forecast. Correct shoulder lay and a balanced rear. This puppy moved well in all directions, strong and true covering the ground easily.
In the puppy challenge i found both puppies moved very well and I just preferred his head shape, as he is broader and better filled.

Class 5 Puppy Dog (2)

1st  Tilley’s Gemheid May’d of Amber for Detillio. 9 month old sable and white. More mature than the second, moved slightly better and stood more parallel in the rear. At times he was unsure with a bit of reluctance to show me his ears. He presents a lovely shape and outline.  He is of good size. I liked his head shape, good length and depth with a well placed slight stop , rounded muzzle and expressive eyes. Ears were good when he chose to use them. Good body for age, straight front legs and good bend in stifle with short hocks. His rear needs to strengthen and movement tidy up in all directions, currently he is not tracking in front, going away his feet kick out a little . Things will improve with age as his growing slows down and he becomes more conditioned and also gains more confidence.

2nd Randall’s Ladnar Call Me Maybe. 6 month old blue merle. Handsome and maculine. Has a lot of similarity to his brother especially head properties but also a few key differences in his current stage of development. Not as sure of himself he can stand rather wide at the rear and pushes his head back a lot which takes away from his profile. He is unsure as he moves and this reflects in how he moves, at times kicking his back feet out but he does eventually start to pull in more and parallel. Superb substance and again, the most excellent feet.
Class 6 Junior dog (2)
1st  Boyd, Gallagher & McGill’s Gemheid May'd in black with stregato. 9 month old tricolour. A big masculine boy for 9 months. A stronger head than 2, of good length but deeper than ideal in skull. Strong, well made jaw. I would like a sweeter eye but he does have a nice expression and very well placed tipped ears. Another lovely elegant shape, he is a dog of good size and excellent structure. Correct shoulder lay, strong legs of good bone and a well made body, good rear angulation. Occasionally he can tuck his back legs under which can imbalance is profile. Movement is effortless, excellent reach and drive with good drive. Construction and movement is to be admired.
2nd Gatt’s Imaginist Superior Sun. 17 month old sable and white. I preferred the head and eye on this dog, I found him to be very attractive with correct head planes, a lovely wedge shaped head and good round muzzle and nice dark , correctly shaped and well placed eye giving a true collie expression. I found his front to be better constructed than his rear, good length of neck and body , depth to ribcase and filling of forechest. Could not match the movement of the class winner.

Class 8 Graduate Dog (5)
1st Farthing’s Didek Once in a Blue Moon. 2 Year old blue merle of good colour. Shapely blue dog, sweeping lines of elegance head to toe. He is of good length in body. Head is of a very good shape with well placed tipped ears and a lovely eye, I liked his expression. Nice length of neck flowing into a well laid shoulder. Bodying up well for age. Good bend of stifle and rear angulation. Moved reasonably in all directions. Just a tad over keen on his bait/toy.
2nd Ross’s Siluto Blue Wizzard at Amberwish. Just gone 2 years old blue merle. Another attractive merle dog, I preferred the ear carriage of 1. Masculine dog, with a pleasing head, good strong jaw and well filled underjaw , correctly placed stop with lovely eye and expression. It will be nice to see this dog when he is no longer In the junior stage of development and more mature.
3rd Gelder’s Libanel Erebus Eternal Love.

Class 9 Post Graduate Dog (3,2a)
1st Crawford’s Stregato foolish guy for Delseirios. Special beginner class winner.
2nd Dix Barrenclough Diamond Skies. 5 year old sable. Attractive, richly coloured sable just couldn’t match the construction and movement of 1. Good size  and a good length of neck. Very nice expression on this boy.

Class 10 Limit Dog (4,2a)
1st , BD, BOB, Wray-Ramsden’s Takhisis Daggers at Dawn JW. 20 month old sable. He is wearing a nice ,fitted jacket of good texture and is richly coloured. This boys shape and expression with an edge on movement won his class, and his head and expression took him to Best dog. I liked his head shape, wedge shaped and balanced with correct ears and a really beautiful eye. Elegant outline with a good length to his neck, excellent body length to height ratio and an arch over his loin. In body he is not quite there yet, needing more depth of chest and filling of forecest but he is developing well for the age and stage he is at. Angulation front and back are correct, good bone and muscle throughout allowed him to stand with balance and move with balance, moving well in all directions. In the BOB challenge the fact he had just woken up from a long snooze in his crate reflected in his movement initially and so I asked them to repeat their sequence before eventually making my decision. He moved a lot smarter than the female.
2nd Ingledene Dark Moon Risin over Detillio. 3 and a half year old tricolour male. I really liked this boy, he is honest and not over done. He was called back in to the challenge and In the end I was really drawn to the shape and exceptional movement of post grad winner/ special beginner , that’s not to say this boy doesn’t move well as he covers the ground well with ease, light and effortless in footfall. I found him very appealing , super shape of head of correct blunt wedge with rounded muzzle and combined with a nicely shaped and placed eye, I liked his expression but preferred that of the first. He is of good body length, correct angulations and balanced in profile and when moving. He moves well in all directions. Loved his coat , gleaming black and of excellent condition and texture.
Class 11 Open dog (1,1a) absent

Class 12 Veteran Bitch (5, 1a)
1st , BVB, RBVIB , Collino’s Imaginist Willow wren. A very pretty 8.5yrs old tri colour. Another veteran showing no signs of age catching up with her. I preferred her head, she as a sweet eye and a gorgeous expression. Blunt wedge in shape, well filled in muzzle and balanced, topped with great ears correctly placed and tipped. Good length of neck, covered with a gleaming white collar. Balanced throughout, excellent angulation front and back. Retaining good body condition and still moving well in all directions but lost out in the veteran challenge due to kicking out the back feet. Her coat is jet black and gleaming, fitting her body perfectly and of good texture.
2nd Harvey’s Wicanin Enraptured. Hard to believe the age of this refined sable girl,  at 12 years old she is still moving so well, showing no sign of age slowing her down or causing her troubles. I did prefer the head of 1, who had more stop and a better shaped eye, but this girl has a bright, alert expression and well placed and tipped ears. I was blown away by her overall condition including her mouth! Shapely and elegant with a powerful, arched neck she still stands on strong straight legs and good strength in her well angulated rear allowed her to float around the ring.
3rd Whitaker’s Siluto Mysterious Girl. Just turned 7 years old, blue merle.

Class 13 Minor Puppy Bitch (2, 1a)
1st Congdon’s Aaronwell Another Love. 6 month old blue merle. A nice baby of good proportions , wedge shaped head, good head planes and a sweet eye and expression. I would prefer a touch more length to her neck. She stands on good strong straight legs , well off for bone and good feet. Well bent stifles and short hocks. She was unsure when in her class but moved well once we found her preferred place on the mat. Just needs to grow in confidence.
Class 14 Puppy Bitch (3, 1a)
1st , BPB. Boyd and Mcgill’s Gemheid May'd of gold for Stregato. 9 month old sable and white, glorious and rich in colour. Well sized for age this girl is another who takes your eye when standing in profile, standing up tall and looking strong, hocks parallel and supportive at all times. She won her class due to her movement. Her head is of good length and correct parallel planes but is currently a bit lean and I would prefer a sweeter eye. I would like to see her when her head has started to fill out more, as she is an attractive female. Her head is topped with great ears, superb length of neck and is strong yet shapely and elegant in body. Well off for bone, strong in loin and excellent angulations front and back. Tracked in well coming forward and parallel hocks with strong drive going away, effortless reach in front.
2nd Wray-Ramsden’s Takhisis Xtraordinary Lady Bw24, Be jnr ch. Almost 1 year old tri colour. Another shapely girl. Pretty and feminine with a lovely head and eye and superb ears. Nice length of neck and wearing a beautiful jet black coat over her well made body. Front and back angulation are decent. Standing she can be a little to wide on the back legs and on moving comes just a bit to close in the hocks. This should change as she matures and can take more exercise and strengthen up.

Class 15 Junior Bitch (2)
1st Wray-Ramsden’s Takhisis Xtraordinary Lady Bw24, Be jnr ch. Previous class. Won this class as moving better than the other girl and I felt body was of better proportions.
2nd Collino’s Imaginist My Fair Lady. 17 month old sable and white. Another attractive female. Elegant, with a good length of head and lovely eye shape and ear set and expression, she has a powerful neck and good shoulder placement. Body a touch to long. Excellent feet. Moves ok, could reach further and not quite managing to track in correctly in front, running a little close in rear.
Class 16 Maiden Bitch (2, 1a)
1st Rodwell’s Ladnar Yourstruly at Pomnenka. 2 year old Pretty blue merle, correct wedge shaped head with blunted muzzle, good fill to foreface and jaw. Finer made in bone and body hasn’t reached maturity yet which is telling of front movement due to needing more depth of chest and forechest. She reaches well infront. Movement is a bit wobbly in the rear needing to build some strength and muscle.

Class 17 Graduate Bitch (7, 3a)
1st Harvey’s Afterhero Cheeky Angel at Wicani (imp hun). 21 month old blue merle. What a really beautiful girl. I struggled to bypass her, dithering between her, my BB and eventual RBB. Her head is wonderful, of good length and well blunted wedge shaped, well shaped and placed eyes and ears. I would have liked her ears tip more.  She was well schooled and presented a perfect silhouette standing, a picture of balance. Beautifully arched neck enhancing her elegant shape. To be picky I would like just a little bit more of her all Over. She moves like a bullet , covering the ground easily and lightly and showing convergence with straight front legs and parallel hocks however on occasion came in just a little closer than ideal. It would be better if she could drop her head a little bit as she drives forward in order to complete the extension she is clearly built to have but this was I believe her first show and therefore she was quite alert, particularly in the challenge. Very little can be said of this blue girl that is negative. What a gem to be in someone’s kennel. I hope to see more of her in the ring going forward.
2nd Whitaker’s Siluto Silvery Blue Moon. 2 year old blue merle. It was close between these girls, but she was out moved and I would prefer ears slightly higher set to complete her lovely balanced head. Head of good length and good filling of muzzle, nicely rounded, blunt wedge in shape. Well made body, good for bone with good front and rear angulation and correct height to length ratio. Covers the ground with ease.
3rd Boyle’s Timeless Destiny Star Actis over Barrenclough JW (imp pol).

Class 18 Post Graduate Bitch (5, 1a)
1st Whitaker’s Siluto Blueberry Mist. 2 year old blue merle. A lot of similarity to her litter sister but this girl has slightly better ear placement with more desired tip. Head of good length, head planes correct and desired depth, I preferred this exhibits head shape and length to 2. Moved well in all directions.
2nd Boyle’s Timeless Destiny Star Actis over Barrenclough JW (imp pol). 21 months old sable and white, glorious colour of sable. Shorter , deeper head type than 1, I would like ears to place a bit higher this female still makes for an attractive girl, very feminine. Well built body and of good bone, good front and rear angulation. She can move very well in all directions however greater care should be taken on sharp turns.
3rd Rose’s Beldones Clementine Avec Coloratura.

Class 19 Limit Bitch (3, 2a)
1st Rose’s Uffspring Ultravox For Coloratura. Almost 6 year old tricolour. A really nice, mature female with elegance and femininity whilst being well made and strong in body. Super shaped head, scores well in depth, muzzle fill and parallel head planes and a sweet , kind expression. Being picky I would like ears to sit a tiny bit higher with more of a tip to them. Very good angulation front and back, another who can move well. On occasion just came a little close in hocks. Coat is jet black and nicely fitting and she is in excellent condition.

Class 20 Open bitch (5, 2a)
1st , BB, RBOB. Gib Ch Serenlas Angel of Casatentola. 3 year old tricolour. A cheeky and exuberant young lady I have judged  3 now, once as a puppy 2 years ago, again as a junior and then again today. She has upgraded herself each time in her wins. I find her so endearing. The perfect combination of her beautiful head, expression and temperament. Her expression is melting, sweet and gentle with a hint of mischief as she is a very friendly and outgoing young lady. Construction wise she is so well put together with everything just where it should be. She can sometimes look a bit longer cast due to her profuse coat over the croup and down her tail and skirt but beneath the coat this is not true and you only need to look at how she stands herself and holds herself together on the move , moving correctly in all directions to see she is correct in length and very well balanced. In profile she has such an elegant shape of sweeping lines from nose to tail, rising gently over the loin which is broad enough and strong enough to hold her together so well and allow free easy movement and turns, perfect footfall in side profile and straight drive with parallel hocks going away, reaching easily in front. When she moves well she moves true however she can be a bit silly , her virtues apparent when she settles down coming and going. Better in her class and showing me enough in the bitch challenge. She threw away the BOB challenge by being a bit silly, not keen on a few areas of the floor and just full of beans.
2nd ,RBB. Wray-Ramsden’s Takhisis Lady of mystery Bw24. 3 year old sable. I have admired this girl ringside. She is a very true, honest collie who in profile has a really nice shape and creates picture of strength and balance. I appreciate she is still coming back to her best after puppies and not in full bloom with her coat yet. On occasion she was not distributing her weight evenly on the free stand which detracted from her overall picture when standing alongside the class winner who was standing proud commanding attention. She is of nice proportions. Head is balanced, of Correct planes, good depth and breadth with an ideal amount of correctly placed stop, fabulous ears and nicely shaped dark eyes create a wonderful sweet expression full of intelligence. Strong , arched neck flows into well laid shoulders with a good depth of chest for heart and lung room , correct length of body and well angulated rear combined with good feet allow this girl to move very well, tracking nicely in front with long reach, powerful behind and covering the ground with ease in all directions, agile and effortless.
