Breed Judge Karen Mc Devitt ( Caronlea )
Judging The breed today pleasantly surprised me … infact with today’s entry I feel a step forward . Now this breed has still a long way to go . If you are breeder you must select your breeding bitches and stud dogs more carefully . Do not double up on serious faults . We need to be careful with temperaments , cow hocks and recently creeping back in square dogs with short legs .This is so far from the elegant Rough Collie. If judging this breed please do not turn a blind eye to such serious faults and reward it . I was so pleased with all my main winners congratulations to all

Class 535. Puppy DogEntries: 2 Absentees: 1st Place8502 - Ballahanna Betrayed (Mr L Kelly).
A very nice start to my day with this young sable and white. Almost a year old very glamorous and no denying his gender . He is in the most wonderful coat and condition which was beautifully presented . He is a good size young male with substance which many lacked today . He has a excellent character moved out soundly in all directions with the correct tail set. At this stage of development his head needs more time to fill and finish . Although it is the correct length I would like a little more strength in under jaw and a little more fill under the eye . To be critical I would like a little more length of back as he is looking a little square just now but overall a very sound young male who should have an exciting future . Best Puppy Dog
Class 536. Junior DogEntries: 4 Absentees: 1
Place8517 - Roughrigg Rags'n'riches (Mrs M & Mr J Mccarte . This is not a easy age for the males in this class. All at difficult stages of growth and coats not in the best condition which didn't help their outline . Hands on this boy is well built and very sound . His head planes are correct, strong under-jaw, good teeth , tight lip-line with excellent pigment well placed ears and I really liked his character which you showed in his movement reach and drive in all directions with the correct tail set. I would like to see him in better coat condition which would help his outline as he tends to drop off at the backend which actually isn’t the case when you get your hands on him
2nd Place8531 - Tiganlea Turned to Black (Mr J & Mrs C J Tipper) . This dog appealed for his size and substance . Gives his handler a lot of work and not happy to show off his virtues . Typical teenager and i’m sure with some time to focus and coat up he would certainly trouble some adults

01st Place8521 - Avonfair Aloysius JW (Mr Dg & Mrs Mm & Mrs M Mitchell & Mitchell & Jordan) Now this male had the size and substance I was looking for . He is very well balanced and his outline really appealed from the off . Every time I glanced over he was foot perfect . He has a super dept of chest standing on excellent feet . Head is clean and well filled , correct stop without being extreme . Excellent eye placement, well placed ears giving the desired expression . If I was nit picking I would like all the fluff taken from his head. Very sound on the move , steady but I would just like to see a
little more energy and he certainly would have pushed my winner . As always from this kennel coat , condition and presentation perfection
2nd Place8500 - Kourika Frosted Ice (Mrs N Houlihan). Upstanding Male in full bloom beautifully presented , coat colour is good although tan points could be a little richer . Head handled well , excellent ears well used , super pigment . Teeth correct but could be cleaner . Moved soundly and well handled . Excellent character . 3rd Place8491 - Didek Eclipse of The Moon (Mrs L B Foster)

1St Place8477 - Shanaburn Country Road (Mrs W Brodie)Iv judged this male before and I still like him very much in-fact I think this is the best iv seen him looking . Very appealing outline , super front and rear angulation . Standing on excellent feet . His coat and condition excellent and he is now in his prime . Super clean head , strong under-jaw. He is such a sound dog all through . The owner needs to stop flapping , changing handlers just unsettled him . He can do the job himself which is why he won this class.
2nd Place8530 - Tiganlea Thumbs Up (Mr J & Mrs C J Tipper)This male has so many nice qualities , yes not in the best coats which made him look like he drops off at the back end but this is not the case . Upstanding male who posses a very clean well balanced head , strong under-jaw , fabulous pigment , eye and well placed ears . Neck strong , well placed shoulders . When he moved it was a little erratic but what I saw was sound and true , in-fact I loved his energy and cheekiness . A male who standing has great presence . A male that I would like to see in better coat and yes I’m sure his day will come 3rd Place8529 - Corydon Ice Imperial (Mrs H Swinton Raven)Reserve (4th Place)8483 - Triburle The Joker (Mr N D & Mrs C A Collins)
Class 540. Open DogEntries: 6 Absentees: 1st Place8534 - Daliyhaa Master Craftsman (Mr T Wall)This male is no stranger to me and my surprise of the day . Both Handler and dog standing without fuss , what a team they both are . He has to be handled to be fully appreciated and he is all male , super body and condition one of the few with excellent rear muscle , standing on excellent tight feet . He is a good size male , , well balanced and clean in outline . Excellent dept of chest and spring of rib . Correct shoulder placement , firm top-line covered by a coat that’s been lovingly groomed and presented. Effortless movement not a foot out of place , free stack at every opportunity . They clearly adore each other and pulled out all the stops and more to take the top spot . It was my pleasure to award CC his 3rd and his UK Ch title
2nd Place8475 - Corydon Christopher (Miss Mj Blake Standing this male is very appealing certainly has ring presence . Excellent tight feet , standing foursquare on a loose lead . Excellent front , deep chest , excels in neck and strong level top-line . He certainly is all male , correct length of head , strong under-jaw . His eye placement is quite exquisite , well placed and used ears . One I did like very much but on the go around super side gait but close on the rear and this cost his top honours today )3rd Place8482 - Ch Triburle Blue-bolero (Mr N D & Mrs C A Collins)Reserve (4th Place)8489 - Chelborn’s Gambling List (Mrs V Cronk)Very Highly Commended (5th Place)8514 - Ch Gataj Turn Back Time JW (Mrs M A Lockyer)

Class 545. Puppy Bitch Entries: 4 Absentees: 21st Place8498 - Jopium Follow My Heart (Miss J Hodges)What a glorious puppy I was quite taken with her . So well balanced throughout and her condition and presentation a credit to this owner . Standing and on the move she ticked all the boxes and for one so young . This young lady will certainly trouble the best . . Best Puppy Bitch / Best Puppy in Breed
2nd Place8480 - Salsina Love Me Do (Mrs D Clark Kerr)Another very nice exhibit spoiled in outline and movement by being overweight . Too heavy and her top-line was rolling . Excellent style of female , good size and well presented . Please get the weight off … easy to correct !
Class 546. Junior BitchEntries: 4 Absentees: 1st Place8498 - Jopium Follow My Heart (Miss J Hodges) as above
2nd Place8478 - Shanaburn Midnight Kisses (Mrs W Brodie) Unlucky to meet my winner in such fine form . Lovely girl , spot on for size , excellent movement in all directions . Correct head planes , well placed and used ears . She really appealed for outline but spoiled by being overweight and this cost her a higher place . 3rd Place8509 - Gataj All That Glitters (Mrs M A Lockyer)
Class 547. Yearling BitchEntries: 3 Absentees: 01st Place8533 - Hanvale Patsy Stone JW (Mr S & Mrs H Walder) This young female is so very sound in all departments . She really appealed for a well balanced outline. So correct in head , strong under-jaw well placed ears . Strong neck leading into correct shoulder placement . Her top-line firm and she moved very soundly in all directions without skipping a beat. She adores her handler and both put on a fine polished performance to take in good company the RCC . One who I feel will find her way to the upper house when fully mature 2nd Place8536 - Thistlewing Gold Mist (Mrs B P Welsh). A quality stylish girl , super rich colour and coat in wonderful condition beautifully presented .Head well balanced , to be critical her ear set could be a little tighter . Her outline is excellent standing forequarter rolling top-line on the move as she is carrying too much weight 3rd Place8509 - Gataj All That Glitters (Mrs M A Lockyer)
Class 548. Post Graduate BitchEntries: 10 Absentees: 21st Place8532 - Valentine Gucci Angel Silvestre at Tiganlea (Mr J & Mrs C J Tipper)I loved her energy and zest and this showed in her movement … she powered around the ring . In full bloom beautifully presented . Spot on for size overall top quality bitch who could have a very interesting year if pushed . 2nd Place8499 - Unusual Beauty Des Conquetes De Don Juan at Jopium JW (Miss J Hodges)I really liked this bitch and i’m not usually one for blues but I thought her quite exceptional . In full bloom and she was presented in top order Every hair brushed and gleaming , excellent feet . Wonderful character and never put a foot wrong . To be nit picking I find her just a little heavier set all through for a female … just looking for a touch more elegance . I would personally take a little weight off her so she would be lighter on her feet although today very sound . Unfortunate to meet my first place in such great form 3rd Place8501 - Riverside Song Thrills of Night at Scottrye (Imp Rom) (Mrs I Hutchings)Reserve (4th Place)8515 - Brilyn Look at Me for Faraliya (Miss J Macdonald)Very Highly Commended (5th Place)8493 - Ingledene So Tried to Be Blu (Mrs I J Gee)

top awards .In full bloom , correct clean well balanced head topped with well placed and used ears giving such a exquisite expression . Well balanced outline although she tends to not help herself by standing tucked under having said that she was so sound on the move in all directions with correct tail set . Her coat dark and well presented . I liked her a lot just wish she would have a little more sparkle . 2nd Place8510 - Gataj All That Sparkles (Mrs M A Lockyer)well she really does sparkle her coat , condition and presentation a cred to her owners . A bitch fully mature who presents a correct picture overall . So very sound on the move with great energy , drive and personality . I would just prefer a tighter ear set z. 3rd Place8507 - Starlenga Nina Simone (C & J Llewellyn)Reserve (4th Place)8506 - Avonfair Secret Love Letter to Salsina (C & J Llewellyn)Very Highly Commended (5th Place)8481 - Uffspring Uniquely Mayd for Whitecraigs (Mrs D Clark Kerr)
Class 550. Open BitchEntries: 11 Absentees: 01st Place8504 - Fi/no/lt/lv/ee Ch Skabona Too Good to Be True (Mrs A & Mrs N Kokkonen & Skalin)Now this class I found quite exceptional and looking around at these females as brood bitches / show dogs the breed has a good future . Now this winning bitch I had previously judged abroad , I gave her the group . My decision still stands she is one of the very special ones that don’t often come around . For me she is a template and true essence of the breed …. Elegance , soundness and so correct throughout . She carry’s many titles and without doubt easily add many more . A great showgirl today was her day and she stood away Without any hesitation CC and BOB .Rough Collies like this need to be found and rewarded highly . Wishing her clever breeder / owner all the best chasing number 3 CC 2nd Place8485 - Riverside Song Desiderata at Aaronwell (Imp Rom) (Mr J Congdon)So unfortunate to meet my winner today and I liked this quality bitch a lot . Need less weight 2nd Place8480 - Salsina Love Me Do (Mrs D Clark Kerr)Another nice style of bitch who has a great character but she is shorter all over , need to get weight off might help her outline .
