Rough Collies

I would like to thank the committee for this opportunity to judge the rough collies at this well organised show. It was unfortunate that the weather had a big impact on those unable to make it to the show but thank you to those that could. 

Puppy (6,3 absentees)
1st WILLIAMS Mr S G & Mrs J Essenjay Ring of Fire, very striking 9 month shaded sable dog. Very balanced overall with lovely proportions for his age. He has a dark almond eye, gentle but intelligent and clean smooth well rounded muzzle with a reasonable amount of underjaw. The required slight stop and perfectly placed ears which are tipped enough. All this gives the desired collie head and expression. Good substance, lovely length of neck, good width and depth of chest, with length of rib. Good angulation fore and aft, Nice tight feet. Effortless movement, he will only get better. I would have happily taken him home. BOB BPIB
2nd BARTRAM Mr C P Ambartr’s Dignity and Pride 7 month sable bitch, really rich in colour. Good size for her age. Another with a very pleasing head and expression, would like a little more underjaw. Good neck and chest, plenty of substance,slightly straighter in front, well bent stifles. Needs to keep her tail down on the move. But overall beautifully presented. 

Junior (7,5 absentees)
1st BARTRAM Mr C P Ambartr’s Dignity and Pride
2nd in previous class
2nd WILLIAMS Mr S G & Mrs J Essenjay Heartbreaker 11 month blue merle bitch. Good clean balanced head with sweet expression. Slightly wide earset but a good, well muscled neck and correct length to height. Elbowed out slightly on the move which is probably due to her carrying a bit too much weight. Well presented.

Post Graduate (4,2 absentees)
1st ABLETT Mrs K J Siluto Misteriously Blue 22 month blue merle bitch. Slightly smaller and different in type. Good colour with black splashes and rich tan. Slightly deeper stop and wide set ears. Sweet correct almond shape eye. Good length and well muscled neck. Well angled front with good depth of chest and width. Topline drops a little. Moved well.
2nd SKINNER Miss S Ladnar Makeithappen for Nikal 23 month Blue merle dog of good size and correct colour. Pleasing head qualities with correct eye shape and placement with an intelligent expression. Unfortunately this young man was very unsettled today which made it very hard to go over him and assess.

Open (10,5 absentees)
1st ALLSOPP Mr D, Mrs H & Miss I Aqualita Its A Miracle.5 year tri dog of good colour with a pleasing masculine expression with almond shaped eye, nicely tipped ears. Good substance and correct length to height ratio. Moved well but a little close in the rear. Very much at one with his handler. Beautifully presented.RBOB
2nd NEWTON Mr J & Mrs S Fiorcara Brave Explorer 6 year sable dog of good size. Could easily have swapped these two placings round. Again a pleasing head clean rounded muzzle, correct ear set but kept them hidden today. Firm neck, would like a better topline. Moved well but wasn’t really enjoying himself in the ring today.
