LANCASHIRE & CHESHIRE COLLIE CLUB – 4th May 2025
Rouogh Collie Bitches
Many thanks to all the exhibitors for their entries and for their nice clean dogs. There were few absentees which was lovely, giving me choice in all classes. I found quite a few heads heavier than I would prefer, particularly in the younger classes. Too many bitches were carrying excess weight, some of them significantly – this is always going to hamper your chances.
As ever, front construction and length of upper arm could bear improvement in so many that it almost makes it not worth commenting individually - so rare to find anything with its front legs well under and with real forward reach on the move … but perhaps slightly improving.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH (3 entries, 0 absent):
Difficult class to start – what I preferred for type didn’t move well on the day, and that’s what we must judge.
1. Aaronwell Another Love – blue merle bitch of nice overall proportions, a little compact all through for me and would hope she will grow on, but she was the most complete package here today. Head is balanced, although I would prefer a little more length here too. Lovely colour, well broken markings and well developed coat of good texture. Nice angulation front and back, lovely reach of neck - a pretty little girl, who is well put together and moved soundly.
2. Wicani Dulcibella Gyda Maysinder – this baby’s head has some developing to do and this is not helped by some rather severe trimming, but took this place on her overall soundness on the move.
3. Aaronwell Another Dream for Avonfair
PUPPY BITCH (6, 0):
1. Beldones Shanghai Surprise – BPB – well grown tri, good proportions and, decent neck giving a nice outline, good angulation front and back. Harsh coat of good colour. Head of good length, perhaps a little flare in backskull and ears a little wide-set, but sweet expression. Very sound on the move.
2. Jopium Follow My Heart – sable bitch of good size and proportions, head of good length and balance although a little stronger than I prefer, nice eye. Would like her to drop down in to her rear a little. Well-muscled which enabled her to move out lightly and soundly, driving from the rear.
3. Salsina Blushing Rose
JUNIOR BITCH (5, 1):
1. Jopium Follow My Heart
2. Gataj All That Glitters – golden sable bitch with decent outline, balanced head of good length although a little wide in backskull and therefore ear set, would prefer a more oblique eye. Good angulation front and back, but could stand to have a little more length of back, as she had a tendency to crab here today.
3. Essanjay Heartbreaker
MAIDEN BITCH (5, 0, 1 moved to Open):
1. Brilyn’s Breckamore Crimson Embers – raw but promising sable baby who will need time, head of good length, ears a little wide set at the moment. She has a good shape and outline, lovely neck and nice angulation, but at the moment she needs to strengthen in rear and was rather prone to crabbing today
2. Wicani Dulcibella Gyda Maysinder
3. Aaronwell Another Dream for Avonfair
NOVICE BITCH (5, 0):
1. Salsina Mystic Rose –golden sable, would like a little more size but she is nicely put together, good angulation front and back, and the soundest in this class although carrying too much weight. A bit stronger in backskull than I prefer, but head is balanced and she has a nice eye, giving a sweet expression
2. Wicani Dulcibella Gyda Maysinder
3. Aaronwell Another Dream for Avonfair
GRADUATE BITCH (6, 1):
1. Timeless Destiny Star Actis over Barrenclough (IMP POL) – strong bitch, in profuse well-presented coat. Nice outline with good angulation front and rear, well-muscled, giving very sound movement (although she would benefit from finding her own pace). Head is balanced and in proportion, good eye.
2. Gentle Image Champagne Time (IMP GER) – nice shape on this bitch, and found her very sound despite her weight. Balanced head with lovely moulding, super eye shape and set. Good angulation front and rear. Good coat which could stand a little more attention for the show ring.
3. Erjon Eyes On Me
POST GRADUATE BITCH (5, 0):
1. Unusual Beauty des Conquetes de Don Juan at Jopium JW – sparkling blue merle bitch of lovely colour. Balanced head with good moulding, although a little heavier than I prefer. Good length of back, decent neck. I would prefer a little more length of leg and better flow in her front construction. Good muscle tone and fabulous rear movement. Superb condition and presentation from this exhibitor.
2. Timeless Destiny Star Actis over Barrenclough (IMP POL)
3. Beldones Clementine avec Coloratura
LIMIT BITCH (16, 2, 1 WD):
Lovely class to sort out, although by this stage most were flagging a bit in the heat.
1. Starlenga Nina Simone - RCC – glamorous blue merle bitch of good colour with well broken markings. Lovely size and outline, with a refined and well-moulded head of good proportions, lovely eye. Love her length to height ratio, sweep over the loin and hind angulation. In the challenge, she was not as settled either standing or on the move, so had to give way to the lovely sable.
2. Beldones Magical Bliss – a favourite of mine, who was flagging a bit today – love her size and proportions. Her head handles well, with good length, moulding and eye giving a sweet expression, would prefer a touch less depth. Lovely outline, good rear angulation, like so many would perhaps prefer a slightly better front. A classy bitch.
3. Erjon Evolving Beauty
OPEN BITCH (6, 0, 1 moved from Maiden):
1. Riverside Song Desiderata at Aaronwell (IMP ROM) – CC, BOB, RBIS – what an elegant bitch this is. Her beautifully fitted coat with glamorous furnishings made a lovely picture on the day. Her head handles so well - good length, not too much stop and so clean with no flare, lovely dark eyes of nice size and set, and in the challenge she put her ears up and sealed the deal with her typical expression, lovely arched neck and good outline. To nitpick, I would prefer a little more length of upper arm to give her more forward reach, but she is lean, sound and so light on her feet, when others were flagging in the heat. Pleased to hear that this completed her champion title.
2. Chantique Deja Vu – shapely sable bitch with good proportions, would prefer a little more size. Profuse coat that is on the blow and hiding her lovely shape a little at the moment, but hands on she is so well built and was very sound on the move. Head of good length, good eye shape and set, a little wider in backskull than I prefer, but a quality bitch who I gave strong consideration.
3. Artzaiak Strawberry Rose for Salsina (IMP ESP)
VETERAN BITCH (7, 3):
1. Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian JW – BVIB – what a phenomenon this bitch is at rising 12 years old. She powers round the ring, demonstrating her condition and muscle. With her (rather profuse) superbly presented coat, she is an absolute credit to her owner. I would prefer a smidge more size and a touch more upper arm, but her proportions and outline are good, with decent reach of neck. Head is in proportion to the dog and handles well, and her mouth is still good at this age. Lovely to see her.
2. Kind of Magic Della Buca Delle Fate at Wassail (IMP ITA) – tri bitch of good proportions, head of good length with nice eye, although a little broader in backskull and therefore wider in earset than I prefer. Nice length to height proportions, rear angulation could perhaps be a little better, but an overall appealing girl who gave a good account of herself on the move.
3. Starlyn Amazing Grace
