Rough Collie Bitches

I would like to thank the Crufts committee for giving me the opportunity to judge Crufts, having been involved in Rough Collies for well over 50 years, showing breeding and judging, it was a great honour.  I would also like to thank my stewards Jim & Sheron Murdoch who did a fantastic job.
I was pleased with all my placings, but there is a worrying trend coming into the breed with very narrow heads, very much like borzoi heads with long forefaces and short backskull which make the head properties unbalanced, long and narrow foreface also leads to lack of underjaw.
The head should resemble a well blunted clean wedge with side profile lie in two parallel straight lines of equal length with a perceptible stop.

Veteran Bitch   (18 Abs 7)
1st     Murrey & Bellamy   BELOREEN STARLIGHT   8 year old Blue Merle which was a good colour, good head to handle with correctly shaped eye, ears right on top and used all the time. Good reach of neck and correct length of back fair turn of stifle moved well. In good coat which was groomed well
2nd    Francis   CH PEBLU GOLD DESIRE  8 year old S & W good wedge shaped head with lovely dark almond shaped eye, ears used to advantage, fair reach of neck with correct length of back with good turn of stifle, moved well. Nice fitted coat.
3rd    Balázsovits   INT/HUN CH NYITRAMENTI TIZIANO'S VENUS

Minor Puppy Bitch  (3 Abs 0)
1st     Clark Kerr   SALSINA LOVE ME DO 8 month old S & W nice head with good stop, ears are a bit light hopefully they will settle, fair reach of neck, would prefer more length of back, needs to settle in movement
2nd    Endres  ZORKA VERONY E´AMAZING GRACE S 7 W just short of 9 months of age, fair head to handle with a fair stop and good eye placement, fair reach of neck, but would prefer more length of back, movement needs to tighten up
3rd    Beaden   MYRIEHEWE DIAMONDS

Puppy Bitch (10 Abs 0)
1st     Ship   TREMARO MILLION DOLLAR BABY 11 month old S & W, lovely wedge shaped head with correct stop and correct almond shaped eye giving the desired expression, ears right on top and used well, good reach of neck with good length of back, fair turn of stifle and short hock. Well fitted coat which was groomed well. Moved well
2nd    Hodges    JOPIUM FOLLOW MY HEART 10 month old S & W Nice head to handle with good stop, dark almond shaped eye, ears correctly placed and used well.  Fair reach of neck with good length of back, in good coat which was groomed to perfection moved ok
3rd    Lockyer   GATAJ ALL THAT GLITTERS

Junior Bitch (12 Abs 1)
1st     Hawkins & Foy   BELDONES CLASSIC TOUCH  S & W she has a lovely wedge shaped head with a good stop which was correctly placed.  Dark almond shaped eye giving a lovely melting expression, ears right on top and used all the time. Very good reach of neck with correct length of back, lovely turn of stifle and short hock.  Good fitted jacket which was groomed to perfection.  Moved with drive
2nd   Lockyer   GATAJ EXOTIC GIRL  S & W good head to handle with correctly placed stop, nice eye giving the desired expression, would like ear carriage to be a little tighter, fair reach of neck with good length of back, fair turn of stifle with short hock, in very good coat which was groomed to perfection, moved well
3rd   Tott   VALENTINE DAY DU CLOS DE SEA-WIND

Yearling Bitch (11 Abs 1)
1st     Walder   HANVALE PATSY STONE JW   S & W just coming back into coat, lovely head to handle with good stop placement and dark almond shaped eye giving a lovely expression, ears right on top and used all the time, good reach of neck with good length of back, fair turn of stifle and short hock, coat was well groomed. She was the best mover in this class.
2nd    Tott   VALENTINE DAY DU CLOS DE SEA-WIND   S & W was third in previous class, head ok to handle with good stop and lovely dark almond eye, would prefer ear carriage to be a bit tighter, fair reach of neck with fair length of back, good turn of stifle and short hock, in very good coat which was groomed well, moved ok
3rd    Growcott   CHANTIQUE SENT FROM HEAVEN FOR LILLYWAY

Post Graduate Bitch  (31 Abs 6)
1st     Shipp   TREMARO KIND OF MAGIC   S & W she took my eye the moment she walked into the ring and I was not disappointed when I went over her.  A lovely feminine wedge shaped head with good stop and dark almond shaped eye giving a truly melting expression, good ear carriage which she used all the time.  Lovely reach of neck with good length of back and lovely turn of stifle with short hock, Good fitted jacket which was groomed to perfection.  She moved with drive round the ring.  I was pleased to award her the CC and with total agreement with my co-judge she was awarded BOB
2nd    Tame   GATAJ TIME AFTER TIME AT RAHLISSA  S & W with good head to handle, nice eye giving the desired expression, ear right on top and used all the time.  Good reach of neck with correct length of back with fair turn of stifle and short hock.  In fair coat which was groomed well.  Moved extremely well
3rd    Hoffman   TIGANLEA TUESDAY’S CHILD

Limit Bitch (19 Abs 6)
1st     Lockyer   GATAJ ALL THAT SPARKLES   S & W with lovely head to handle, correctly placed stop with dark almond shaped eye giving a super expression, would prefer tighter ear carriage.  Fair reach of neck with good length of back and fair turn of stifle with short hock.  In good coat which was groomed well.  Moved with drive
2nd    Hawkins & Foy    BELDONES JUST FOR FUN AT STARLENGA         S & W good head to handle, with good stop and lovely dark almond eye giving the desired expression, ears on top which she used to advantage, fair reach of neck with good length of back.  In good coat which was groomed well.  Moved well
3rd    Csokona   STONEHAVEN PRIDE OH MY OBSESSION

Open Bitch (21Abs 10)
1st     Kelly   SAMHAVEN SISTER SARA WITH BALLAHANNA  S & W with a lovely feminine head, good stop and dark almond shaped eye giving a truly melting expression, ears well placed and used all the time.  Good reach of neck and correct length of back with superb turn of stifle and short hock.  Good coat which was groomed well.  Moved with drive.  She pushed hard for the CC but was pleased to give her the RCC

2nd    Rose   BELDONES CLEMENTINE AVEC COLORATURA  S & W nice head to handle with well placed stop, good eye shape, ears right on top and used to advantage, fair reach of neck with good length of back, In fair coat which was groomed well.  Moved OK
