COLLIE ASSOCIATION OPEN SHOW 2 – SUNDAY 6TH JULY 2025
SMOOTH COLLIES

I wish to thank The Collie Association for their kind invitation to judge Smooth Collies at this well organised and friendly show.  I would also like to thank my very efficient stewards who kept the ring running smoothly.  I had a fabulous entry and would like to thank all the exhibitors for their friendly acceptance of my decisions.  In many cases it was a close call and I’m sure places will change on a different day.  Thank you all.

V D/B (3/0). 1.  Cowling’s Koczkodan Serenity VW, 9 year old tricolour bitch who I have judged previously and one who is a pleasure to go over.  Beautiful feminine head, slight stop, good bite, clean teeth.  Correct angulation front and rear. Easy, graceful flowing stride and moves out freely, defying any sign of ageing!  BV, BViB, BVIS. 2.  Smith’s Ch/Multi Ch. Winter is Coming To Tentola.  Handsome blue dog, masculine in appearance with a strong neck and body, good angulation and positive movement.  Strode out well on the move.  3.  Benton’s Ch. Oakestelle Artemis ShCEx.
2 PD (2/0). 1.  Lusty’s Manordeifi Hijacked By Blamorder NAF, TAF.  6 month old sable puppy who stood and showed very well for his age.  Clean head on a long neck into decent shoulders.  Moved smartly and in harmony with his handler.  Looking forward to watching this one mature.  BPD   2.  Moores’ Manordeifi High Regard, sable puppy of 6months who I discovered later is a brother of 1. above.  Nice shape and hopefully will develop along the lines of his slightly more mature sibling.  Rather less refined in attitude today, which showed in his somewhat erratic movement due to his over-enthusiasm.  Another youngster with potential.
3.JD  (3/0). Thomas & Lusty’s Blamorder Side Hustle With Mournebrake.  Promising tricolour youngster of 13 months.  Clean wedge shaped head with good chin and strong jaw.    Good length of neck.  Balanced in outline.  Well angulated throughout.  Correct length of tail.  Stood and showed very well.  Moved out freely.  Lots of potential.  2.Atherton’s Blamorder The Con Is On At Casiat.  Litter brother to 1 in this class but not quite as mature and needs a little more time.  Would like to see a little more length in foreface to match his length of skull.  Good length to height proportions in body and strong hindquarters with well let down hocks.   Good bone.  Moved well.  3.  Moores’ Manordeifi High Roller
4.

PGD (2/0). 1.  Howard, Howard & Fort’s Shulune Imperial Inkheart With Casatentola. Handsome blue merle dog of 22 months who is maturing very pleasingly.    Balanced masculine head of good proportions with well placed ears.  Very appealing expression.  Good bite and chin, clean teeth.  Deep chest and correct spring of rib, excellent upper arm and shoulder placement.  Strong hindquarters.  Overall he gives an impression of strength without exaggeration.  Moved out very well.  RBD.   2.  Metcalf’s Koczkodan Well I Never.  2 year old tricolour dog at an early stage in his development.  His head could be cleaner in finish and I would prefer a little more chin.  Kind eye and expression.  Good deep chest and forequarters.   Slightly longer in body than I would prefer but I think his shape will improve as he develops and drops into his frame.  Moved ok.

LD. (1/0). 1. Seager’s Blamorder Magic Maker With Freejack JW.  Eye-catching sable dog with correct masculine head, sweet eye and expression, correct ear set.  Very good angulation throughout.  This dog has lovely conformation  and a balanced outline.   He moved as I expected with an easy flowing gait and at one with his handler.  Stood out as a winner.  BD, BOB, RBIS

OD (1/0) 1.  Wensley’s Ch. Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive JW.  Tricolour dog who appeals for his correct conformation, lovely head and good movement.  Sadly he was very distracted today and therefore well below his best.
PB (1/0) 1.  Moores’ Manordeifi High Jinks. Sweet 6 month old tricolour puppy whose confidence vanished as soon as she entered the ring.  Sweet natured girl who became less shy as she became more accustomed to being the centre of attention.  Good basic conformation, very feminine, but needs lots of time to mature.

JB (2/0)  1.  Benton & Bemelmans’ Blamorder Double Or Quits of Oakestelle JW. Beautiful expression on this lovely blue merle bitch who moved as well as her construction would suggest.  Good angulations throughout and good bone.  Very promising youngster with a bright future ahead of her.  RBB.  2.  Davies-Brown’s Blamorder I Dreamed A Dream At Wystry.  Tricolour bitch, litter sister to (1) I later discovered, with very similar construction.  Was a close call but at this stage of their development, I preferred the head and expression of my winner.  She moved very well and in tune with her handler.

PGB (2/0) 1.  Davies-Browns’  Blamorder I Dreamed A Dream At Wystry    2. Moores’ Blamorder High Hopes For Manordeifi. 4 year old tricolour bitch who is constructed well and moved ok.  Presented a nice outline but without the presence of my winner.

LB (2/1).  1. Cole & Fort’s Shulune Imperial Rum Punch JW.  Young tricolour bitch of 20 months, good head and alert, intelligent expression.  Height to length ratio very good and good angulations throughout.  Moved well on strong limbs with correct short pasterns and strong hocks.

OB (2/0).  1.  Richardson’s Lizoni Va Va Voom. Very attractive tricolour bitch with a correct head on a long arched neck, into a well angulated shoulder.  Good topline.  Nice strong hindquarters and  well let down hocks.  Neat feet.  Moved very well.  BB.  2. Jerrett’s Coldelee Eternal Sunshine JW,  lovely sable bitch with a beautiful head and expression.   Moved out well and it was a close call between the two girls in this class but just preferred the stride length of (1).
