Collie Club of Wales open show – October 2025

Thanks to the exhibitors for supporting this lovely open show – a clean sweep for the Smooths today.

BEST IN SHOW – Blamorder Double or Quits of Oakestelle – both judges had sent through exhibits of tender age, and this very smart blue merle Smooth bitch had the edge for maturity so far. Good parallel head planes and flat skull, perhaps a little more underjaw would benefit. Lovely length to height proportions, nice size demonstrating femininity with enough substance. Her good angulation and hard muscle tone showed in her excellent movement. Her base colour is excellent, and she makes a lovely picture, with the best yet to come I’m sure – what an exciting prospect.

RESERVE BEST IN SHOW – Ch. Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive JW – mature tricolour male of lovely quality and in his prime, masculine without any coarseness. Fresh out of his crate and needing a good stretch I think, he had a tendency to drop his topline on the stack today, but held it beautifully when moved to demonstrate his soundness and excellent body condition. Love his size and substance, angulation excellent front and rear, lovely reach of neck. A tad happy with his tail today, but such a quality male.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW – Coldelee Take It To The Limit – very nice sable baby who is growing on nicely and promising to be an exciting adult. Loved his head and expression, with beautiful size, shape and set of eye, and ears well set and used. Lovely balance to his body, great reach of neck. Moved very well, and I look forward to seeing him mature.

BEST VETERAN IN SHOW – Ch. Oakestelle Artemis – Blue merle bitch who handled very well. I would prefer a tad more substance to her in places and perhaps a touch more length of back for personal preference, but she is so very balanced and sound, with a glorious neck and a very feminine expression. Lovely angulation front and back, excellent body condition, a grand lady in her prime.
