Collie Club Of Wales Championship Show

Rough Collies

Many thanks to the officers and committee of The Collie Club of Wales for inviting me to judge. Thankyou to my stewards for helping my ring run efficiently. I was delighted with my winners; however, I did find that there was many faults present today which included short, thick, and deep heads with too much stop, low set wide ears, short tails and poor movement and coats that were not correct. To say that some of the males present today are our present/future stud dogs I am concerned for our beautiful breed.

Minor Puppy Dog
1 st Lockyers – Gataj Strike It Lucky s/w dog of nearly 9 months, shorter in head type but very balanced with a , nice eye, good underjaw, good ears and ample neck. Moved steadily and presented well. Best Puppy Dog

Puppy Dog
1 st Faletto – Very Super Blak Di Cambiano (ATC BC47928ITA) Upstanding tri colour with pleasing head properties, good neck led into good shoulders, just needs to tighten up in movement. Presented and showed well.
2 nd Lockyers – Gataj Time Will Tell Smaller type than I would prefer but he is balanced, well bodied and immaculately presented. Tail carriage lost him his class today.

Junior Dog
1 st Blakes -Corydon The Baronet Tri-Colour dog who in my opinion has a very exciting future ahead, beautifully moulded head with a pleasing eye, nice ear carriage, good neck with correct shoulders, nice length of leg and length of back with correct rear angulations. Moved with drive and purpose, showed and presented in top condition. I had no hesitation in awarding him the Reserve CC
2 nd Randalls – Ladnar Call My Name b/m dog of good size, quality, and colour, he just was not settled today but did enough to warrant his placing.

Yearling Dog
1 st Edwards & Blucks – Beldones Mojito Well balanced s/w dog who is nicely put together, good head properties, nice angulation front and rear moved, showed and presented well.

Novice Dog
1st Blakes – Corydon The Baronet Graduate Dog 1st Blakes – Corydon The Baronet
2nd Toogoods – Hanvale Ralph Lauren JW s/w who I would just like bigger all round, Not as sound as 1.

Post Graduate Dog

Mid Limit Dog
1 st Harris – Geosamka Loves To Love at Ithilien s/w dog who again I would like a lot more of, he has a thickset head which detracts from an elegant expression, ample neck, good body, moves adequately.
2 nd Skinners – Ladnar Makeithappen For Nikal Upstanding blue merle of good colouring, head handles well and is balanced, good underjaw, nice neck and good front, good length of back, well-made hindquarters but his movement was spoilt by his erratic tail carriage and this cost him his class today. Showed and presented well.

Limit Dog
1 st Wray-Ramsdens – Takhisis Daggers At Dawn JW Once settled he made the most of himself, moved ok, showed and presented well.

Open Dog
1 st Walls – Daliyhaa Master Craftsman (ATC AZ23600IKC) Good sized dog of top quality. His head is all balanced, nothing out of proportion. Good head properties which showed in his expression. Good neck led into good shoulders, good depth of chest, good front, nice length of back, good top line, good hindquarters led into good hocks. He moved around the ring with good front extension and drive from the rear and covered the ground with ease. He was in fantastic condition and I was delighted to award him the DCC
2 nd Blakes – Corydon Christopher Smaller type than 1. Good neck, good front, good shape, good coat, and texture. Would like to see more positive driving movement.
