I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at this prestigious show. I consider it an honour. I must also thank my amazing Steward who kept the ring moving faultlessly throughout my judging.
When I had my first Rough collie in the mid 70s I was told a rough collie was 50% head and expression and 50% body and movement .
It is apparent that some breeders prioritise head and expression while others body and movement. All hoping to produce as near perfect a dog as possible, I feel this is why we have different types today.
When both are achieved in one dog it is a pleasure to see and is down to the dedication of the breeders and is what I was looking for today.
I did not see one bad mouth and very few cow hocks, more often seen in dogs with more nervous disposition. Most dogs were well presented. I do appreciate the effort exhibitors put in and a thank you to those who entered under me.

Veteran dog 4 entered 0 absent
1st Mills Lynmack Starman at Lemivee 9 year-old golden Sable Dog. Well balanced with good bone and feet handled and presented well in good condition. Well rounded muzzle with good eye placement, flat skull good stop going a little grey as expected but giving him that mature, collie sweet expression, moved well. Best veteran dog
2nd Williams Ch Mejola Fate and Fortune ShCEx. 8 year old blue dog. Different type to 1st. He is all dog with a strong bone and good length of back well arched neck giving a good outline and moved very well just lost out on expression to the winner.
3rd Boyle's Barrenclough Heart of Gold.

Minor Puppy Dog 3. 0
1st Randall’s Ladnar Call My Name. Well developed 6 month old Blue of Great colour. Nicely put together with good length for back, short hocks and an exceptionally long tail. Good bone with tight feet. Clean wedge head with good under jaw and correctly placed stop and well rounded muzzle. Used his correctly placed ears well. A very promising puppy.
2nd Ross’s Samshernik Majestic Boy. 8 months old Sable and white dog. Nice head and used his ears well giving a sweet expression good spring of rib level top line correct shoulder. Not the mover of one.
3rd Notley & Barnett’s Aaronwell After the Rainbow.

1st. Blake’s. Croydon The Baronet. 9 month old tricolour with a gleaming black coat and Rich tans. Best mover in this class as his confirmation would suggest. Well chisel blunt wedge head with good underjaw. Another very promising Puppy. BPD, BPIB & BPIS
2nd Shipp’s Tremaro Special Agent.Sable and white with a lovely head and expression. Tight ears, good stop and well placed dark almond eye. Good bone and body, just outmoved by 1st
3rd Lockyer’s Gataj I Am Maximus.

Junior dog 7. 2 absent
1st Hawkins and Foy’s. Beldones Ivory Star. He certainly was a star here today. Just what I was looking for, lovely head sweetest of expressions and good confirmation, moved with drive and extension.
He has dark almond shaped eyes, obliquely set of correct size. rounded muzzle with no signs of coarseness. Clean cheeks and correct width of skull. Correctly placed stop and good tight ears which he used none stop. Well angulated shoulders, good spring of rib. Level top line, good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. straight front legs with good movement fore and aft. It was my pleasure to award him the CC. I’m sure the other 2 won’t be far away. Wish he was mine.
2nd Harris’s Geosamka Loves to Love at Ithilien. 15 month old Shaded Sable & White. Nice out line standing. Good bone and neat feet. Good head with correct stop and dark eye. A little full of himself today.

Graduate dog. 5. 0
1st Dawson’s. Gemheid Chestnut. 3 year old shaded sable dog. A difficult dog to judge due to his insistence to bark instead of show for his bait. But that said this is a nice dog. Smooth wedge head with good stop nice eye and smooth flat skull. I managed to distract him long enough to see his ear carriage and expression. Over enthusiastic on the move at times but saw enough to see he is sound.
2nd Farthing’s Didek Once In A Blue Moon. 2year old blue dog. Not a big dog but all in proportion. Nicely arched neck with good length of back and good tail reaching easily to his hocks.
3rd Gelder’s Libanel Erebus Eternal Love.

1st. Ross’s. Siluto Blue Wizzard at Amberwish. 2 year old blue dog. Good shoulder placement and length of neck. Would like more size.
2nd. Dix’s Barrenclough Diamond Skies. Rich golden sable of good size. Good ears and flat skull showed well but did not move with drive.

Mid Limit dog. 2. 0
1st. Howard, Newton and Patterson’s. Ladnar Dreamchaser. 3 year old blue dog. He stands 4 square on strong legs and feet presenting a lovely outline with well arched neck and level top line. He has a sweet expression from his smooth wedge head well placed stop, eyes and ears set on top.
2nd Williams Majola Top Gun JW. Shaded sable dog of great shape and well presented. Good ears, rounded muzzle and correct stop. Eyes a little full for me.

1st Vescan’s Phreelancer Phinal Salute. Shaded sable dog approaching his 4th birthday. Very balanced dog with no exaggerations. Stood four square with his fitted jacket showing his confirmation. Beautifully presented with good legs and feet well let down hocks. Clean head with no exaggeration flat skull and neat ears. The darkest of eye. Moved well. Res CC & res BOB.
2nd Collins. Triburle The Joker. 2 year old sable & white dog. Different type to 1. Not happy in the hall today but could still see his good muzzle nice eye and sweet expression. His big white collar accentuating his well laid shoulders.
3rd Leese’s. Essanjay Fields Of Gold for Firesaga.

Open dog 6. 2 absent
1st Blake’s Croydon Christopher. 2year old red sable and white dog. He has a fitted coat which shows off his lovely shape. Deep chest and good spring of rib. Arched neck of good length, neat ears which he used well, good head plains with clean lines and well placed stop.
2nd Hawkins & Foy’s Ch Beldones Toucher Du Bois. 4 year old dog. In great coat with good bone and tight well padded feet. Good lay of shoulder Nice length of back and well let down hocks. Moved effortlessly but with drive from behind and reach in front. Lovely expression but a little wide in skull for me.
