Rough Collie

My thanks to the secretary and committee for my first CC appointments for this breed also Mastiff’s and Pug’s at this show, all had very good entries and made for a busy, enjoyable time for me. Thank you to the exhibitors for the quality entry and accepting my decisions sportingly. I have judged Rough Collie for over 23 years to get to this point today. Although I have never judged a club show but I have had reasonable numbers at championship shows with No CC’s to know what I require of a Rough Collie! In 2015 at Clydebank & DCS I judged this dog: Starlenga Street Fighter At Nithview Sh CM owned by Melvin & Jopson's, who was a 4 year old Sable male, he impressed me for balance and breed type, I awarded him Best of Breed and later the Pastoral Group. I based the Rough Collie type that I liked on him!

Upon reflection today the type that became evident and stand out were Wicani kennel, either bred or sired by Wicani males! The winner of classes that came from this kennel impressed me the most!

Within this report, I am compelled to Congratulate them today!

Minor Puppy Dog (2,1)

1st, Corben’s, Seoirsin Shooting Star via Caprioara NAF TAF, 8 months old sable and white, lovely balanced youngster, developing head, brown almond eyes, he used his ears to complete the picture, scissor bite, nice bone, body very lean with pin bones evident, balanced angulation, crosses his front coming towards me.

Puppy Dog (2,1)

1st, Randall’s, Ladnar Call My Name, 11 months old blue merle, long masculine head with almond shaped eyes, scissor bite, ears used well, fair length of neck into good body shape, front legs viewed straight with moderate bone, stifle well bent, moved with good reach in front but crossing which is a no no, some drive from the rear, well presented, Best Dog Puppy and Best Puppy.

Junior Dog (3,0)

1st, Tilley‘s, Gemheid May'd of Amber for Detillio, 14 months old sable and white of good size, head of good length with dark medium size eyes giving a sweet expression, scissor bite, good length of neck into nice overall body shape, harsh outer coat, lacks reach in front on the move.

2nd, Allsopp’s, Aqualita Majestic, 12 months old sable, lovely head of good length with the sweetest of eyes, ears not tipping over, slight stop with rounded blunt muzzle, lovely reach of neck, came naked today (lacks coat), what you see is what you get, light and effortless mover.

3rd, Hawkins and Foy’s, Beldones Ivory Star.

Yearling Dog (3,0)

1st, Collino’s, Imaginist A Griffin’s Mark, 21 months old tri colour, good length of head with equal proportions, dark brown almond eyes and scissor bite, neck of fair length into firm body, front legs viewed straight with ample bone, muscular rear quarters, well let down hocks providing power.

2nd, Williams’s, Mejola Top Gun JW, 23 months old sable and white, I really liked the look of this dog in profile for type, head of good length but he is a touch strong in skull, dark almond shaped eyes, ears tipped forward and scissor bite, arched neck into nice body shape with just enough coat today, his front legs were viewed straight with moderate round bone, positive mover, well presented and shown.

3rd, Spendelow’s, Uffspring Undeniable.

Post Graduate Dog (2,0)
1st, Ross’s, Siluto Blue Wizzard at Amberwish, 2 ½ years old blue merle, good ring presence, masculine well balanced head, flat skull just a touch full, dark eye with sweet expression, well carried ears, lovely arched neck set into well angulated shoulders, firm back, deep chest and well sprung ribs, good coat texture, moved freely with hocks a touch close.

2nd, Walton’s, Sassari Smudge, 3 years old tri colour, lovely head, nicely shaped dark eyes, good ear set but in repose, fair length of neck, back firm with rise over his loin, correct length to height, front legs viewed straight with moderate bone, movement needs to settle as he crosses his front, well presented.

Limit Dog (10,1)

1st, Crawford’s, Stregato Foolish Guy for Delseirios, 3 years old sable and white, instantly stood out, when I first looked at the class, he is a very masculine and workman like dog, but he still has elegance, his head is clean, with just the right amount of stop, nice almond shaped eye and good ear placement, he has a good dense coat that makes a lovely outline, well arched neck, straight front legs viewed with ample bone, nice tight feet short strong hocks, This dog puts everything into showing, good strong movement, well presented, Dog CC and Best of Breed.

2nd, Bartram’s, Ambartr King of The Ring, 8 years young, sable and white, handler told me his age and that impressed me even more, what a cracking male he is who was not showing his age at all, masculine appealing head, foreface and skull of equal length, almond shaped eye giving correct expression, topped off with good ear placement, scissor bite, fair reach of neck, good body shape with well sprung ribs, stands with impassive dignity, well presented coat, moved well. Best Veteran Dog and Best Veteran.

3rd, Wray-Ramsden’s, Takhisis Daggers at Dawn JW.

1st, Harvey’s, Afterglow Invocation, nearly 5 years old sable and white, strongly built through-out yet still appears as a dog of great beauty, long masculine head with almond shaped dark eyes set obliquely, scissor bite, muscular slightly arched neck into firm body, front legs parallel stood with ample bone and good feet, balanced angulation fore and aft that all came together on the move, strong yet positive mover well shown. 2nd, May’s, Camanna Careerchangeing for Maqueeba, 6 years old sable and white, he has a very elegant outline, clean wedge shaped head of medium length, dark almond shaped eye, ears carried correctly to give a very nice expression, good firm arched neck and correct length of back and depth of rib, well boned with front legs viewed straight, lovely hind angulation, moved out effortless with drive and was well presented

3rd, Blake’s, Corydon Christopher.

2nd, Corben’s, Astromelias Ulises via Caprioara (Imp Esp) 7 years young, sable and white with dark guard hairs on body, masculine head with the correct slight stop, lovely dark almond shaped eye, he uses his ears well, scissor bite, good length of neck, firm topline, good angulation, nice short hocks and he makes a very balanced picture when stood, smooth effortless movement.

1st, Vogan’s, Lenosann Wildest Dreams, 8 months old sable and white, feminine head with slight stop, good planes and the sweetest of eyes, well placed ears, scissor bite, lovely reach of neck, standing in well presented big puppy coat, moved out a touch wayward with smooth action.

1st, Davis and Walsh’s, Wicani Bellissima Rosschell, 9 months old blue merle, nice size, her profile shape presents a lovely picture, feminine head with parallel planes, correct eye placement giving a soft enquiring expression and ears on top, excellent neck and
shoulder, a level backline with rise over loin, sweeping turn of stifle and short hocks, a nice puppy coat, free mover just watch her front crossing, Best Puppy Bitch

2nd, Moore’s, Omordha Sweet Tooth, 9 months old blue merle, small blue merle, ultra feminine through-out and built on fine lines, head of medium length, medium size almond eye, front legs viewed straight with medium bone but stands narrow, she is not in full coat perhaps still to come, well bent stifle, crossing front on the move.

3rd, Congdon’s, Aaronwell Another Love.

Junior Bitch (4,1)

1st, Bartram’s, Ambartr’s Dignity and Pride, 13 months old sable and white, top size for her age, feminine well balanced head, flat skull, dark eye full of expression, well carried ears, scissor bite, lovely arched neck set into well angulated shoulders, correct topline, deep chest, well sprung ribs, good coat texture, moved freely but noticeably coat rolls on the move.

2nd, Wray-Ramsden’s, Takhisis Xtraordinary Lady Bwj24 Bel Jch, 16 months old, tricolour, in good condition but smaller than winner, a very attentive showgirl, feminine head of medium length yet nicely balanced and clean, left eye was showing white and haw (has it been damaged?) neat ears semi erect, well arched neck and strong firm back with tail carried low, front legs viewed straight, nice rear quarters with well let down hocks, moved positively.

2nd, Welsh’s, Thistlewing Gold Mist, 20 months old sable and white, medium size, shown in tip top condition, the very best of heads, dark eyes with sweet expression, fair length of neck, well angulated shoulders, deep chest with well sprung ribs, nice long tail carried low, front legs straight with moderate bone and oval feet, even on the move, well shown.

3rd, Jackson’s, Chantique Tickety Boo.

Post Graduate Bitch (4,0)

1st, Boyd & Mcgill’s, Afterhero Vanilla Chocolate for Wicani with Stregato (Imp Hun) 3 years old blue merle, stunning overall shape in profile, feminine head of good proportions, dark almond shaped eyes, well placed ears lightly tipped, scissor bite, good reach of neck, balanced fore and hind quarters, good body proportions with rise over the loin, coat of good texture nice tight catlike feet, tail of good length and carried well on the move, effortless movement coming and going, one to watch in the future. Reserve CC

2nd, Quince’s, Oakley Ice Queen for Karafaye (Imp Che) 2 years old blue merle, she has a balanced outline, flows from her head to her tail, lovely clean wedge shape head, correct eye shape topped off with well placed ears, lovely reach of neck, good length of back. ample bone, neat feet, a good honest bitch with no exaggerations, easily free flowing movement and driving action.

3rd, Whitaker’s, Siluto Blueberry Mist JW

1st’s, Gallagher’s, Stregato My Silver Tassie with Gemheid, 2 years old blue merle, good size, top quality and feminine throughout, clean head of medium length, sweet brown eyes a touch round and neat ears which she used, scissor bite, front legs viewed straight with excellent shoulder and moderate bone, good reach of neck into firm body, nice rear quarters, moved smooth and even.

2nd, Whitaker’s, Siluto Silvary Blue Moon, 2 ½ years old blue merle, smaller so just on size, feminine head of medium length, sweet combination eye colour, neat ears which she used, scissor bite, good reach of neck into firm body, front legs viewed straight with moderate bone, muscular rear quarters with well bent stifle, moved out sound and smooth, just like a bit more of her.

3rd, Walder’s, Hanvale Patsy Stone JW.

Open Bitch (7,2)

1st, Harvey’s, Wicani Blue Myrabella, 4 years old blue merle, top quality and feminine through-out, clean feminine head, sweet expression from her almond shaped brown eyes, small neat ears which she used all the time, front legs viewed straight with excellent shoulder and moderate bone, good reach of neck into firm back, her body makes a lovely shape, balanced rear quarters with well bent stifle but hocks need a trim, effortless and positive mover. Bitch CC.

2nd, Wray-Ramsden’s, Takhisis Lady of Mystery Bw24, 3 ½ years old sable and white, beautiful well balanced bitch, that flowed gracefully around the ring with ease and drive, she has a clean wedge shaped head, beautiful almond eye, well placed ears nicely tipped and scissor bite, well arched neck leading into lovely topline, front legs viewed straight with moderate round bone and adequate rear quarters providing drive.

3rd, Welsh’s, Thistlewing Magic Lady.

Veteran Bitch (3,0)

1st, Benton’s, Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle VW ShCEx, 10 ½ years young sable and white, who was not showing her age, most appealing feminine head of equal length with perceptible stop, dark almond shaped eye giving correct expression, topped off with small ear placement just tipping, good reach of neck and well sprung ribs giving deep body, well presented coat, moved brisk but a touch fast.

2nd, Beaden’s, Ch Saganan Blue Diamond JW, 7 ½ years young blue merle, shown with a big coat, she stands out for her lovely colour, I liked her long feminine head of equal proportions, almond shaped dark eyes, neat ears bang on top of her head, good length of neck, lovely body shape, moved out even with drive.

3rd, Steven’s, Cariadhaf Cookies and Cream for Cambrogan.
