WELSH KENNEL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
2024
ROUGH COLLIE CRITIQUE
Firstly I would like to thank the committee of the Welsh Kennel club for inviting me to judge Rough Collies at my first Challenge Certificate Appointment. It was a pleasure to judge the breed which is closest to my heart at this lovely show. I would like to say a big thank you to all exhibitors for bringing their beautiful dogs under me. I am sure I made a few exhibitors happy on the day and I am also sure a few were disappointed and for that I am sorry.
A big thank you also to both my lovely stewards who were both friendly and helpful and kept the ring running smoothly for me. Many thanks to you both.
I found hind quarters pretty good with not too many weak hocks and teeth were pretty good so keep up the good work.
Veteran Dog: 2 (1a)
1st Collino’s Wicani Altitude At Imaginist. 10 year old Tri colour male. It’s not the first time I have judged this male and each time he has not disappointed me. His head is so clean and masculine, yet he still has a lovely gentle kind expression and lovely dark almond shaped eyes. He has a lovely flat skull and well-placed ears which are well used. He is a good size male shown in good coat. His angulations are good both front and rear with a good lay of shoulder. On the move he is steady. My only small criticism is I would like a little less weight on him, but he is a real gentleman. I love him.
Minor Puppy Dog: 3
1st Tippers Tiganlea Turned To Black. 8 month old Tri colour male. A young male which is not familiar to me. I found his head pleasing with well-placed dark almond shaped eyes. His ears were correctly placed and used to his advantage. He was shown in good coat and was well presented. His tail was of a good length and his angulations were good. On the move it showed he was enjoying his day out.
2nd Radford-House Ingledene Spirit is Legend for Fivejays. 7 month old Tri colour male. He has a pleasing head with lovely well placed almond shaped eyes. His ears are well placed and used to his advantage. He has a good length of neck and a good body shape. Angulations are good with lovely tight feet. His movement was pleasing.
3rd Telfords Beldones Diamond Touch for Glenbowdene.
Puppy Dog: 2
1st Collino’s A Griffins Mark. 11 month old Tri colour male. The first time I saw this young male was recently at another show and what struck me first was his head. I found him striking and the same thing happened when I was actually able to get my hands on him. His head is so clean with no flare to the cheeks. He has a beautiful fill of muzzle and a good under jaw. His ears are well placed but a little light. He has lovely dark almond shaped eyes. His skull does need to flatten but this will come with age. He is a good size youngster with a good coat. He has a good lay of shoulder with good front and rear angulations. On the move he moved freely around the ring even though he does need to settle. However, he is young and a happy boy. BPIB
2nd Harris’s Geosamka loves to love. 10 month old Sable male shown in good coat. Completely different head type to 1. His head is much shorter and wider in the skull. His ears were well placed and used to his advantage. He has a good body shape and is good for bone. On the move he moved freely and kept his top line well while on the move.
Junior Dog: 2
1st Wray-Ramsden Takhisis Daggers at Dawn JW. 14 month old Sable male who moved very well. He wore a well fitted coat which showed his lovely outline. He was also well presented. He has good front and rear angulations with a good turn of stifle. Tail also of good length. His head is a little wide for me and his stop a little deeper than I would prefer. Ears are a little widely set but he does use them well.
2nd Turners Paulara Blaze of Glory. 12 month old Sable male shown in good coat. He is much shorter in the head than I would prefer with a much deeper stop and wider skull. His eyes are dark, and he gives a kind expression. I would also prefer more body length. He is good for bone with good tight feet. On the move he was pleasing.
Novice Dog: 2
1st Parnhams Caribbean Blue Sky Actis To Samante (imp pol) 3 year old Blue male shown in good coat. He has a good body shape with a good level top line.
