Tunbridge Wells Open Show – 27th July 2024

Thank you to the officers & committee for inviting me to officiate at their open show, celebrating their 140th Anniversary, congratulations that is quite an achievement.  The day had a wonderful atmosphere, helped by beautiful weather and fabulous singers.

Rough Collie Puppy (1/0)
1st – Wells Gataj Little Miss Sassy at Terelimon, 8 months feminine sable & white female, sweet eye and expression, flat skull, still needs to develop in foreface and muzzle, correct ears which she used well, sufficient length of neck, reasonable shoulder placement, well sprung ribs, presented in good condition, good movement, she was a little unsettled today by the noise of the music, to be critical I would like her to be slightly bigger, pleased to award her BP, and see her win Pastoral Puppy Group 4.  Well done.

Rough Collie Junior (1/0)
1st – Toogoods Hanvale Ralph Lauren, 13 months masculine sable & white male, head is very well balanced, with the correct amount of stop, flat skull, ears of correct size and used to his advantage, eyes helped to give him a lovely expression, well arched neck, leading to well laid back shoulders, deep chest and well sprung ribs, good length of back, tail of good length, just carried a little high at times, but he’s still young so hopefully this will improve, moved well and with purpose, very well presented, I was pleased to award him BOB.

Rough Collie Post Graduate (3/1)
1st – Repeat of Junior
2nd – Perrotts Gataj Lightning Flash, 2 years sable & white male, good head and expression, correct eye shape, flat skull, ears carried a little light, reasonable length of neck, good shoulder placement, deep chest and well sprung ribs, ample bone, presented in good condition, moved well, but he too was rather proud of his tail which was a little short.

Rough Collie Open (3/1)
1st – Perrotts Gataj One Moment in Time, 2 ½ years sable & white female, feminine head and expression, flat skull, sweet eye, ears a little light, reasonable length of neck, good shoulders and length of back, well bent stifle, tail carried well, presented in good condition, steady movement, pleased to award her RBOB.
2nd – Bardleys Aqualita Miss Moneypenny, 6 year shaded sable & white female, different type to 1st, but still a lot to like, heavier set, good head and eye, flat skull, ears a little heavy, sufficient neck, good shoulders, well sprung ribs, deep chest, good length of back, presented in good condition, moved well, just not co-operating with her owner, and didn’t want to make the most of herself.
