COLLIE ASSOCIATION 13.10.24 SMOOTH COLLIE (Without CCs)

Very nice invitation to follow Rough Collies at their Collie Ass. Championship Show. I had a quality entry of some fine dogs and bitches with very few absentees, a few of my collies were out of coat or going out but I am not mentioning this is the reports as none really lost out on this point as a coat will return. A challenge between the Rough and Smooths took place at the end of the days judging unfortunately although they put up a very strong and sound moving challenge both my BOB and BP Smooths lost out to the stylish Rough bitch (who I myself had given a RCC) but in the end today she was tired and had given up. Although a late finish my two very helpful stewards Donna Baker and Derrick Farthing stayed to the end.

VD/B (7,3) 1 Lustys’ Ch Blamorder Ice Cream Dream. Headed a quality class of the older generation I see that her litter sister was 3rd all three of my winners are in their 9th year with lovely bodies and still retaining good movement. My winner was such an attractive girl on the stance and fore filled my idea of the breed. Very feminine clean wedge shaped head, well positioned and used ears with dark open eyes, correct under jaw. Holds her head proudly on a good strong slightly arched neck with clean throat. Well angled front with depth to her chest. Correct firm broad backline over a nice body with substance, depth and well ribbed back into a strong short loin. Body covered in a well conditioned and well marked ticked merle and tan jacket with nice white collie markings. Muscular hindquarters with moderate return of stifle and nice hocks well let down. Very free sound mover with correct front and powerful rear drive, tail could be a bit lower carried. BV 2 Smiths’ Ch/Multi Ch Winter Is Coming To Tentola Looked every part the male on the stack and worked well with his handler. A masculine correctly shaped head with clean lines just a little strong in his muzzle width, strong jaw line. Ear set and carriage could be better, kind alert expressive dark open eyes. Strong arched neck into well laid shoulders with a firm broad backline with correct rise and nice rump and tail set. Not the front angulation of my winner but had good depth to his chest. Lovely strength and tone to his body with substance, depth and well ribbed back into a strong loin. Beautiful colour and marking to his blue merle and tan jacket with white collie markings. Strong hindquarters, return of stifle with nice hocks. Moved out soundly on well boned and balanced legs and lovely tight arched feet with nice correct front reach and a powerful rear drive. PD (1) 1 howard, howard and forts’ Impressive on the stack with the correct balance and build for his age, and for his tender 11 months worked very well with his handler. For me his head could be better balanced, having nice strength to his flat skull with well set and used ears and enough stop, but I would like less width across his muzzle and between his very expressive open eyes, making cleaner finer lines, good jaw strength. Holds his head well on a nice slightly arched strong neck into clean shoulders, would have liked a little more chest depth and shoulder to upper arm angulation. Super body under a firm balanced backline, lovely weight and depth and so well ribbed back into a strong loin. Good rump and tail carriage. So well presented in a harsh textured flat Blue merle and tan jacket. Balanced and well boned legs and compact arched feet a very sound mover with correct action BPD see he is by my RBD

JD (2) 1 Acfords’ Coneypark Mattie Brown very nice to look at on the stance and had a lovely outline and build for 14 months having a very nice body shape. Lovely head with nice clean lines, nice flat skull with well set ears but could be used better to advantage. Nice eye shape and colour with correctly positioned stop, and good under jaw. Holds head well on good slightly arched neck into well set and sloping shoulder into a firm level broad backline to a nice rump and well set and held tail of good length. Correct front angulation and depth of chest, well ribbed back in a body with enough depth and substance, and covered in a well presented shaded sable and white smooth flat coat. Nice balanced legs well boned with tight arched compact feet a stylish mover once he settled and was sound. 2 Metcalfs’ Koczkodan Well I Never, slightly older but still 14 months with a nicely balanced head of good wedge shape and having nice clean lines, well set on ears, eye colour spoils expression hopefully will darken with age. Good stop position and jaw strength. Slightly arched neck could be longer, well set shoulders and a firm level backline to correct rear angulation, well set on and carried tail. Would have liked more depth to his chest, and a stronger front angulation. Body well ribbed back but lacked in body depth and substance and for his age would like more weight. Well presented smooth flat coat, nicely boned legs and compact feet, moved out well with nice sound action.

PGD (3,1) 1 Leavesleys’ Lizoni Lone Ranger Very attractive well coated Tri slightly smaller in size and balance than my second but felt he was more correct. I loved his head with correct wedge shape and lovely clean lines. Nice flat skull with well set on ears used well, nice stop and well set apart dark expressive kind eyes. strong under jaw with nice blunt end. Good neck strength and shape into well set shoulders and a firm correct backline to nice rump and well set on tail of good length. Lovely front and rear angulation of a body well ribbed back into a strong short loin, body having strength, depth and substance and covered in a clean gleaming coal black tri marked flat coat. Well boned legs nicely balanced for his build, feet could have been tighter. Stylish very sound free mover with correct front reach and rear drive. 2 Rivas’ Manordeifi Rock On An attractive well marked shaded sable and white smooth flat coat in excellent condition. He stood slightly taller than my winner but was of a nice overall size, balance and build. Nice masculine head of good overall balance but his skull is stronger and broader, ears could be better set and used to advantage., enough stop, nice open eyes with kind look and good colour. Nice blunt muzzle and jaw strength. Good neck length well set sloping shoulders firm correct back- line with tail set a little high and carried high on the move. Good body and well ribbed back with a short strong loin. Would like more depth of chest with better stance on his front legs as stands and moves out at elbow. Lovely condition and presentation to his flat smooth shaded sable and white jacket. Nice hindquarters with good tone, return of stifle and let down hocks. Moved out ok.

LD (4) 1 Robertsons’ Wynele Strike One I really liked the overall type to this well built and balanced 2 year old male but on going over a dog of his age I would have like more depth to his chest and body. Lovely head of a good wedge shape so well built and balanced, nice ears well used, dark expressive kind open eyes, well set stop, nice jaw strength. Holds head proudly on a good slightly arched neck of good length. Correctly set shoulder into a broader backline of strength with correct rise over his loin and fall to a well set and carried tail. Enough front angulation and good strength to his hindquarters, nice return of stifle and let down hocks. Well presented and coated Tri with a good harsh texture and undercoat. Very well boned and balanced straight legs and compact arched feet, stylish free mover with good front reach and powerful rear drive. 2 Frenchs’ Breckamore All Guns Blazing, another I liked the type and balance of on the stack where he looked very impressive. Nice size and build and coated in a well textured merle and tan coat with white markings, a very large black patch on one side makes him look a little long and does distract on the move. Very attractive well balanced masculine wedge shaped head, well set and used ears, nice stop separates his open eyes having good colour and expression, nice muzzle and jaw strength. Holds head proudly on good neck length and well set sloping shoulders and firm correct backline and nice set on and carried tail. Would have liked more front angle although has a good depth to his chest and body which is well ribbed but needing to be further back, as he is a little long in loin. Nice hindquarters good stifle but is longer in his hocks, although he moved out well with nice action and is sound. 3 SEAGERS’ Blamorder Magic Maker With Freejack JW

OD (5,2) 1 Martins’ Sturtmoor Arceus’s Legacy JW. I was really impressed by the build and balanced of this 16 months old dog who had a lovely profile on the stack and worked so well with his handler on the move. Stunning well moulded and marked wedge-shaped head with lovely balance and clean line. Lovely flat skull with well set and used ears, correct positioning of his stop separated his dark kind open eyes, lovely width of muzzle and strong under jaw. Very proud head carriage on a good slightly arched neck into well laid sloping shoulders and a firm broad backline with correct rise over his loin with nice rump and well set and carried correct length of tail. Good shoulder to upper arm angle with depth to his chest and his body with substance, lovely spring of rib being well back. Presented so well in an attractive well marked short shaded sable and white fine textured double coat. Muscular hindquarters, with nice return of stifle and short let down hocks, well boned and balanced legs and tight arched and padded feet making him a very stylish sound mover with good front action and powerful rear drive. Should have a bright future.BDiB BOS Res BOB 2 Sewells’ Ch Wynele Strike It Rich To Lewarne JW Pressed my winner hard for the top spot and is a lovely dog on the stance and fits all that is required by the breed. Has the most stunning head correctly wedge shaped with clean lines giving that total balance. Today his ears needed to be better carried and he did not want to use his ears, which lost his expression. Has open dark intelligent eyes, good central stop, muzzle and strong jaw line. Holds his head well on a good slightly archd neck into well laid back shoulders and a firm strong broad back with a slight rise over his loin, a strong rump and well set and carried tail. Has a lovely depth to his chest and body having good weight and substance, being well ribbed back into a short loin. Lovely tone to his hindquarters, with good return of stifle and let down hocks. Stylish Tri coloured coat with coal black and rich tan, with correct white markings. Lovely mover on balanced and well boned legs and compact arched feet. 3 Wensleys’ Ch/Ir Ch Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive JW

PB (2) 1 Cole & Forts’ Shulune Imperial Rum Punch I see this young lady is the litter sister to my dog pup. I can see the lines and type but for me on the day she has the edge. She took my breath away as she moved out so soundly with reach and drive working so well with her handler. Then going over her she was just what I was looking for in a youngster, such a sweet well worked wedge shaped head, lovely skull well set and used ears, good stop separating her well set and shaped eyes, lovely balanced muzzle and strong jaw. Good tone to her neck with nice shape and length, well laid shoulders firm correct backline, nice rump with well set on tail of correct length. Nice angulation front and rear of a lovely deep body for her age with lovely sprung ribs well back into a short loin. Her Tri coloured coat had lovely markings and colour, the double coat was well presented and in a lovely and smooth, flat with correct harsh touch to texture. Her toned hindquarters have a good return of stifle and let down hocks. Super sound mover on lovely balanced and boned legs and tight compact feet. BPB BPIB In the challenger for BPIS Overall the very smart Rough dog puppy beat her but my opinion she out stripped him on her balance and outstanding movement. 2 Rundles’ Shulune Imperial Bonny Blu this too is another from the litter, for her 11 months she is a lovely size and balance and looked very nice on the stance but on putting my hands on her found she was far too thin and lacking in any body substance and tone. Such a pretty head so well marked in merle lovely shape and balance, nice correct ears, lovely eyes and stop, good muzzle and has a good jaw line. Good neck to shoulder into a firm backline being a little longer with nice set on tail. Lacking depth of chest and needing more front angulation. Her ribs have sprung but needing to be further back into her loin which is a little long. Very pretty merle coat well marked could be in a better condition. Moved out well once she settled to the job, having balanced and boned legs and tight feet, Hope the owner manages to get the weight on as she could be very nice.

LB (5,2) 1 Jerretts’ Coldele Eternal Sunshine JW what’s in a name if only we had some sunshine this summer! Such an attractive girl of 22 months, very well built with a lovely overall balance. Stands well covering the ground on very nicely boned legs and tight arched feet. Very typical clean wedge shaped head with flat skull and well shaped alert ears, having a kind sweet expression from open darkly coloured eyes, correct positioned stop. Nice blunt muzzle. Held head well on good length of arched neck well toned into well laid back sloping shoulders with a firm level backline having a slight rise over her loin with good rump and well set on and carried tail. Nicly angulated front and rear of a well toned body with depth and her ribs well back into a short strong loin. Very attractive clean well presented rich sable and white harsh textured flat coat. Very sound free mover with nice side stride and correct front action and powerful rear drive. 2 Howards’ Shandlmain’s Sofistikate, another very typical lady who looked lovely on the stack and her balance was correct being of a nice height to her length. Very elegant head with clean wedge lines, nice flat skull well set on and used erect ears, a nice stop separated her dark kind intelligent open eyes, clean to her blunt muzzle and black nose. Holds herself well having a good length of arched neck into well laid back sloping shoulders and a firm level broad topline with a slight rise over the loin, good rump and well set on and carried tail. Good depth of chest and well angulated front with lovely straight forelegs well boned with tight arched feet. Lovely deep body with substance and well sprung ribs, nice strong hindquarters, well turned stifle and short hocks. Presented in a coal black with rich tan and white tri coat having good undercoat and harsh top jacket. OB (5,1) 1 Howards’ Ch Brackenhaye Heartbreaker At Shandlmain This was my star of the day I loved her outline and typical balance and build on the stance and on going over she did not disappoint. The most sweetest of balanced heads, correct clean wedge shape nice side taper with a blunt muzzle and black nose with a strong jaw. Expressive bright dark eyes. Holds her head proudly on the stance and move on an elegant arched neck of fair length into clean sloping shoulders. Correct firm broad backline over a body that has depth and good weight with well sprung ribs. Having a deep chest and being well angulated front and rear of her lovey body covered in a super well conditioned and marked harsh Tri coloured flat coat. Lovely boned and balanced legs and tight arched well padded feet, stylish elegant mover with great rear drive and correct front reach with a lovely side stride which really covered the ground. BB BOB Challenged well for the overall BIS spot under the BIS judge and really showed how one should move with reach and drive, but not to be her day. 2 Bentons’ Ch Brackenhaye Queen Of Hearts Of Oakestelle A most beautiful well put together girl who I have been lucky to judge before. Just stunning on the stance and so well collected together I see she is the full litter sister of my winner how lucky to breed two such lovely girls. Super type with the most feminine head of a clean wedge shape and lovely overall balance, well set and used ears, correctly positioned stop separating her dark attractive open alert eyes. Nice muzzle and strong jaw and black nose. Nice head carriage on a neck needing a little more length to my winners, well laid back into sloping shoulders into a broad backline with nice slight rise over her loin, nice rump and tail set. Lovely angles front and rear of her really well toned body that had well sprung ribs. Coat presentation and condition was good and had a super harsh texture to the black back coat with rich tan and lovely collie white markings of her tri coat. Moved out very soundly with corrct front reach and powerful rear drive, covered the ground so well.Res BB 3 Richardsons’ Lizoni Va Va Voom
