Collie Club Of Wales - Sub – Group Championship Show18th Aug 2024
BITCHES
I thank the Officers and Committee of the Collie Club of Wales for the invitation to judge Rough Collie Bitches at their Sub Group Championship Show (held in conjunction with the Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show) at the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd , Powys on Sunday 18th August 2024. Thanks also for the hospitality afforded to my wife and myself.
Overall I was pleased that the majority of the exhibits were sound and possessed many of the requirements specified by the Breed Standard. No exhibits were found to feature any issues that would be detrimental to the soundness, health and well being of the dog.
My Bitch CC winner and (via the referee/BIS judge) BOB & BIS was Hawkins’ & Foy’s “BELDONES JUST FOR FUN AT STARLENGER” and Res CC – Tipper’s “TIGANLEA TRUE HEARTS DESIRE”

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (2/2)
(1st) Hawkins’ & Foy’s – BELDONES CLASSIC TOUCH
A very young exhibit at just 6 months but what a showgirl. Good overall conformation, clean head with dark eye and neat ears sweet expression lacking in coat but that will grow . Moved soundly and was well handled and presented
(2nd) Lockyer’s -VICHY VUITTON OF DIRTY BOOTIES AT GATAJ Imp Deutch
8 month S/W in good coat and condition. Balanced conformation with a good reach of neck, pleasing expression, Well handled and presented but moved too loosely at the rear needs to tighten up but has plenty of time to do this.
PUPPY BITCH 3/3)
(1st) Lockyer’s - GATAJ EXOTIC GIRL
A 9 and a half month old S/W puppy well handled and presented. In good coat and condition, balanced conformation with good reach of neck. Clean head properties. Neat ears and correct dark almond shaped well placed eyes all combining to show her sweet feminine expression. Moved soundly and correctly. Could have a bright future. I was pleased to award her Best Puppy Bitch
(2nd) Lockyer’ GEOSAMKA LOVES KISS
A maturer S/W puppy at 11 months of age, lovely balanced shape, in good coat and condition. Correct head properties with neat ears which she could use to show her feminine expression. Moved soundly enough and was well handled and presented. Just preferred the expression of the winner.
(3rd) Growcott’s CHANTIQUE SENT FROM HEAVEN FOR LILLYWA
JUNIOR BITCH (4/3)
(1st) Congdon’s – ARRANWELL ABLE MABEL
A name to suit this S/W with a well balanced head and tight ears, a nice dark eye producing a sweet expression. Good conformation with an excellent reach of neck. In Good coat and condition , moved soundly and was well handled and presented.
(2nd) Turner’s – PAULARA BORN TO BE MY BABY
A S/W that stood 4 square showing very well. Clean head with good eye and neat ears, in good well conditioned coat that fitted the outline. Moved well with drive and was well handled and presented. Not a lot to choose between these two exhibits.
(3rd) Mills’ – HANVALE EDINA MONSOON AT LEMIVEE
YEARLING BITCH (1/1)
(1st) Mills’ – HANVALE EDINA MONSOON AT LEMIVEE
A nice quality shaped bitch that stood 3rd in Junior bitch. Stood alone in this class but deserved the 1st placing as she was in good coat and condition. A well balanced head with a sweet expression, moved soundly and was well handled and presented.

(2nd) Beardsworth’s - MAYSINDERSAPPHIRE REIGN
A Blue Merle with a coat of well broken colour. Good balanced conformation with a good reach of neck . Neat ear carriage when used showing a nice feminine expression. Good handling and presentation .. Moved well.
POST GRADUATE BITCH (2/2)
(1st) Tipper’s – TIGANLEA TRUE HEARTS DESIRE
A very pleasant S/W bitch that immediately appealed for her balanced conformation. In a good coat that complimented her outline. Well balanced head properties, nice dark eye and neat correctly placed ears all combining to produce that sweet expression. Moved correctly with drive and purpose. Very well handled and presented .. A strong contender for the CC but had to settle for the Reserve CC today .. another day – who knows ?
(2nd) Johnston’s - SEA DREAMER’S GRACY LOVE AT GEOSAMKA (Imp NLD)
Another well coated S/W bitch with a good conformation and a well balanced head. Good dark eye and neat well used ears providing that sweet feminine expression. Overall a very nice bitch but let herself down today with some sluggish movement .. but this can be rectified.
MID LIMIT BITCH (4/3)
(1st) Cronk’s – CHELBORN GAMBLER’S WISH
A S/W with a well balanced conformation carrying a well fitting well presented coat. Clean Head with sweet expression, dark correct shaped and placed eye and neat ear carriage. Well handled and superbly presented. Moved soundly covering the ground with ease. A top quality specimen.
(2nd) Congdon’s – RIVERSIDE SONG NEBRASKA AT AARONWELL (Imp ROM)
A very nice Tricolour with a good black and well groomed and presented coat. Sound conformation, clean head with a sweet expression – neat ear carriage and dark well placed eye. Moved very well with drive. Another quality bitch unlucky today to meet the winner whose expression won it for her today.
(3rd) Edwards & Bluck’s – PAULARA LUCY IN THE SKY FOR ELSHAJO
LIMIT BITCH (4/4)
(1st) Hawkins & Foy’s – BELDONES JUST FOR FUN AT STARLENGA
Ended up being my Star of the day. – a well balance and refined S/W bitch that oozed pure quality when handled. Excellent in conformation the well balance body covered by a well fitting coat of correct texture and colour. She had a very sweet feminine expression produced by the well balanced head with dark almond shaped correctly placed eyes and an excellent ear carriage. Well handled and presented and she moved correctly and effortlessly around the ring. A well deserved CC winner in competition from an excellent and strong line up and was pleased she went BOB and BIS on the nod of the referee and BIS show judge.
(2nd) Growcott’s – LILLYWAY LEMON BREEZE
Another top quality Tricolour bitch with a well balanced head with neat well placed ears and dark eye giving that desired sweet feminine expression. Good conformation everything in balance and an excellent fitting jet black coat of the correct texture covering the frame. Moved very well soundly covering the ground with ease. Well presented and handled.

(1st) Llewellyn’s – SALSINA SHARE THE LOVE
A magnificent S/W that appealed as soon as she entered the ring. Full of visual quality in a full immaculately groomed coat the showed off her outline beautifully. Clean balanced head with correct eye shape and colour with neat well placed ears all combining to give her the sweetest of expressions. Handling was perfect as was the presentation and .. in the class she moved soundly enough but in the challenge did not move well at all for some reason and unfortunately this cost her some higher awards.
(2nd) Lockyer’s – GATAJ GOOD TIME GIRL
Another well balanced conformation S/W bitch in Excellent coat and condition. Sweet expression, clean head with neat well used ears and correct shaped dark eye. Well handled and presented .. moved soundly around the ring.

A very well presented shaded sable – 7 and half years old in good coat and condition not showing any signs of age. Good head properties neat ear carriage which she could use and a good dark eye. Sweet expression stood and showed well. In good coat and condition groomed immaculately. Moved soundly and effortlessly around the ring and was well handled and presented – a credit to the owners.. Best Veteran
(2nd ) Beare’s – JEMSPARK MAID IN SECRET
An 8 years old S/W bitch in good coat and condition. Showed and moved well and had a balance confirmation. Well handled and presented.
