Yorkshire Collie Club Open Show 25th May 2024

Many thanks to the Yorkshire Collie Club for inviting me to judge the Smooth Collies at this show and for their hospitality, and to the exhibitors for entering their dogs for me to judge . All judging was completed outside , allowing the dogs to move without concern.

Veteran Dog /Bitch 3 (1)
1/ Benton's Ch. Oakestelle Venus de Milo - this almost 11 year old blue merle girl hides her age so well especially on the move . Clean head with no sign of coarseness. Well placed and used ears and dark eyes giving the desired expression, good neck and top line and well angulated front and rear allowing her to power around the ring with reach and drive .Well done to her owner for keeping her in such good condition. Best Veteran
2/ Cowling's. Koczkodan Serenity - tri -colour girl of 7 years . Impressed with a lovely body shape and condition. Pleasing head with well used ears , correct stop and well shaped dark eyes giving a lovely expression. Good front and rear and moved smoothly around the ring , just not the power of the winner .

Puppy Dog/Bitch. 1
1/. Howard's Shulune Imperial Inkheart with Casatentola - really liked this 7month blue merle dog puppy for his style and substance who ,once he has grown into his frame , should trouble the best .
Pleasing head with rich tan markings, correct stop and well used ears . Dark almond shaped eye giving him an appealing expression. Well made body and good bone . Moved well for his age .

Post Grad Dog/Bitch. 3(2)
1/. Leavesley's - Lizoni Lone Ranger - young tri colour male of almost 18 months and very much in the ' in-between' stage . Good length of head but needs to fill out in fore face as it appears over long at present . Used his ears well and has a nice eye and expression. Good neck and length of back , long tail . Moved OK , just needs to fill out and mature all over .

Open dog/Bitch 1
Benton's - Ch Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle - lovely headed tri colour bitch. Soft , sweet expression from dark eyes ,well used ears and correct stop , flat skull . Strong neck and top line , good front angulation and depth of chest . Nice length of back and turn of stifle . Moved well , presenting a feminine and well balanced picture. Best of Breed , Well done .
