Herts & Essex Border Canine Society 24th March 2024
Many thanks to the society for the invitation to judge these four lovely breeds, and to the exhibitors who were kind enough to give me an entry and allow me to go over their dogs.
Rough Collies.
Class 318 Puppy 3 (0) 1 st Wray-Ramsden’s Takhisis Daggers At Dawn-Very striking sable boy of 9mths. This young lad took my eye as soon as he entered the ring. Lovely balanced headpiece with good underjaw and expression although ears a little low. Presented a balanced outline with lovely strong neck into good shoulders. Moved very well around the ring for one so young. Presented in excellent condition.BOB, BP, PPG4 2 nd Collino’s Imaginist My Fair Lady – Very promising but raw young lady of 6mths. Loved her correct head and expression, great length of neck on to correctly angulated front balanced nicely at the rear flowing in to a correctly set and carried tail. Moved very well for a baby and will look forward to seeing her mature. 3 rd Gatt’s Imaginist Superior Sun.
Class 319 Junior 3 (0) 1 st Wray-Ramsden’s Takhisis Daggers At Dawn . 2 nd Radford-House & Durrants’s Kiss Me Kate Di Cambiano at Fivejays (Imp Ita) – 14mth old sable bitch with a good head piece giving a sweet expression. Good underjaw but would like ears set a bit higher. Moved well around the ring with good front and rear angulation but moving slightly toe in at the moment. 3 rd Collino’s Imaginist A Griffin’s Mark.
Class 320 Limit 2(0) 1 st Reeder’s Carristina Bluebell Wood- Masculine sable boy of 2yrs. Head a little strong for me but possessing a good underjaw and set on to a neck of good length leading to good shoulders and front angulation. Moved well around the ring maintaining topline and correct tail carriage. 2 nd Chaplin’s Takhisis Lysander-another sable boy approaching 3 years of age and similar to 1st in many respects. Again, his head was a little strong for me and I would prefer a tighter ear placement. Good length of neck on to shoulders balanced well with rear angulation. Moved around the ring well but tail carried a little high.
Class 321 Open 4(1) 1 st Benton’s Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakstelle – A striking 9 year old sable bitch who does not show her age. Presenting a lovely balanced outline with excellent angulation both front and rear. She moves around the ring with easy flowing movement and was the best mover of the day. I would prefer her head to have a little more underjaw and a little more stop to complete the picture and this is where she lost out in the challenge. RBOB 2 nd Radford-House and Durrant’s Ingledene Midnite Skye With Fivejays- A very pretty tri bitch of 3 years. Very attractive head piece with lovely expression and good underjaw, correct ear placement. Good length of neck onto good shoulders with balanced angulation in the rear. Would have liked a little more length in the body but moved soundly maintaining a good top line and tail carriage. Pushed the class winner hard. 3 rd May’s Camana Careerchangeing For Maqueeba
Smooth Collies.
Class 323 Junior 1 1 st Sewell’s Wynele Strike It Rich To Lewarne – Very masculine tri boy of 17months. Liked this male as a puppy and he has grown on well. Good expression from correct eye and ear placement with a good underjaw. Strong neck flows into correctly angulated front with balanced angulation behind. Presented in an excellent black jacket but possibly needing to lose a bit of puppy fat to preserve his topline. BOB.
Class 324 Limit 3 (2) 1 st Bemelman’s Moseliqa Proudfoot – A lighter built tri boy of 2 years. A good head with correctly set ears making for a gentle expression although I would prefer eyes to be a little more almond shaped. Moved actively around the ring with good drive from correct rear angulation, would like a little more length in upper arm to provide better balance.
Class 325 Open 4(0) 1 st Cowling’s Koczkodan Serenity – Lovely tri bitch who defies her 7 years and just gets better each time I see her. Very pleasing headpiece giving a sweet expression although ears could be set a little higher. Lovely balanced correct angulation allowing her to move very freely around the ring. Shown in excellent condition. Pushed hard in the line up. RBOB 2 nd Benton’s Oakstelle Artemis – 6yr old blue merle bitch with excellent blue colour. Lovely headpiece giving correct expression and balanced angulation allowing for easy active movement around the ring. Excess of white on the body pushed her to 2nd . 3 rd Benton’s Ch Oakstelle Venus De Milo VW ShCEx
