Ayrshire Collie Club
SAC Sunday 26th May 2024

Thank you to the committee of Ayrshire Collie for inviting me to judge your SAC classes at your May open show, thanks you to exhibitors who were sporting with my decisions and for bringing their lovely dogs under me, and to my steward for keeping the ring flowing smoothly. Its always nice to judge a breed that you love and I had a few hard decisions today.

Baby Puppy (2,1)
1st McCourts Roughrigg Rags n Riches,
lovely sable baby in good coat for age, stood very well for me to asses him, good head and sweet eye, lovely ears well set, good length of neck leading on to good shoulder placement, sound body just right for age. Moved well once settled, confident baby, good luck with him.
Special Junior Dog/Bitch (4,4)
1st Mitchells Avonfair A Million Dreams
My notes say “ a real eyecatcher”, 10 month sable girl who pulled out all the stops to win this good class, super head and expression, lovely sweet eye, good ear placement, hands on she has a lovely muscled body and groomed to perfection, good topline and strong well bent stifles, hocks as they should be. I’m sure she will have a bright future.
2nd Quince’s Oakley Ice Queen For Karafaye (imp che)
Another stunning example of the breed, a blue merle who has a beautiful coat which she just needs a tad more of to finish the picture.  Shows so well for her owner. Lovely head and sweet expression, ears are well placed, good length of neck, correct shoulder placement, good topline held on the move, she is another who was well muscled, a must for this breed in my eyes being in the pastoral group. Another that should do well as she matures.
Special Graduate Dog/Bitch (5,5)
1st Proctors Opernball At Intermittent Lake (imp svn)
Blue merle bitch of super quality, another well muscled girl , stands very well sweet head and expression, a bit reluctant to use her ears at times but this didn’t deter me from placing her highly as when erect are correctly set. Good body shape and well let down stifles, strong hocks which she uses on the move. Coat is in good condition and well groomed , really liked her size. Good luck with her.
2nd Mitchell’s Avonfair Aloysius
A young lad with a heavy coat which was well presented as always from this exhibitor, litter brother to my junior winner, what a lovely litter this must have been, sweet head and expression and good use of ears, body well muscled, once settled he moved well but gave his handler a hard time today, needs time to settle.

Special Open Dog/Bitch (8,4)
1st Quinces Thistlewing Celtic Soul for Karafaye
I have placed this girl highly previously when I judged and she didn’t disappoint today, infact is even better with age and in glorious coat. I just love her shape being a tad longer in body giving a lovely outline. She has a sweet head as did all my winners today, another well muscled specimen, she is a super mover which is most important for a pastoral  breed and Im sure she can do a days work. She stood on good feet and legs, straight and muscular, well sprung ribs with deep chest, good spring of rib. Hocks are strong which she uses on the move. Really like her.
2nd Watt’s Culbrae Red Again
Six year old sable male in excellent coat, another with a good head and expression, good length to neck and shoulders well placed, excellent spring of rib and good stifles, he is a good mover who could work all day.
