Scottish Breeds 08/10/2023

Firstly I would like to thank the hard working committee for offering me this appointment for which I am honoured, my ring stewards for their assistance and lastly but by no means least the hardy exhibitors who travelled in the aftermath of some serious heavy rainfall which has caused flooding across the country, and had a marked impact on show attendance across the breeds.

Class 35 Junior Dog 1,1a
Class 36 Novice Dog, 1entered
1st Crawfords Stregato Foolish Guy. 21 month old sable and white and so obviously male this boy stands proud. He is a lesson is excellent front reach and overall movement. There is so much to like about this boy as he matures and he will be interesting to watch in the future. He just needs to fill out more but has plenty of time to do so. Nice parallel head planes and wedge shaped head, ears on top and used well with good jaw and filling in muzzle, head in proportion to his neck length and length of body. His neck is super strong. Good angulation front and back, his front legs are right where they should be. Very easy yet powerful rear drive, and a nice side profile. Credit to his breeders and owner for his wonderful temperament.
Class 37 Post grad Dog 5, 1a, 1 wd.
1st and RBOB , Welsh’s Thistlewing Smoky Quarts. Not long turned 2 years old this boy is a head turner , he exudes masculinity. He is a fabulous shape and size. Still filing out he has a good depth of ribcage, he has a good strong body with a great top line. I particularly love his head shape being true wedge shaped with good jaw. His cheeks are clean and ear placement is good, ears well used and correct eye to complete a really beautiful expression. He stands on good bone, head carried proudly on a lovely arched yet strong neck, correct shoulder with good front and rear angulation , good bend of stifle and muscle first and second thigh to allow easy strong yet free flowing movement in all directions. Being picky in the challenge is just preferred the BOB rear movement better.
2nd Brodies Shanaburn country road. Same age to the first, this shaded sable dog Is a little bit smaller and of a shorter head type but also very masculine and attractive. He moves well and with ease and makes a nice picture standing. He has a lovely eye, dark and portraying a kind expression. Fabulous fill to muzzle and great ear carriage. He is balanced once he stands correctly , with a well developed body for his age. Good depth and spring of rib and strong top line. Excellent muscling of the thighs. Lovely feet. Moved better in rear than 3rd and of more outgoing temperament.

Class 38 Open Dog 5, 4a
1st Proctors Wilmaranna Out Of The Blue for Cathbri.  Just shy of 7 years old and aging well, I have judged this blue merle before and this dog has one of the most beautiful expressions. I have thought this each time I have judged him. He has a very correct in head, good length and depth with a well filled muzzle and well placed and used ears. Beautiful coloured ,shaped and excellently placed eyes. Well made body standing on good bone, reasonable length of neck and good length to height ratio, strong loin. Ribs are deep and well sprung. Excellent rear angulation, such a positive mover. Another of really good temperament.
Class 39 Puppy Bitch, 4, 1a
A class of 3 lovely puppies of promise
1st and BPIB Proctors Didek Moonshine for Cathbri. Younger and Smaller than 2nd and 3rd, I hope this puppy can grow on some more in the next couple of months , at 9 months old she still has time on her side. This young tricolour is well proportioned and presents a balanced profile. Lovely wedge shaped head, parallel head planes and a good fore face and underjaw. Sweet expression. Superb ears, used all the time, making her appear very alert. Good shoulder lay and front reach, decent bend of stifle and easy movement. Moves well enough for age, very keen. Lovely length of tail. A really happy puppy.
2nd Macdonalds Brilyn look at me. 11 months old and very pretty sable and white. More mature than 1 and 3 she is a lovely size and shape. I preferred the ear carriage of 1, with this girl having slightly wider ears. Good wedge shaped head, correct eye shape and colour with a really soft expression. Well filled muzzle and good jaw. There is a lot to like. Good bone and lovely feet, excellent proportions of height to length. A little more straight in stifle and longer in hock than 1. Moves with ease, just needs to tighten up as is the same for most puppies. Another happy puppy.
3rd Barrs Roughrigg Ragnfrid. 11 month old sable and white, a pretty girl much less sure of herself than the first 2 but with time will come confidence. Lovely shape and size.
Class 40 Junior Bitch 3, 2a
1st Brodies Starlenga all for it. Almost 16 months old and very feminine, well marked with a gleaming white collar and good black coat. Profile is balanced, decent wedge shape to head and fabulous bang on top and used ears. I would prefer a slightly bigger eye and a softer expression. Good length of body and depth to ribcage. Shapely with a lovely arch to her neck and rise over loin. Good muscle , excellent bone in front and rear legs. Super tail. Moves ok, just needs to tighten up a little.
Class 41 Novice Bitch 1,1a
Class 42 Post grad Bitch 5, 2a
1st and BOB Gee’s Ingledene Powdered Sugar. This 21 month old blue merle is super elegant and feminine. I was pleased to award her BOB. She has so many virtues, excelling In movement , shape and head properties. Such a clean, balanced head of good length , wedge shaped with correct stop, lovely foreface, clean cheeks and superb underjaw. Kind , correctly  shaped brown eye, with such a knowing intelligent look and excellent ears. Soft flowing lines from the back of her head down her strong, gracefully arched neck all the way to her slight rise of loin. Strong in legs and body, especially loin and holding good top line on the move. Excellent feet and angulation with correct shoulder lay and elbow placement allowing easy front reach and bend of stifle, length of thigh and hock for strong drive from behind, moves effortlessly.
2nd Clark Kerrs Uffspring Uniquely Mayd for Whitecraigs. Just coming back into coat it would be easy to discount this 4 and a half year old tricolour, when stood with 2 in full coat. The fresh coat coming in on her back and croup creates a bit of an uneven look at the moment, upon hands on this is not the case at all. Won her place due to her head properties. She has a really good length of head, correct stop and good filling in the foreface with a super underjaw and nice shape and size of eyes, brown in colour and very alert and intelligent looking. Ears require a lot of coaxing on her handlers part as she is reluctant to use them well, but they are adequately placed and well tipped. Very good bone, front angulation for me is better than the rear, I would prefer more bend of stifle however movement is generally decent in all directions, decent foot placement. Excellent feet.
3rd Hutchings Riverside Song Flor D’Luna at Scottrye (imp rom).

1st BOB , Rennies Diamondfox Sir Galahad (imp fin). Almost 16 month old male, sable and white of excellent size and body proportions. Masculine dog who presents a lovely profile, totally balanced in head and body, he stretches himself out to his advantage so you take notice of his neck, which is of good length and powerful. Head handles well, good length and depth, very well rounded muzzle and excellent underjaw. Lovely shape and placement of eye and super ears. Straight front legs, well laid shoulder , and excellent depth of ribs, strong body with firm loin and good bend of stifle with short hocks. Moves really well, holding top line.
