The London Collie Club 9th October 2022

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge this lovely breed. All the dogs entered were a credit to their owners. Presentation was very good. They all had such friendly and happy temperaments. It was a pleasure to judge them. Thank you to my Ring Steward Mrs Penny Sewell.

Smooth Collies
Veteran 2 (1 absent)
1st   Best veteran and Best Veteran in show. Benton’s CH Oakestelle Venus De Milo VW
Very elegant blue mere bitch just over 9 years. Well balanced clean head with correctly placed eyes and ears, lovely expression. She has super construction which reflected in her movement. A joy to watch.

Puppy 1
1st, Res BD & BP Bemelmans Moseliqa Proudfoot
8 ½ month old tri dog. A very appealing puppy. He has good front and rear angulation. Lovely arched neck. Just needs his ribs to developed more but this will come. Lovely head, correctly placed stop. Good ear carriage. Moved well.

Junior 1
1st BD & Best Opposite Sex in breed, Wensley’s Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive
Lovely tri dog full of exuberance and desire to please. 13 months old but has strong bone and good muscle tone. Good length of neck. Head is a clean wedge with flat skull and good stop. Correctly place almond shape eyes giving him a beautiful intelligent expression. Chest well developed. He has well placed shoulders and good turn of stifle. Because of excitement it takes him a while to settle on the move but once he does it is effortless and covers the ground with good drive from the rear.

1st Wensley’s Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive repeat
2nd Riva’s Manordeifi Rock On a pleasing shaded sable just over 2 years old. Not in his best coat but he is well made. Just had a tendency at times to stick his back leg at an awkward angle when standing to show, which slightly detracted from the overall picture on the day.

1st Bemelmans Oakastelle Asteria, 5 year old tri bitch, clean and balanced head. Correctly placed dark eye. Adequate neck and good bone. Good chest. Just moved a little close at the rear.

1st BB BOB & BIS Benton’s Brackenhaye Queen Of Hearts Of Oakestelle
This gorgeous bitch stopped me in my tracks. She is so well made from head to tail. Nothing out of proportion. So elegant, Ears beautifully set and her eye placement and shape gives her the sweetest and intelligent expression. Good shoulder and upper arm. Good stifles and hocks well let down. Her movement was a joy to watch and she could easily do a good days work.  She went BIS on the Referee Carolyn Waterhouse decision.

Open Bitch 2
1st   RBB & Res BOB Res BIS Benton’s Oakestelle Artemis ShCEx she is the daughter of the veteran winner class. Very clean head with flat skull. Lovely alert expression. Good front construction with strong bone. Well padded feet.  Good chest and length of back. Good stifles and well let down hocks. Good muscle tone. She moves effortless and freely.
2nd Lusty’s CH Blamorder Ice Cream Dream beautiful bm bitch, slightly stronger throughout than winner. She has very good front and rear angulation. Very clean head with correctly placed stop. Lovely alert expression. As her construction suggested she moved very well.
