IRISH COLLIE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 24th SEPTEMBER 2022

Many thanks to the Committee of Irish Collie Club for their invitation to Judge at their Championship Show, their true Irish hospitality and assistance with travel to and from Ferry. Thanks to Steward, Jim, for assistance on the day. A big thank you to the Exhibitors who made the journey for the Show from both UK and Southern Ireland – it is not a cheap excursion these days, so thanks for that. All dogs were immaculate and well turned out.

1.Iley’s, Beldones Harry Styles At Ileyda - NAF TAF – 8 ½ month b/m baby. Well off for size. Very pleasing head with well placed ears and correct eye. Excellent bone. Needs to tighten on the move. Beautifully presented.

1. Llewellyn’s, Avonfair Spellbound With Salsina NAF TAF – 10 month old s/w who quite literally gave me ‘goosebumps’ when I looked at him. Good for size and no mistaking he is a dog. Loveliest of heads and dreamy expression. For one so young the stop is correct and clean in head planes. Another with good bone. Correct length to height and reach of neck. Well proportioned throughout. Great length of tail. Wish him well for the future. My eye was continually drawn back to him and his super profile in the Challenge and delighted to award BPD, BPIS, RES CC

1. Lockyer’s, Gataj Out Of The Woods – S/w. Pleasing head and expression. Currently finer in foreface than I would like. Well set ears. Adequate reach of neck. Moved okay. Immaculate presentation.
2. Timmins’, Beldones Hunky Dory – S/s with dark eye. Pleasing head and excellent sized ears and placement. Moved okay. Not in full coat at the moment, however beautifully presented.

1. Kelly’s, Ballahanna All Bets Off – Now this fella is not a showing fool but the quality is there. Good length of head with a pleasing expression. Would like a sweeter eye. Well proportioned throughout. Moved okay. Unfortunately, I was unaware that his owner had had his hips done. So apologies for asking you to move him again faster. Hope you are on the road to recovery. Well presented.
2. Savage’s, Peblu Gold Reflection At Savataurus Jun Ch – S/w, correct oblique dark eye, ears just tipped over. Good overall shape and adequate reach of neck. Immaculate presentation. Moved well.

1. Lockyer’s, Ch Gataj Struck By Lightning – Flashy s/w who I could not get past today. How lovely to see a dog and handler at one with each other. He has the softest and most gentle of expressions with a well-rounded moulded foreface. Good underjaw. Correct stop and eye placement. Well set ears which were used constantly. Balanced with no coarseness to him. Desired bend of stifle. Tight feet. Presents a super profile. Presentation perfect. When asked, moved up a gear to move in the Challenge and take CC and BIS
2. Nealon’s, Ir Ch Ezzmare King Of Hearts – Pushed hard in Challenge for the Res CC – masculine throughout and has the length and height looked for. Would have liked a sweeter eye. Correct ear placement. Good bend of stifle. Perfect presentation

1. Hawkins & Foy’s, Beldones Sound Gold – Flashy g/s, pretty young lady. Dreamy expression from obliquely set eye and well placed stop. Ears bang on top. Balanced throughout. Attentive to handler. Another lacking in coat today but again what she had beautifully presented and showed off her profile to advantage. Moved well.
2. Melvin & Jopson’s, Lillyway Lemon Sparkle At Nithview – S/w with lovely head qualities from a dark eye, correct stop and ears bang on top. Good reach of neck and shoulder placement. Moved well. Excellent presentation.

1. Lockyer’s, Gataj Good Time Girl – What a pretty girl she is! Most feminine of expressions from correct eye and stop. Correct ear placement, which she used to her advantage. Super reach of neck. Good bend of stifle. Left her coat at home but what she had was fresh and well presented. Moved well.
2. Drewery’s, Ballahanna Bon Ami – Jet black tri. Pleasing head. Fuller eye, ears bang on top. Beautifully presented. Excellent handling and went well on the move.

1. Walker, Walker & Ritchie’s, Nelinka De Remember Our Love For Starlenga – Jet black tri who is balanced throughout. Love her expression. Well placed stop, moulded foreface and super dark almond eye. Correct ear set which she knows how to use. Lovely make and shape. Well off for bone. Move with drive and ease.
2. Mitchell’s, Salsina Secret Love Song At Avonfair – S/w who presents a very pleasing balanced overall picture. A wee bit unsettled and maybe just getting back into it after litter. Mum to Dog Res CC and BPB. Hopefully she will become more settled. Sweet expression, good ears, reach of neck and angulation. Excellent presentation. Not as steady on the move as 1st.

1. Iley’s, Arklethill Delilah At Ileyda JW – S/w. Presents a super profile both when standing and on the move, with desired level topline. Clean in head and super dark eye which is correct in size and placement. Truly at one with her handler and showed her ears off non-stop. Coat just starting to go. Nonetheless, beautifully presented. Lovely mover. Pushed hard for the CC today and delighted to award RES CC
2. Walker, Walker & Ritchie’s, Starlenga All About Me – Jet black tri. More compact than 1st but all in proportion. Lovely head qualities with a gorgeous dark eye and used ears to advantage. Great reach of neck. Lovely spring of rib. Balanced throughout. Moved well. Beautifully presented.
3. Lockyer’s, Gataj Girl’s Best Friend

1.Hawkins & Foy’s, Beldones Looks Like Fun – S/s. This girl is not as flashy as her well known Mum but, my goodness, on going over her she is very correct. Her head handles very well from a correctly shaped almond eye, set obliquely. Ears used as required and of the right size. Well placed stop and I love when you handle a foreface and it feels so right. Soft feminine expression. Balanced throughout with a super length to height ratio, length of tail and a profile that showed off her super reach of neck into well placed shoulders. Lovely spring of rib and sweeping bend of stifle. Excellent presentation. Change of handler for moving in the Challenge saw her at a better pace and she ‘drove’ round the Ring. Delighted to award her CC and RBIS
2. Shipp’s, Gillyflower Della Buca Delle Fate (IMP ITA) – Tad stronger in head than 1st. Pleasing head and expression. Used ears well. Balanced throughout. Lovely presentation. Have seen her move better.
