COLLIE CLUB OF WALES BREED CLUB OPEN SHOW
22nd OCTOBER 2022

First I wish to thank the Committee of this well run and friendly breed club for inviting me to judge Smooth Collies at their show.  I had a good entry of quality exhibits and thank the exhibitors who kindly allowed me to go over their dogs.  Movement on quite a few dogs was erratic today but I think that was mainly due to a relatively small ring for such an active and athletic breed.

Class 9 - Special Yearling Dog - 1 entry

  1.  Wensley’s Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive

Although he stood alone, this young and enthusiastic tricolour of 14 months has some lovely qualities.  He has a correct wedge shaped head with good planes, good ear set, lovely dark eyes and a blunt muzzle.  Deep chest, good length of body and well angulated throughout.  Movement a bit erratic today.  Very promising youngster. RBD

Class 10 - Limit Dog - 1 entry, 1 absent.

Class 11 - Open Dog - 1 entry

  1.  Martin’s Shandlmain Blu Chief

Upstanding blue merle dog.  Correct body shape, good bone, well balanced with good front and rear angulations.  Would prefer a more refined head as his depth of skull detracts from his otherwise sweet expression.  Moved out freely.

Class 12 - Veteran Dog or Bitch - 4 entries, 1 absent

  1.    Lusty’s CH/AM/CAN GR CH Cardross Red Dirt Road To Blamorder

Wow!  This dog commanded attention as soon as he stepped into the ring.  7 year old up to height sable male, good bone, oozing strength and working capability from every inch of him. Head in proportion and although it doesn’t detract from his kind expression, could be a little more refined.  Long neck leading to good shoulder and deep chest, muscular body and really well put together which accounted for his superb movement, covering the ground with ease. BD, BVD, BViB, BViS
2.     Benton’s Oakestelle Venus De Milo, VW,ShCEx
Quality blue merle bitch, very different in type to (1) but another oozing class.  Very feminine, sweet expression, clean head although ears were a little light today, long neck into good sloping shoulder.  Good angulations front and rear.  Moved very well.  BVB
3.         Moores’ Tomalca Buttons’N’Bows At Manordeifi

Class 13 - Special Yearling Bitch - 3 entries
1.         Jerrett’s Coldelee Eternal Sunshine
Very promising sable puppy, just 6 months old  and at her second show. Sweet temperament and good construction. Lovely deep chest, pretty head and long neck leading into good shoulder.  Everything in proportion.  Shown to advantage by her handler.  Moved well and in balance. RBB, BPB, BPiB, BPiS
2.         Moores’ Blamorder High Hopes for Manordeifi,
Lovely dark tricolour, clean head, well constructed with good angulation.  Feet could be better. Moved erratically and seemed out of sync. with her handler today.
3.         Lusty’s Blamorder The Hustler

Class 14 - Limit Bitch - 4 entries, 1 absent
1.         Lusty’s Dwell on Dreams
Impressed with the head on this bitch - lovely head planes, nice dark eyes and sweet expression. Good angulation throughout, deep chest, firm back and showing strength over loins.  Moved very well.
2.         Moores’ Blamorder Ridin On a Rainbow to Manordeifi
Nice shape and make on this bitch who moved enthusiastically around the ring.  Her feet seemed very long - maybe her nails could do with a trim.
3.         Shandlmain’s Shuri with Sturtmoor

Class 15 - Open Bitch - 2 entries
1.         Benton’s Oakestelle Artemis ShCEx
Pretty blue merle bitch, correct ears, sweet expression.  Quite a petite bitch but well constructed with good angulations.  I would prefer to see a little more bone.  She moved very well.  BB, RBOB,BOSiB

2.         Martin’s Sturtmoor Kurious Kadence
Very taken with this tricolour bitch who had a lovely body shape, good bone and moved out extremely well.  Unlucky to meet (1) today.
