The British Collie Club
Open show – Smooth Collies
Saturday 3rd December 2022
I would like to start by thanking British Collie club for offering me this appointment. I had a lovely entry and I am greatly appreciative to all those exhibitors who gave me the opportunity to judge their Smooth Collies
Class 1 – Veteran 1
- CH OAKESTELLE VENUS DE MILO VW ShCEx – Miss M K Benton
A blue girl who I have judged before in her younger days. Maturity has mellowed her expression, her head is fine but of good proportions. Lovely shape and overall balance. For 9 years old she is a credit to her owner for her fitness and muscle tone Moved well. BVIB. I was delighted to agree with my co judge to award her BVIS.
Class 2 – Puppy Dog 2
- COLDELEE JUPITER RISES WITH BLAMORDER – Miss K & Miss A Warren & Lusty
Tri dog who was a little excitable on the move. He has good bone and substance, his head is clean and well proportioned with flat skull. Well placed ears which he used to his advantage, giving a masculine expression. Good depth to chest and correct angulations front and rear. Would like to see him outside in a bigger ring. RBD
- BRECKAMORE ALL GUNS BLAZING – Ms A French
Blue dog who has super bone, substance and excellent tight feet for one so young. Masculine head, well placed eye and good filling to foreface. He was a little reluctant to use his ears but when he did these enhanced his expression. On the move he was not confident on the mats so he was inclined to pace.
Class 3 – Junior Dog 1
- CONSTELLA HAZY COSMIC JIVE JW – Mr M & Mrs R Wensley
Tri dog who has a lovely masculine head well tipped and used ears and nicely placed dark eye. Good length of neck and firm back. Well-proportioned which gave balance when standing and on the move. BD
Class 4 – Post graduate Dog 1
- CONSTELLA HAZY COSMIC JIVE JW – Mr M & Mrs R Wensley
As previous.
Class 5 – Open Dog
No Entries
Class 6 – Puppy Bitch 2 (1)
- COLDELEE ETERNAL SUNSHINE – Mrs D L Jerrett
From the moment this young sable entered the ring I could not take my eyes off her. She is super sweet and has the most pleasing expression, enhanced by a lovely dark well placed eye, well used and tipped ears. Standing she has a good length of neck, leading into correct shoulders, good length of back and she is well angulated. On the move she had a good length of stride which gave an effortless performance. I was thrilled to award her BPB, BPIB RBB and BPIS
Class 7 – Junior Bitch 1
- WYNELE WHATS THE STORY – Mr B Naulls
A shaded sable well built with good bone and spring of rib, pleasing expression just found head a little strong and broad in skull. Lovely dark almond shape to eye, well set ears with correct tip. Moved ok but was inclined to pace a little.
Class 8 – Post graduate Bitch
No Entries
Class 9 – Open Bitch 6 (1)
- BRACKENHAYE HEARTBREAKER AT SHANDLMAIN – Mrs C J & Mr M A Howard
Tri who was up to size but still feminine, clean head with good parallel planes, well filled foreface and lovely dark eye. Excellent depth to chest, nice length of neck, good angulations front and rear which showed in her movement, holding a good topline at all times. BB, BOB and RBIS
- BRAKENHAYE QUEEN OF HEARTS OF OAKESTELLE – Miss M K Benton
Tri who has a very feminine expression. Her head is balanced with correct stop and well placed dark eye, super neck and on the stack a super topline with good angulations front and rear. She seemed unsettled on the move and I have certainly seen her move far better, again one I think that would benefit from a larger ring and possibly being outside as she was in super condition and tone.
- FOXEARTH FABOSTINTA FOR BRECKAMORE – Ms A French
- WYNELE OBSESSION - Mr B Naulls
- OAKESTELLE ARTEMIS ShCEx - Miss M K Benton
Judge Ms J Milligan (Alfsden)
