2nd January 2026

Just before the main festivities, I was sorry to hear directly from Delia Moores, that her Mother, Eira had passed away very suddenly.
Eira founded the Manordeifi kennel of Roughs and Daughter Delia has continued with the same kennel name but in Smooths.
Both breeds have achieved so much for their respective breeds, many may not recall that Eira bred Roughs from the mid 1970’s onwards, basing many of her winners on names such as Ch Geoffdon Westlynn’s Wayside Boy, Ch Brettonpark Whatzizname, Ch Thistleblue Blueland Boy, Mywicks Ebony Raider and Dorgano Double Ace of Rokeby. These produced many winners, including M Ebony Rock, M Gwendoly,M Silver Sixpence to name just a very few.
Although many achieved KCSB, I cannot recall a Ch in Roughs, but in Smooths, Eira and Delia did achieve quite a few. Some of her more recent winners were Ingledene Young Lover at Manordeifi and Rossavon Loves Young Dream at Manordeifi
Eira was an approved CC awarding judge for both breeds and last judged Roughs at Bournemouth in 2010 and prior to that at WECS where she judged the males.
Once the funeral details are available, these will be published via the Collie-Life site.
Before Xmas a few show results were sent in, one from Lorraine Morey, who let me know that at his 2nd show, at just 6 months old, her Brookynut Clyde Barrow attended Totnes & District CS Limit show, where the judge was Marina White and he came home with BOB, BPIB and PPG1.
Megan Gatt also let me know of some nice wins for her and Koda, who is actually Wicani Belladonna at Bearven as she went to Woolwich & Bexley Open and took home BOB and G2 from judge Matt Garnham (Carmeltcho) followed by another show where Sandi Tadd was judging and again got BOB and G4 and this, I think , was Wealdstone & Northolt CS.
The final review for 2025, is available as a Stand-Alone document under the current Breed Notes section

From Delia Moores -

It is with deepest sadness that I have to tell you that my mum, Eira Moores passed away on Monday 15th December. Missing her so much. Mum bought our first “show” Rough Collie in 1965 from Mr & Mrs Squirrell, Whim of Wrenarve” (by Ch Lowerpark Black Buccaneer x Wild Honey of Wrenarve) who was a constant winner in the show ring; caught the “showing bug” and got hooked. Four foundation bitches followed - Mywicks Panda (by Ch Mywicks Meadow Lancer x Mywicks Rampton Maid), Gorgess Black Lucretia (by Gorjess Bronze Arrow x Gorjess Harlem Honey), Honeydew of Vandeana (by Gorjess Bronze Arrow x Vandeana Jefsfire Jolaine) and Brettonpark Dixie Darling (by Ch Brettonpark Whatzizname x Brettonpark Fan Fair) and from these girls many show-winning collies followed. In the beginning we were farming in Pembrokeshire where our affix, Manordeifi (taken from the parish we lived in) was registered. In 1970 we gave up farming and moved to Hereford which made it easier to get to shows. Many of Mum’s Collies gained their stud book numbers - M Tri Satin, Mywicks M Nickel Coin, Carrie Anne of M, M Gwendoly who along with Honeydew & Dixie Darling to name a few. Nickel Coin, Gwendoly (shown by Mr & Mrs Ashwell) & Gayadams Hera at M won their Junior Warrants. Nickel Coin also won a RCC, shown by Des Rippon. Noel & Chris Collins’ Triburle Black Panther (x M. Blue Sapphire) won 2 x RCCs & JW and Keith MacGregor’s Norsdean Emma Peel (x M Cupid Doll) also won a RCC. Mum bred her last litter in 1989 out of a Gwendoly daughter keeping M Grandee who gave her many happy memories. Mum’s last Rough Collies were Ingledene Young Lover at Manordeifi and his daughter Rossavon Loves Young Dream at M. who she lost in 2016. At that time Mum still had a few Smooth Collies which went back to her old Rough Collie lines - more on these in the Smooth Collie notes. Mum also judged both breeds, awarding CCs in both breeds. Her last Rough Collie appointments included WECS 2007 & Bounemouth 2010. Mum’s funeral will take place at Hereford Crematorium on Wednesday 21 st January at 12.15pm. Donations to St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford. Please let me know if you are planning to come. Delia
