Congratulations are in order for another great Breed Promotion, this time heard on national radio 2 through the Romesh Ranganathan programme, the section known as Pitch Your Passion held last Saturday. This is where two subjects are promoted and a poll follows for the best!
However, there is a time limit of just 45 seconds to promote your Passion, and so well done to our own BHC, Jo Williams (Mejola) for her input on Lassie!  I know how difficult this must have been – try it at home! I am not sure that the opposition of Pork Pies was a fair choice, but to those who heard, took part and voted, grateful thanks on behalf of our breed.
I have been contacted by Cheryl Lockett who has let me know that the family of Kelly Shafique (Razda) would be very grateful if anyone who has memories of Kelly could let them know. They can be contacted on FB via Cheryl Lockett
Kelly and her late husband had a small kennel of Roughs and later had a good kennel of Border Collies. My one abiding memory of Kelly was when we won our 3rd and crowing CC with Ch Antoc Academy Award at the Dam Park Pavilion in Ayr and she was sitting, happily with her dog at the station waiting for the train back home. Always beautifully dressed, I just recall her and the lovely flip-flop type sandals. During the late 1980’s with one particular blue merle being their pride and joy. He was Razda Silver Jingle who was born in 1977 and sired by Ch Cathanbrae Polar Moon at Pelido, out of Razda Silver Filigree. Others from the kennel included dogs sired by Ch Karava Kornishman, Ch Danvis Ladyvale Blue Mist, Ch Brilyn Rum’n’Black all of whom did some good winning.
EACA held their double Open shows on Sunday with similar entries at both shows for the judges, who were: David Knights (Lelaps) at show 1 and Janine Hanson (Jards) at show 2
Apart from some very blustery conditions later in the day, all coped well and a new innovation – one which I understand may well become a standard feature, the delivery by a local Fish n Chip shop of deliveries to those who ordered. What a great idea, even on a Sunday.
Now back to the show where show 1 had 54 entries, made up from at least 13 from committee and NFC of 5 for David Knights (Lelaps) who also judged Smooths and BIS.
Best Dog went to Ch Mejola Top Gun (Maverick) owned and shown by Show Secretary, Jo Williams. RBD was Kelekona Hearts of Gold JW for Cathy Cooper (also on Committee) BPD was Ambartr Hearts of Steel from Kelekona, also owned by Cathy. Veteran was won by Ingledene Aramis AW(S) for Zoe Alexander, another committee member.
Bitches were headed by Mejola Edge of Glory and Jo Williams, who won Yearling, RBB to the Open winner, Ch Riverside Song Desiderata at Aaronwell (Imp Rom) for John Congdon & Sue Hawkins. BPB was Kelekona Pearls of Hope from MP and Cathy Cooper. Best Veteran went to Di Collino and Imaginist Willow Wren.
David’s final result was BOB and BIS to the rough to Ch Mejola Top Gun, RBOB & BOS to Mejola Edge of Glory, but RBIS to the smooth Ch Wynele Double Trouble at Foxearth for Claire Norman, Birgit & Trevor Hayward. BPIB and BPIS was Kelekona Pearls of Hope and BVIB to Imaginist  Willow Wren but lost out to Ch Oakestelle Artemis ShCEx VW for BVIS
Show 2 with Janine Hanson (Jards) had virtually the same exhibits, bar 2 and although she judged both breeds, BIS was decided by Marion Withers, EACA Health Representative.
Janine’s winners were BD, Ladnar Call My Name JW (Vince) for Sue and Dave Randall, RBD Di Collino and Imaginist A Griffin’s Mark, BPD to Ambartr Hearts of Steel from Kelekona and Ambartr King of the Ring took Veteran for Colin Bartram
In bitches, Sassari Snow Simmer For Tudorlyn and Linda Philpin won Veteran, BPB was Kelekona Pearls of Hope for Cathy Cooper with BB going to Mejola Some Girls Do for Jo Williams with Aaronwell Able Mabel taking RBB for John and Sue.
Her BOB was the bitch, Mejola Some Girls Do, RBOB and BOSIB to Vince, Ladnar Call My Name, BVIB to Sassari Snow Shimmer for Tudorlyn and BPIB to Kelekona Pearls of Hope.
BIS judged by Marion Withers was the smooth, Ch Blamorder Double Or Quits of Oakestelle JW, with Mejola Some Girls Do. BVIS to the smooth, owned by Marianne,  Oakestelle Artemis JW ShCEx VW. BPIS was the rough as there were no smooth pups.
A newsy message from Stacy Steven, a member of our Crufts 4th place winning Obreedience Team,  Diamonds In The Rough, who writes, as one proud breeder, that “It's obedience show season once again. At our first show of the year Barra Cambrogan's Blissful Barra won the KCGS special class which has won her a place in the Crufts final next year!  Brooke , Cambrogan Blowin a Hoolie came a respectable 5th place. This is Brookes first time competing as she only started obedience classes with her late January. She won the pre-beginners class , beating a substantial number of dogs to top spot including her daughter. I have to say I'm really proud as the breeder of these girls. They get lots of praise and attention which is lovely for the breed.”
Finally, Stefani Flower has been out and about again with her Serenlas She’s On Trend who won PPG4 at Llanelli & District CS where Ed Forsey judged both the breed and Group
