Many thanks to Megan Gatt who is having a super run currently with her puppy, Wicani Belladonna, who has, according to a message received from Megan, who writes: ” Koda hoarded a nice collection of rosettes from Letton Hall Fun Dog show, then at Thame & Oxfordshire Koda got a 3rd in RC puppy, 2nd in AV Pastoral puppy and VHC in Pastoral Special Beginners.
But today Koda (Wicani Belladonna) got 1st in Puppy, BPIB and then BOB to top it off in the breed classes at Cambridge & County Open.
Kenai (Imaginist Superior Sun) got 1st in Post Graduate and then went on to receive RBOB.
Over the moon with both of their breed class results and a big thank you to both Cathy Cooper and  Michael Wensley for assisting with handling. It's much appreciated. On to the Groups. Koda got Pastoral Group 3 against the pastoral adults!! And then Pastoral Puppy Group 1! Absolutely smashed it.
A massive thank you to the breed judge, Sue Lee, and to the group judge Maggie Foreman, for thinking so highly of my dogs.”

Now to a local show for Denis & Mary Beardsworth, Oswestry & District Canine, where Abby Lusty was the breed judge. Having recently judged at Staffordshire Agricultural Show in May, had a smallish entry with Maysinder Sapphire Reign, currently handled by Mary, as Denis has an issue currently with his mobility, she took BOB and G3, also BPIB was Lenosann Wildest Dreams and the Vogan family who also won and took PPG2. Along with RBOB for them. Abby was both the breed and Group Judge. – Thanks again for letting me know of this lovely win for you both and I hope your mobility soon improves.

More news in from folk who attended the recent,East of England Ladies KA, I have had news from Marianne Benton, Cathy Cooper and a message from Cathy Jessop, on behalf of Pat Corben, so to enlighten you all. The judge for this event was Simon Burton and Cathy’s Kelekona Hearts of Gold won BOB ans Pastoral G3, Seoirison Shooting Star via Capriora took BPIB and Pastoral Puppy G1 whilst Marianne and Keira, Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle  went Best Veteran In Show under judge Megan Dodd, so a great showing for the breed and to all who contacted me, well done aand thank you.
Rightly or wrongly, I now have a complaint, which I have already raised, with  my concerns, directly with the WECS. It is with regard to their recent Ch show and this is not only from me but includes you and on behalf of the many, many other collie exhibitors in both breeds along with Julie Growcott who runs the show results pages on Collielife.
We all like to know results of shows, especially Club Ch shows, even more so if results are not supported by the major printers. As if often the case, unless you are present show results do not just HAPPEN they do need reporting and, in my case, there are deadlines set by Our Dogs for submission of breed notes. Contrary to common knowledge, both Julie and I do have a “life” outside of recording and reporting show results and to be contacted constantly with enquiries concerning the show results is both very time consuming and frustrating.
It was not until past 7pm on Sunday evening, after having asked on social media if the show actually happened, and if so, who won, that the Secretary mailed a “ so-called list of winners”. In a format, obviously copied direct from the original show catalogue. This document did in fact contain so many errors and omissions! Also, as there was some doubt as to the actual entry figures published prior to the event. A simple request, in this age of technology, a photo of the OFFICIAL show catalogue would also be appreciated, why do we have to wait until the WECS version of results , which also includes errors is sent afterwards? Most exhibitors have access to a “smart mobile phone” which are capable of photographing the catalogue, which when sent, can be accessed by those unable to attend! ASlso, as reported above, it is so good to receive news from any winners and this news is part of your Breed Notes, no news, no notes – Simple.
To those who did respond to a request for results, may I thank you all personally as I was able to gather information concerning this show. Your help is very much appreciated and all this information is shared gladly with others.
WECS hold their Ch show at the Sedgemoor Auction Centre, an indoor venue just off the M5 and is easily accessible to many. The judges for this event were Sue Randall, Ladnar, for dogs and Jane Margetts, Collingvale, for bitches. Cathy Howard, Shandlmain judged Smooths.  I did however note, that inline with many other shows, WECS had to extend their entries.
Back to the event, prior to the show, the entry was advertised as 28 males and 43 females, this in fact was an incorrect statement.  According to the “Secretary’s Spreadsheet” these numbers ended up as 26 and 36 – surely having obtained a proof copy from the printer, the original numbers stated appear to be the number of entries, not the number of dogs! The quoted figures then stated that from the entry of 26 dogs there were 8 absent leaving just 18 present. For females 36 with 19 absent with just 27 present. Having received, at last, the  OFFICIAL catalogue, I acan confirm there were 63 roughs entered overall, and this figure also included 1 NFC, so bringing it down to 62 competing. There were actually 24 males entered, with 8 absent. For females, 32 entries with  10 absent, bit for some reason my copy of the catalogue does not show any marked absent!
Sue, who has been having a wonderful time with her puppy last judged at London Collie last year and prior to that at CCW.
Her classes must have been a disappointment to both her and the Committee as over the scheduled 12 classes, the following emerged as class winners: Aaronwell Aybeecee at Marketdene, owned by Secretary, Margaret Scamp who was alone in Veteran;  Minor Puppy had 2 entered with 1 absent and the winner was Lynmead Designed With Love for Chantique for Chan & Andre; Two Puppy dogs competed, Gataj Time Will Tell and Chantique The Witcher with honours going to Melissa. Junior had 4 missing from the entry of 7 and this was won by now, Ch, Beldones Ivory Star handled by Odile as Brian was abroad on a judging assignment. Lucy Primmer was the single entry in Special Yearling with her  Winner of Dreams Angel Silvestre at Colcanis (Imp Bel) Bel Junior Champion.
Lynmead Written In the Stars for Chantique was the only entry in Maiden for Chan & Andre and there were no entries in Novice.  2 boys competed in Graduate with Jo Brooker winning this with Starlenga All About Majic with Corisian JW;  Post Grad had just 2 entered but one absent and this was won by Amalie Chance to Shine for Julia Bolt and he is listed as being in joint ownership with Anne Hollywood. Mid Limit (2) went to Cas Waterhouse with Lynmead Royal Lover. Limit also had 1 missing but was won by Serenlas Black Magic for owner Susan Hawkins. Open was the largest class of the day with no one absent from the entered 4 and this went to Noel and Christine wit Ch Triburle Bluebolero
The CC, his 4th went to now Ch Beldones Ivory Star, whose breeding I am sure you all know by now. The RDCC, thanks to a message from Christine went to her Open winner, Ch Triburle Bluebolero and BPD to Melissa and BVD to Margaret Scamp and her Aaronwell Aybeecee.
Jane Margetts was judging the ladies and her classes were very slightly better filled. Jane last judged at LCC in 2022, where she also judged the ladies.
Her class winners included: Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian JW who won Veteran but was alone. MPB had two young ladies competing and the winner was Lynmead Loves This Design for Cas Waterhouse; Chan and Andre were alone in Puppy with Chantique Away Wi The Fairies; Junior was a class of 6 with just 1 missing and heading this class was Salsina Blushing Rose for owner/breeder Jayne Llewellyn who beat Salsina’s My Girl of Marilake and Donna Baker who then won the next class of 3, Special Yearling. No entries in Maiden but alone in Novice was Amalie |Loves to Shimmy with Willowcombe for Mrs A Mills. A quick lead change for her resulted in Graduate being won by Samhaven Super Natural at Willowcombe in the same ownership. From the 4 on parade of 6 entered, winning this was Gataj Time After Time at Rahlissa for Val Tame who had recently won her 1st CC at Windsor. All four ladies were present in Mid Limit and were headed by Riverside Song Ice Cream Girl and Liz Patman. Lynmead Royal Beauty of Sambreeze arrived at the show with her breeder, Caz Waterhouse as her owner, Sheila Carlton was away on holiday and was handled by Caz to win this class and her KCSB No; Five of the 8 ladies entered were present for Jane’s assessment and coming out tops was Avonfair Secret Love Letter to Salsina for Jayne & Carl Llewellyn
Finding nothing to beat the effervescent Veteran lady, Telforth Sweet Dreams for Corisian Jo left the ring, in tears of joy,  with her 1st CC with Dreamy, who  already holds some 4 Reserve CC wins and it was a delighted Jo who contacted me with this news. Dreamy as we know her, is bred by Pauline Sibbald and has had some super Veteran In Show wins with Jo Brooker. Now aged just 12 years young she is sired by Ch Westoak War Lord out of Lynmead Amalie Lucy Locket at Telforth JW
Taking the RBCC was Jayne with her Open winner, Avonfair Secret Love Letter to Salsina, bred by Michelle Mitchell and family. Born in December 2021 and sired by Ch Magical Moon of Lowlands Green Valley for Chantique out of Salsina Secret Love Song for Avonfair. BPB was Chantique Away Wi The Fairies and Dreamy was obviously BVB.
As I can only assume, either both judges agreed on BOB, or, the designated BIS judge, Val Dyer (Javarm) made the decision but BOB fell to Dreamy, who was also BVIB. BPIB went to Gataj Time Will tell and Clovis won RBOB for Odile, who had experienced some issues earlier on in the day as her car, decided to “Self-Lock” and with the help of many, she did manage to get it opened and rescue one of her collies who was inside. A Nightmare scenario but soon resolved with the help of others, Thanks Odile for letting me know all the news.
The final BIS result went to the Smooth, Wynele Double Trouble at Foxearth for Trevor hayward,  RBIS and BVIS to Dreamy and BPIS to Melissa and Gataj  Time Will Tell. No award appears to be listed for RBPIS.
Finally, WECS have just issued the schedule for their next Open show and it would appear that this is planned for September 7th, which if memory serves me well is the same day as Yorkshire Collie Ch Show.
As is the case of owning and showing dogs, one day you have the most wonderful win and the following day brings you back to earth with a bump. Having just made up Ch Corydon Christopher, Miranda mailed me to say they have just lost Ch Corydon Ringleader – Here is her obit for Taz:
