Congratulations to Henry Leese who qualified along with his Rough, for the Junior Handling Association Finals held at the KC Building Stoneleigh last Saturday
Henry was in the 6-11-year section of this competition and was just 1 of 14 qualifiers. He can be seen at many shows in these classes, along with his mother Joanne Leese and their shaded sable boy, Essanjay Fields of Gold for Firesaga and although very smartly dressed and in tune with his charge progressed no further but must be congratulated.
The judge for this event was Luke Johnson who has a good history of both breeding and judging especially in Whippets, is Sec of North Eastern whippet Society and Asst show manager at the Hound Association show.
Now to Ayrshire Collie (twinned with All Ireland Collie & Sheepdog Society who donated BIS rosettes). This year in a new venue of the Fenwick Hotel, Kilmarnock who kindly allowed the event to take place, albeit with certain restrictions.
A relatively small entry awaited the judges of 57, comprising of 4 NFC leaving, present on the day, just 25 males with 4 absent and 23 bitches with 2 absent
The judges were Wendy Musty nee Hills who has the Buebezi affix and is based in West Glamorgan, although according to the KC is still in Berkshire and she officiated over the boys. Doreen Clarke (Lynway) had the ladies to sort out and by about 1.30pm, all was done and dusted without the need for the Referee who was Lesley Chalmers, Aintshe.
Thanks to those who posted many videos of the event and the challenge consisted of: Roughrigg Rags’n’Riches for Secretary Morag & handler, husband, Jim McCarte; Geosamka Loves to Love at Ithilien won PD for Sue Harris whose address was given as Cornwall so probably the furthest distance away from the venue. Junior went to Luis and Charlene with Paulara Blaze of Glory. With no entries in Yearling, maiden and Novice, the next class contender was Avonfair Aloysius JW and according to the catalogue was in sole ownership of Michelle Mitchell who won Graduate; PG went to Kourika Frosted Ice in the ownership of Nancy Houlihan and he is a blue merle; Limit went to Jo Hodges, for a change a fairly local show for her and she won with Jopium Love On The Rocks. Christine Collins made the journey up from South Wales with Rio, Ch Triburle Bluebolero and Veteran was a nice win for Culbrae Red Again and Lynda Watt.
Wendy’s choice for the CC was Jo Hodges and Jopium Love On The Rocks, this is his 2nd CC, the first was recently at National Working & Pastoral Breeds from Ali King. He is tricolour, homebred sired by Jopium Danny Boy at Lingwell out of Jopium Loves to Sparkle with Meryctin. Poignantly, the dam was owned by the previous Secretary, the late Joan McIntyre. Although 2nd in Limit was called in, Ladnar Dreamchaser and Sue Howard lost out to Christine and Rio for the RDCC. BPD went to Roughrigg Rags’n’Riches with VD being Culbrae Red Again.
Doreen Clarke last judged at London Collie this year and is one of our more established judges. From her entry, the class winners were: Culbrae Charmed Again and Lynda Watt, who also won Maiden. Thistlewing Gold Mist was alone in PB with Brenda Welsh; Junior saw Paulara Born To Be My Baby taking this for Charlene and Luis handling. Christine Collins with Triburle Leading Lady won Yearling. Although placed in previous classes, Timeless Destiny Star Actis Over Barrenclough in the ownership of Lynda Boyle won Graduate; Norma Larkin collected yet another PG win with Rahlissa Toffee Cake for Denora, she really has a good collection of these wins.  Limit went to another local exhibitor, Michelle Mitchell and her homebred Avonfair A Million Lovesong JW; Chantal Scott handled her and Andre’s Chantique Deja Vu to win Open whilst the ever sprightly Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian JW, although alone won VB for the Brooker family.
The CC,her first, to great applause went to Michelle and her sable, Avonfair A Million Lovesong JW, following on from her recent RCC win at Irish Collie, just to remind you she is sired by Ch Magical Moon of Lowlands Green Valley for Chantique out of Salsina Secret Love of Avonfair. Chantal added another RBCC to the collection for Chantique Déjà vu. BPB went to Culbrae Charmed Again and BVB to Jo Brooker and Dreamy.
Both judges agreed for BIS and this, along with many specials of dog food and pendants and all these were won by Michelle and her sable girl. RBIS and BOSIS was Jo Hodges and Jopium Love On The Rocks, with BPIS going to Roughrigg Rags’n’;Riches and BVIS to Jo Brooker and Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian JW.  With all complete just after lunch, exhibitors were able to leave, some with long travels home in daylight.

Prior to the ACC, over in Slovenia, the EDS show took place with streaming of many breeds including Roughs.  There was a good entry for judge Carin Akesson who had 99 entries, although I have no idea of absentees. The overall winner, was one who has made his mark on our breed, and took not only BOB, but also BVIB, it was Ch/Int Ch Extraordinary Blu di Cambiano, handled by Roberto and owned by Gianpaulo Falletto and bred by the one and only Maria Teresa Garabelli in Italy and also took BVIB at our recent Crufts. Piaf, as many know him was born in March 2014 and is currently the sire of quite a few Champions here in the UK and some of these, in turn, are also producing winners.
The latest BRS arrived and a quick glance shows that the 2nd quarter for registration figures shows an increase to 133. There were 127 New Registrations, which include 6 new Imports and a total of 23 Litters. However, close scrutiny shows 5 litters bred by one person with 4 in one month and the last in the following month with a total of 26 puppies !
Health results are also listed with Eyes, Hips scored and DNA Testing for both Eye Issues and MDR1 also listed.
Finally, concerning a nice win for Glasgowhills Mysterious and Magical, (who actually appears as a new import in the current BRS)  At Great Yarmouth Gorleston & District Open show, took BPIB and PPG3 for owner Mrs A Melonie. This news came from both Cathy Jessop and Pat Corben who actually handled on the day. The judge was Andrea Adshead for the breed and Gavin Parrish was the Group judge.
