The first Championship Show for 2024 resulted in a good entry for Kay Hateley (Mohnesee Shelties) and the first Ch for the breed.
Taking his 17th CC and BOB was the 2023 top winning male, Ch Samhaven Ballahanna Banjo, owned by Alison Grainger and I am sure by now you must all be aware of his details
In Reserve spot was Beldones Toucher du Bois for Brian and Odile and he was 2nd in the same Open class. He was a consistent winner last year, being sired by Honky Tonk Man of River Tweed out of Beldones Enable. Both his parents were also top sire and dam last year.
Other class winners included Avonfair Aloysius, who won 2 classes, Puppy and Junior and he is in the ownership of Mr & Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Jordan. Sophie Gelder won Post Grad with Libanel Erebus Eternal Love, whilst Melissa and Gataj Out of the Woods JW won Limit.  Alex Mill won Veteran with Lynmack Starman at Lemivee and Mr & Mrs Toogood won Special Beginners dog with Hanvale Ralph Lauren.
Now to the ladies, and giving Dave & Sue Randall a boost for 2024 was the first Ch of the year when Ladnar Inkspot (Dottie to her friends) won not only Limit but then won the CC thus making her up. Dottie is sired by Ch Beldones Blue Echo out of Ch Ladnar Inkheart who Dave & Sue lost last year. Her first CC came from Tracey Wilkinson at CA in 2021, then repeated the same win from Jayne Llewellyn in 2023
The reserve CC went to Erica, better known as Skabona If You Saw Me In Heaven for Chelborn, owned by Vanessa Cronk but bred in Sweden by Bo & Natalia Skalin and she won from Junior. Other class winners included, John Congdon and Aaronwell Able Mabel who won Puppy; Duna Jones and Josh Blackburn won Post Grad with Erjon Evolving Beauty and Hannah and Simon Walder handled their Ch Hanvale Polly Shelby to win Open whilst they then won Veteran with Ch Beldones La Vita Bella for Hanvale JW. Alex Mills won Spl Beginners with Hanvale Edina Monsoon.
The final results were BOB Ch Samhaven Ballahanna Banjo, Best Puppy In Breed, Aaronwell Able Mabel who stayed for their group which I understand was pre-judged making it a longer day for these youngsters and although put up a good performance, did not feature but behaved well. Best Veteran, Ch Beldones La Vita Bella for Hanvale JW and Best Special Beginner Hanvale Ralph Lauren.
