Smooth Collies
Judge Mrs Eleanor Kitchen
To judge at Crufts is indeed a great honour and a privilege, and I thank the Committee for the invite. My thanks also to my two very professional stewards who kept the ring running smoothly throughout.
I was very pleased with my entry, and found that they were all presented in very clean and hard condition. With the ‘Smooth’, what you see is what you get. My thanks to the exhibitors for the sportsmanship way they accepted my decisions.
Veteran Dog
1st Trundley – Ch Blamorder Back To The Future. Upstanding blue of good colour, well marked, and well presented. Head of good pattern with lovely moulding, kind expression, neat ears, good reach of neck, body and ample bone, and moved soundly with his young handler, enjoying his day out.
Puppy Dog
1st Seager – Blamorder Scale Force – Twelve month old tri colour, full of himself, as one can be at that age, he is balanced all over, with ample bone, head handled well, with a lovely dark eye, neat ears, nicely filled in foreface, giving him the desired expression. His jet black coat was beautifully presented, just needs that little bit of firm handling and schooling.
Junior Dog
1st Lusty – Blamorder Audacity – A very smart looking tri colour in a jet black harsh coat, put down to the nines. Well balanced all over, in good body, and a lovely neck, good angles, front and rear, which helped him to cover the ground with ease. Head is balanced, nicely moulded, good eye, and neat ears, which he used continuously, just needs time now to mature.
2nd Cowling and Lusty – Blamorder Opulence at Himinnsaga – Litter brother to 1st, but just a bit finer all over. A blue of lovely colour, and was well presented and moved soundly enough. At the moment he is a bit of a handful, needs more time.
Post Graduate Dog
1st Corben – Stormsett Shadow Dancer via Caprioara – Upstanding tri colour, presented in a good harsh coat, good length of body, reach of neck, head is ok, but would prefer a better eye. Ears on top, ample bone, and I would have liked tighter feet, although he covered the ground well on the move.
Limit Dog
1st Martin and Howard – Shandlmain Blu Chief – Another upstanding blue of lovely colour, and was beautifully presented, his whites gleamed. Head handled well, nicely filled in foreface, with a lovely eye which gave him the desired expression. To be critical, I would have liked tighter ear carriage to complete the picture. Balanced all over, with a good front, and nicely let down at the rear. Ample bone, neat feet enabled him to move with purpose and drive. His day will come.
2nd Griffiths – Shulune Imperial Galaxy – This time, a lovely shaded sable, who was unlucky to come up against ‘Blu Chief’, everything in proportion, and balanced, but would have liked a shade more of him, lovely head, eye and expression, ample bone, and quarters, neat feet enabled him to move soundly.
Open Dog
My note say what a lovely class headed by
1st Naulls – Ch Wynele Indian Ink – Well, I was blown away by this smart, well presented youngster, he never put a foot wrong and commanded the ring. Balanced all over with a lovely head piece, on a good neck and shoulders. Lovely expression for a male, neat ears, which he knew how to use, never took his eyes off his handler for a minute, and set himself up beautifully, coat of a good harsh texture and presented in lovely hard condition. Lovely front and quarters, neat feet, and ample bone, and for me, the icing on the cake, was to watch him move effortlessly around the ring, covering the ground with such ease. The best is yet to come from this lovely smooth. CC/BOB, which I was privileged to award him. Thank you for bringing him.
2nd French – Ch Breckamore By Design – A most gorgeous coloured blue, which I have done well for in the past, and I was most pleased to see him here today, but, unfortunately, he had left his sparkle at home. I still think he is a lovely boy, and is now entering veteran, and my opinion of him is still the same. I simply could not resist giving him the RCC.
3rd Smith – Ch/Multi Ch/Winter Is Coming To Tentola – Another lovely upstanding blue, who was unlucky today, this was a lovely class, and no shame to stand 3rd. These males well deserve their Ch status.
Veteran Bitch
A lovely class of quality ladies, who very much belied their age, headed by one of my favourite all time Smooths, and how pleased I was to see this top winning Smooth bitch, who is now coming up to eleven years, and looks no different to when I awarded her a CC, many years ago, she was presented in top top condition, and never put a foot wrong. Stood and showed her heart out and has hardly aged, an epitome of a ‘Smooth Collie’, there is nothing that I can add to the many great words that have been said about this great bitch. I had no hesitation in awarding her the CC, but had to give way to youth for BOB who just happened to have been her grandson. Thank you for bringing her – Ch Clingstones Hot Shot at Foxearth, owned by Mr and Mrs Hayward.
2nd Forbes – Willowhurst Vanity – Eight years tri bitch, in good hard condition, head is still refined, with a lovely expression, good neck, shoulders, length of back, ample bone, neat feet, and she moved soundly.
3rd Lanikova – Cz Ch/sk Ch/pl Ch/grand Ch Chyť Si Mě Leneli
Puppy Bitch
1st Forbes - Zellamere Zsarina from Willowhurst – Ten month old tri bitch, very much enjoying her day out, just so full of herself. She is of a lovely make and shape, with lovely neck, shoulders and length of back, just needing to tighten up a bit on the move, but this will come, head is nicely balanced, and refined, with a lovely eye and neat ears, sweet expression. Junior Bitch
1st Davies and Brown – Breckamore Blessings at Wystry – Another lovely tri bitch, with a lovely head piece, and the sweetest expression, from two almond shaped dark eyes, neat ears, perfectly balanced all over, with a good quarters, long tail, ample bone, neat fee enabled her to move effortlessly.
2nd Austin – Tersurami All My Loving – A classically marked shaded sable with a lovely ring presence she stood and showed her heat out. She possessed a refined head piece, enough stop, lovely dark eye, neat ears, giving her a melting expression. Nice make and shape and balanced, good front, and rear, ample bone neat feet, enabled her to move soundly, my only criticism is that I would like a bit more of her.
3rd Forbes – Zellamere Zsarina from Willowhurst
Post Graduate Bitch
1st Austin – Tersuarni All My Loving
2nd Huchon – Texforrier Because I’m Me – Classically marked tri, who was a beautiful mover, lovely make, shape and good reach of neck, shoulders, length of back, well let down at the back, with a good front. Head handled well with the sweetest expression, well presented.
3rd Peacock – Saraneth Edge Dancer
Limit Bitch
1st Sweeney and Lusty – Blamorder Do Quite Nicely – Nicely made blue bitch, who’s colour could be better, again balanced, presented in good hard condition, coat of good texture, and a lovely head piece, good on the move.
2nd Lusty – Blamorder Poco Lobo – This time a lovely sable, but would have preferred a little more substance to her, presented in good harsh coat, head handled well, with a sweet expression.
3rd Lusty – Blamorder Fancy Patter
Open Bitch – A lovely class of some quality mature bitches, which could change places at any other time.
1st French – Ch Wynele Alice Blue Gown with Breckamore – A beautiful, very glamorous blue bitch, who commanded attention. So attentive to her handler, and a born showgirl, her head is refined with a lovely soft expression, swan like neck on good shoulders, leading on to a good length of back, good front, and well let down at the rear, lovely make and shape, ample bone, neat feet, and an art in presentation, every hair gleamed. Really powered around the ring, and well deserved the class and the RCC.
2nd Flower – Ch Breckamore Butterfingers Ch.CM, ShCx, - Another lovely tri bitch, looking the picture of health. So attentive to her handler, showing her heart out on a loose lead. Presented in a good harsh coat, well presented, balanced all over, with lovely quarters, ample bone, neat feet, her head is refined, not a bit of coarseness, with the sweetest expression. Another who is so sound on the move, unlucky to come up against Butterfingers.
3rd Pletz-Kazantzis & Busby – Ch Fosearth Fandella – completed a trio of lovely bitches, not a bit surprised that they are all champions. Some comments as Butterfingers apply to this lovely bitch also.
Good Citizens Bitch
1st Flower – Ch Breckamore Butterfingers Ch.CM, ShCx
2nd Peacock – Saraneth Edge Dancer – Tri Bitch, who was third in PG. Good make and shape presented in good hard condition, head handled well giving a sweet expression, but ears a bit on the light side, moved well.
BOB Naulls – Ch Wynele Indian Ink
BP – Forbes Zellamere Zsaraina from Willowhurst
BV – Ch Clingstones Hot Shot at Foxearth
