COLLIE CLUB OF WALES CHAMP SHOW 19TH AUGUST 2022 – DOGS
My sincere thanks to Collie Club of Wales for the invitation to Judge at the Champ Show. There was, indeed, a welcome in the Valleys. To my Stewards – Marina and Margaret - a big thank you for their help and appreciation for the smooth running of the Ring. The hospitality from Christine and Crew was excellent and the Show was very well run and there was a friendly atmosphere around the Ring. On this occasion, our breed had the Hall to themselves which made for a much better environment for the dogs and rings were a great size.
I made allowances on coat due to the recent hot spell.
Many thanks to the Exhibitors for their entry and attendance on a working week-day.

1. Llewellyn’s, Avonfair Spellbound With Salsina (NAF TAF) – 8 ½ month old s/w. Upstanding masculine youngster of good size and great promise. Proper Showman, using his correctly placed ears constantly. Head of good length and clean even at this young age. Good stop and correct eye placement with a dark eye giving a soft yet masculine expression. His reach of neck showing off his lovely profile, good length of tail and tight feet. Beautifully presented. Wee bit in awe of the surroundings – first show maybe? Moved okay. BPD – BPIB and BPIS Congratulations
2. Cronk’s, Chelborn Gambling List – Almost 7 months jet black tri with rich tan markings. Another promising masculine youngster, good to see this in the breed. Correct dark eye, good ear carriage which he used to advantage. Good stop and length of head. Attentive to handler. Beautifully turned out. Moved okay. These two puppies were similar in many areas and I’m sure will change places throughout their career.
3. Tipper’s, Amalunaque Arcturis Wind At Tiganlea -

Both dogs here were unsettled – have put that down to that ‘Juvenille’ stage in their development.
1. Blaikie’s, Kourika You’ll Do For Me – 13 month old masculine jet black tri with rich tan markings. Well off for size. Good ear carriage, dark eye and length of head. Pleasing expression. Has a lovely outline and moved well enough to win this class. Well presented.
2. Brooker’s, Corisian Parisian Moon – 16 month old s/w. Lovely dark eye and well placed ears, clean in head, just not giving of his best today and hard work for his handler. In good coat which was beautifully presented. Did not move as well as 1st today.

1. Turner’s, Chantique Magical Mystery – Masculine well-sized shaded sable dog. Clean in head and soft correct dark eye giving dreamy expression. I would just like less ear over and tighter carriage. Good bend of stifle, Tight feet and well let down hocks. Good bone to him and well bodied. Lovely in profile. Stood four square. Excellent presentation. Moved with ease and drive which allowed him to take RDCC Congratulations.
2. Boyle’s, Barrenclough Heart Of Gold JW – S/s. Pleasing head, would like more reach of neck and length of back. Moved okay.

1. Telford’s, Brilyn Born To Run For Glenbowdene – S/w. Lot to like about this lad. Well balanced head with correct dark eye and great ear carriage, which he was happy to use. Moulded foreface. Well balanced throughout. Moved well. In good coat which was well presented.
2. Edwards’. Starlenga Harry Potter With Elshajo – S/w. Another with lovely head and pleasing expression. Dark eye. Ears a bit erratic today which spoiled his expression for me. He is a well-sized dog and good for bone. Moved okay.
3. Turner’s, Paulara No Where Man
OD (10,3, 1 WD)
1.Blaikie’s, Kourika King Pin – B/m of correct colour. He has an elegance about him and although not in full coat today, what he is carrying was fresh and showed off his virtues. He has correct ear carriage and used them non-stop. Clean in head, well placed stop, good foreface, correct dark eye. Well balanced head which altogether really does give him that dreamy masculine expression. There is no coarseness to his head qualities whatsoever. His length to height ratio was good, if I were to be over-critical, I would just like a tad more body on him. Good angulation and shoulder placement. Lovely bend of stifle. Well let down hocks. Standing four square. Excellent presentation. Moved with drive and effortlessly around the Ring to take DCC. Congratulations.
2. Cronk’s, Chelborn Story Teller – Masculine jet black tri. Slightly stronger in head than 1. However, well moulded foreface, with well placed stop and dark eye, and he had balance throughout. Well bodied and in excellent condition. In good coat which was expertly presented. Also considered for Res CC, losing out on movement.
3. Congdon’s, CH/FR CH Jugband Blues Du Clos De Seawind Via Aaronwell (IMP FRA)

1. Patman’s, Pick Pocket Via Samhaven – Almost 8 ½ year old handsome s/w. This lad had a good head and eye with a lovely soft expression. Used his ears to advantage. Lovely shape and outline and moved with ease. Well presented.
2. Boyle’s, Barrenclough Moon Glow JW ShCM – 9 ½ year old s/w. Pleasing head and eye. Lovely shape and good reach of neck. Good ear carriage and moved okay.
BVD- from 3rd in OD – Congdon’s, CH/FR CH Jugband Blues Du Clos De Seawind Via Aaronwell (IMP FRA) - Have Judged this flashy b/m before and awarded him Res CC at that time. He is indeed a worthy Champion. Today, and approaching his 8th birthday, he came from 3rd in OD and overall still maintains his qualities. He is of the most beautiful colour and a super mover. Excellent presentation. Happy to award him BVD then going on to BVIS. Well Done. Congratulations.
