Ayrshire Collie Open Club Show (May 2022)
Many thanks to the Ayrshire Collie Committee for the invitation to judge the Special Award Classes at their May 2022 Open show. Thank you for a fabulous day, with thanks to my ring steward Ella, who kept everything running smoothly. Many thanks to exhibitors for their entries, all were presented to a high standard. It was a pleasure to judge your dogs.
Special Junior Dog/Bitch 2 (1)
1st Melvin & Jopson’s Lilyway Lemon Sparkle At Nithview 12 months old golden s/w bitch of lovely type. Lovely wedge head with flat skull, obliquely set dark almond shaped eye and well set ears, which she used well and together gave a lovely expression. Well constructed with a good reach of neck and shoulder angulation. Lovely bone, good top line, good hind quarter. Moved and showed well for her handler. In good coat, beautifully presented as always from this kennel. One to watch in the future.
Special Graduate Dog/Bitch 3 (0)
1st Kerr’s Nithview Castle Black At Lynlou 2 year old tri colour bitch, who had a lovely shaped head, dark almond eye, ears bang on top, which she used well, overall giving a pleasing expression. She is nicely constructed, with good bone, good reach of neck in to well laid shoulders. Held a good top line on the move. Good stifle and short hocks. In good coat, well presented.
2nd Carmichael’s Kilchrenan Zena’s Design 6 year old tri colour bitch, who has a clean wedge head with a dark almond eye, good ear carriage which she used well. Good shoulder angulation, nice top line and good turn of stifle. Showed well, although she was not so happy on the move today. In good coat.

1st Carmichael’s Kilchrenan Keltic Brier JW, 7years old tri colour dog. I have judged this male before, he is a well constructed male who has the correct length of head, well placed stop. He has dark almond shaped eye, with correct ear placement, which he used at all times, giving an overall intelligent expression. Good reach of neck set into well laid shoulders, deep chest with good spring of ribs. Good top line which was held on the move, good bend of stifle with short hocks, moved with drive and purpose. Beautifully presented.
2nd Jopson & Brown’s Lilyway Lattimer At Nithview 5 years old tri colour dog, I have judged this boy before, slightly smaller build than the first. He has a nice wedge head with a dark obliquely set almond eye which gives a pleasing expression. Ears set correctly, nicely constructed, good bone, good lay of shoulders, nice top line and good turn of stifle. Moved well. In lovely coat as before from this kennel beautifully presented. Could change places with 1st on another day.
