East Anglian Collie Association Championship Show 18th April 2021
Huge congratulations are due to the committee of EACA for the organisation of a wonderful double show under some testing conditions and also to the competitors for following the rules to make the day a roaring success. I was very impressed that, after so long without shows and socialisation, only a couple of the youngsters were spooked by it all, well done everyone.
Rough Collie Bitches.
Veteran (9,3) 1. Flower’s Serenlas Obsession. This glamorous 7 yr old s/s/w is exactly what I look for in a bitch. Perfectly balanced, clean wedge head with a sweet expression enhanced by her neat, responsive ears. Elegant crested neck leading to a good length of back, well ribbed and possessing a thick fitted coat with correct furnishings. Excellent angulation front and rear which shows in her free and easy stride. Super outgoing temperament, appearing absolutely fit for function. BCC, BVIB, BVIS, RBIS, BOSIS. Congratulations. 2. Whitaker’s Aniesh Misty Blue Moon of Siluto. 7 yr old beautifully coloured b/m. Clean head and nice expression. Nicely turned stifle and well boned. Just a little short in back, however she moved with drive. 3. Collino’s Imaginist Waxing Lyrical.
Minor Puppy (6,0) 1. Jones’ Erjon Evening Mist. Nothing babyish about this 7 and a half month b/m, she moved very steadily for her age. Well broken, clear blue and harsh coat. Although a shorter type head, it is already clean through and she has a very sweet expression and neat, well used ears. Excellent angulation and well off for bone, I look forward to seeing her develop. BPB. 2. Clark’s Starlenga Madam Cyn at Derbypark. 8 and a half month old, very attractive, absolutely black tri. Good length of back and correct angulation. Head handles well, clean through and excellent dentition. Moves with drive although she needs a bit more training! 3.Tipper’s Tiganlea True Star Shine.
Puppy (3,0) 1. Welsh’s Thistlewing Spell On You. Very nicely balanced s/w of 10 months. Another lovely puppy, clean wedge head, and sweet, dark almond shaped eyes. Nicely arched neck and super front and chest. Well turned stifle and tidy feet. Moved well in her class, however just not as positive on the move as the MP in the challenge. 2. Blake’s Corydon Clarissa. This 10 mth old s/w moved well and has a nice outline although I would prefer a little more length in the body. Unfortunately she was very unhappy at being handled. 3. Bartram’s Ambartr Winds Of Change.
Junior (7,0) 1. Tipper’s Revdvicki Ruby Tuesday at Tiganlea. Flashy 12 mth old s/w in full coat, with a very sweet eye and a super flat backskull. Well angulated, she moved steadily with excellent tail carriage. 2. Wray-Ramsden Takhisis Lady Of Illusions. This 12 mth old s/w has a nicely rounded muzzle and lovely almond eye shape. She has a good length of back and a nice rise over the loin. Although she moved well I would prefer a better angle on her upper arm. 3. Kelly’s Abannste Opal Kisses.
Novice (6,0) 1. Flower’s Serenlas Pagans Moon. Nearly 2 year old daughter of the BCC and many of the same points apply although she doesn’t yet have the bloom of maturity. Nicely balanced all through, moved with ease holding her topline level. Well off for bone, neat oval feet. Would prefer a darker eye. 2. Geddes’ Ingledene Sno Angel. 7 mth b/m still very much a baby, clear in colour and she moves steadily for her age. However her head still needs to break in stop and I would prefer more angulation in the front 3. Spendelow’s Uffspring Unstoppable.
Yearling (8,2) 1. Flower’s Serenlas Pagan Moon. 2. Burrows’ Revdvicki Ramblin Rose. 12 mth old s/w whose head handles very well, sweet expression, shame her ears are a little low. Her angles are correct both ends and she has a great length of back. Movement good on the front but the rear still needs to tighten. 3. Quince’s Thistlewing Celtic Soul for Karafaye.
Post Graduate (3,1) 1. Farthing’s Aldreen Illusion In Blue For Didek. I particularly liked this blues lean, clean head pattern, expression and ear carriage. Adequate angulation and length all through, moved ok. 2. Arrowsmith’s Saganan Dancing In The Dark. This 3 year old tri is a beautiful jet black and has reasonable angulation both ends. Carrying too much weight which affected her movement and I would prefer a darker eye.
Mid Limit (7,3) 1. Edwards’ Top Less Goldmania (Imp). This very feminine s/w really impressed me. Beautiful, lean headpiece with neat ears, leading to a lovely crest, good shoulders, and a long ribcage. Good rise over the loin and correct stifle. She moved easily, however she lacked the extra sparkle or attitude that the main winners possessed. I am sure her day will come. 2. Tipper’s Tiganlea Twinkling Star. This b/m has a beautifully broken colour, a shorter but clean head pattern and was presented to perfection. Carrying too much weight today which impacted her movement. 3. Whitaker’s Siluto Over The Blue Moon.
Limit (11,2) 1. Randall’s Ladnar Inkheart JW. Stunning, really black tri. Perfectly balanced, very feminine but with substance too. Head of a good length, with a spot on stop and neat well used ears. Well off for bone, nice tight feet and correct angles each end. Moved out with drive and ease. Pleased to award her the RBCC. 2. Lockyer’s Takhisis Hope and Dreams With Gataj. This s/w is in beautiful coat and appealed for her balance. Cleanest of heads, sweet expression and well boned. Floated round the ring today. 3. Walder’s Hanvale Polly Shelby.
Open (10,1) 1. Jones’ Erjon Exclusively Special. Super b/m in lovely harsh coat. Sweetest of expressions, arched neck and tight oval feet. Particularly good in angulation with well let down hocks, powerful on the move. 2. Welsh’s Thistlewing Harp String. Pretty s/w coming into lovely coat, I liked her clean, smooth head. Very responsive to her handler she moved with ease. 3. Beaden’s Myriehewe Promises.
Champion (2,0) 1. Geddes’ Ch Ingledene Sprit of Ecstacy. This very worthy champion tri impressed in head, lean with correct almond eye shape and neat well used ears. Good length of back, strong bone and lovely long tail. Moved with drive. 2. Burrows’ Ch Tiganlea Tinkerbell at Revdvicki. Well presented, smaller type s/w. Very sweet in expression and excellent angulation. Another who was carrying too much weight today which affected her movement.
Smooth Collies
Veteran Dog or Bitch (2,0) 1. Russell’s Ch Manordeifi Satin Doll of Koczkodan. B. This 11 and a half year old tri can still show the youngsters a thing or two. Head handles cleanly, very sweet expression with neat ear carriage. Nicely balanced with a good length of back and she is still well muscled. Strides out steadily on the move . Pleased to award her BB, BOB and BVIB. 2. Benton’s Ch Alopex Marionette Of Oakestelle. B. Feminine b/m with the sweetest of expressions and responsive ears. Only just starting to show her age now she is 12, she was not as positive on the move as 1.
Junior Dog or Bitch (6,1) 1. Naulls’ Wynele Cover Girl. B. Very promising 8 mth s/w. She is well balanced and in excellent muscle for her age meaning she moved very well. Clean head pattern, with expressive ears. Super bone and tight feet. Ended up BMPIS, well done! 2. Howard’s Brackenhaye Heartbreaker At Shandlmain. B. 13 mth tri of a good size. Correct angles fore and aft, she is well boned and has a good length of rib. Lovely flat backskull and well used ears, however I would prefer a darker eye. Moved reasonably well. 3. Benton’s Brackenhaye Queen Of Hearts Of Oakestelle. B.
Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (4,2) 1. Martin & Howard’s Shandlmain Blu Chief. D. 2 yr old b/m in lovely hard condition. Very masculine with a strong, but clean head, super ear carriage and soft expression. Nicely arched neck leading to a strong body and perfect angulation. Moves well. BD. 2. Naulls’ Wynele Blu Alice. B. Appealing, ultra feminine b/m of 14 mths. Clean head, sweet eye and neat ears. Needs to strengthen up all round.
Limit Dog or Bitch (1,0) 1. Howard’s Jack Mack’s Va Buidhinn of Shandlmain (Imp). D. Upstanding 2 and a half yr old tri in hard condition. He is clean through the cheeks, has a flat backskull and dark almond eyes. Correct turn of stifle and lovely long tail, nice lay of shoulder although I would prefer more angulation in the upper arm. Moved well when he settled.
Open Dog (3,0) 1. Wood’s Oakestelle Vivaldi. Tri with a very clean head, sweet and excellent expression. Well muscled in the rear, he kept his topline on the move. I would however like to see more chest and more angulation in the upper arm. RBD. 2. Naulls’ Wynele Indian Ink. Although nearly 2, this balanced tri was more of a teenager. Clean head and flat backskull, but ears are too low. I liked his length of neck and back, but he needs to settle on the move. 3. Bell & Cowling’s Koczkodan Nostromo.
Open Bitch (2,0) 1. Benton’s Oakestelle Venus De Milo. Sister to the RBD, she has a similar clean, lean head. Very feminine, correct angulation and good bone for her size. Harsh, well broken b/m jacket, she covered the ground with ease. RBB. 2. Naulls’ Wynele Couldn’t Could She. S/w sister to 2nd in OD, she is also still a little immature. Nice length of neck and back, reasonable angulation and nice tight feet. She also needs to settle on the move.
