East Anglian Collie Association Championship Show - 1st August 2021
SMOOTH COLLIES
First, my thanks to EACA for their invitation to judge Smooth Collies at this Show. I had a lovely entry of Smooths from which to select my winners and thank the exhibitors for their gracious acceptance of my choices. All the exhibits were well presented.
Veteran Dog or Bitch (3, 1)
- Oakestelle Venue De Milo
8 year old blue merle bitch who oozes quality. She has a well moulded head with a good flat skull and excellent proportions of skull to foreface. Well set ears and a sweet eye, giving a lovely expression. Good length of neck and body, well laid back, sloping shoulder and strong hindquarters. Level back, firm with a slight rise over the loins. Moved very well and totally attentive to her handler. (BV)
2. Willowhurst Vanity
Attractive 7 year old tricolour bitch. Pretty head, correct ratio of back skull to fore face, nice eye but just preferred expression of my winner. Good length of neck and body. A little more upright in angulation than class winner but still showed and moved very well.
Junior Dog or Bitch (4,1)
1. Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts Of Oakestelle
17 month old tricolour bitch in beautiful condition. Balanced, wedge shaped head, intelligent expression, well placed ears which she used non stop. Good length of neck, level top line and well angulated throughout. Moved exceptionally well. (BB) (RBoB)
2. Shandlmain’s Sofistikate
Pretty 9 month old tricolour bitch puppy who handled very well. Another well balanced head. Sweet eye and expression. Well constructed with good angulation Moved out very well. Lost out on maturity to the winner of this class. (BP)
Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (3)
- Brackenhaye Heartbreaker At Shandlmain
Elegant 17 month old tricolour bitch, lovely clean wedge shaped head, nice ears, good eye placement, all contributing to her lovely intelligent expression. Good length of neck and body, correct front and strong hindquarters. Well angulated front and rear. Level top line. Very alert to handler. Moved out well with a lovely smooth action.
2. Stormsett Snow Crystal
3 year old blue merle bitch. A little strong in head, neat and correctly set ears, kind expression.
Level top line. Good depth of chest and strong hindquarters. Moved well with a good length of stride.
Limit Dog or Bitch (2, 1)
- Jack Mack’s Va Buidhinn of Shandlmain (Imp) Deu Upstanding tricolour dog with a well moulded head, good ear carriage and well set, kind eye. Good sloping shoulder and correct front. Good bone. Well angulated front and rear. Good length of body. Moved well.

1. Gib Ch Esp Ch Port Winter is Coming to Tentola
Lovely masculine blue dog with a clean, wedge shaped head exhibiting correct balance of skull to fore face, well set ears, correctly placed eyes giving an intelligent, alert expression and a strong under-jaw. Good dentition. Nice long neck, well laid back, sloping shoulder, deep chest and an excellent front. Good bone. Strong headquarters. Well angulated throughout. Gave the impression of being able to work all day. Moved very well, covering the ground. (BD, BOB).
Open Bitch (2,1)
1. Natalain Kilkenny At Willowhurst (Imp Rus)
Sable bitch with a pretty, feminine head but was reluctant to use her ears today and show to her best advantage. Slightly shorter in neck than I would prefer although her overall shape is nice.
Moved out very well for her young handler.
