WELSH KENNEL CLUB CHAMP SHOW  17TH AUGUST 2019

I would like to thank the Committee of WKC for inviting me to Judge our breed at their 2019 Ch Show and for their hospitality.  Thanks to Sue and Rebecca, my stewards, for their able assistance throughout.

My first time giving C.C.s and after some horrendous weather the day before, I was thankful that on the day the sun shone on the proceedings.  Thanks should also go to the exhibitors for their quality entry.

Presentation in the main was excellent.  Only a couple were dirty and not groomed to show standard.  Teeth, however, do need addressing.  There are so many products out there today to help with this.  It should be part of the grooming routine.

When it came to the bitch line-up, I was pleased that my winners from GB on were all in different Classes, so none of them went cardless. They oozed quality and top Honours could have gone to any one of them. 

When it came to the Challenge for BOB,  I was faced with an all masculine dog and the most feminine of bitches.  Both worthy of their C.C.s today with the bitch just pulling out all the stops to take B.O.B.

VETERAN DOG (1,0)
1. Skinner's, Nikal It's Gud To Be Black - Tri dog of 8 + years. In good condition with pleasing outline.  Head handled well and he had a most alert expression.  Moved around the ring with ease.  Well presented. 

MINOR PUPPY DOG (5,0)
1. Hawkins, Brilyn Born For Glory - G/S, just over 6 months old and still developing.  At one with handler. Dark eye, well set neat ears which he used giving a lovely expression. Head overall handled well.  Liked the shape of this youngster. Needs to tighten up on the move. Good length of tail. Presentation excellent.  Potential is there, will watch with interest.  BPD, BPIB

2. Lockyer, Perfect Timing Du Clos De Sea-wind for Gataj - S/W. Another youngster, of good size and shape. Neat well used ears.  Preferred expression of 1 in this Class. Moved okay for a youngster. Beautifully presented.

1. Wray-Ramsden, Takhisis Magic Of Dreams -Tri of good size. Coat of jet black colour and condition.  Lovely head planes and eye placement, good reach of neck, Moved okay, fond of his tail on the move today. Beautifully presented.

2. Congdon, Aaronwell Ashley Banjo - B/M - who blew his chances as he was most unsettled, standing and on the move here.  Great silver blue broken up colour, Good size to him and reach of neck.  Unable to see his expression properly as not happy today.  Presentation excellent. Would like to see him again when more mature and settled.

1. Shipp, No More Heroes Du Clos De Sea-wind JW  -G/S, loved his expression, well placed dark eye , used ears well. good shape and make with lovely reach of neck and shoulder placement.  Though would prefer more of him all round. Lovely mover. Excellent presentation.

2. Edwards, Starlenga Harry Potter - G/S, another one with a lovely expression from neat ears, dark eye. In-between coats.  Moved okay.  Well presented.

POST GRADUATE DOG (3,0)
1. Lockyer, Think of Me Prince of Sunlight At Gataj JW - S/W, Clean in head, good dark eye, used ears well, lovely reach of neck and shoulder placement.  Loved his topline, Moved okay. 

2. Webb, Rashel Time Is Of  The Essence At Shadowpark- B/m, Dark eye, pleasing expression, would have liked tighter ears.  Not paying attention to handler.  Moved okay, fond of his tale on move.

LIMIT DOG (7,1)
1. Johnston, Sea Dreamer's One and Only - Upstanding 4 year old S/W. Clean head, lovely eye and expression.  Well placed neat ears which were well used. Would have preferred a fuller foreface. Full white collar.  Good reach of neck and topline.  Moved okay.  Well presented.   

2. Wray-Ramsden, Takhisis Dream Weaver - 1st and 2nd could easily have changed places. Masculine S/W dog with super dark eye which was well placed and good ears which he used to advantage. Well bodied and good spring of rib. Moved okay.  Beautiful presentation

OPEN DOG (6,1)
1. Foy & Hawkins, Beldones Tom Wood – (Both 1st and 2nd in this Class were masculine males of good size).  Clean balanced head with good parallel planes and correct stop.  Dark eye, giving a smashing alert masculine expression.  Good ear placement and carriage, which he knew how to use.    Masculine in outline with full white collar, super reach of neck and shoulder placement with length to height ratio being correct.  Good spring of rib, well bodied and deep chested with plenty of heart room. Great topline.  Good turn of stifle with well let down hocks.  Lovely length of tail.  Well toned.  Moved with drive both coming and going.   In good coat and condition which was presented to a tee. 
Happy to award a well deserved C.C.
Discovered later that this was his 3rd and crowning CC. (subject to KC confirmation).

2. Congdon, Ch. Jugband Blues Du Clos De Sea-wind Via Aaronwell - Well marked beautifully coloured B/M with correct harsh coat.  Clean in head and balanced throughout.  Well filled foreface.  Correct stop and eye giving dreamy but masculine expression. Not a showing fool and ear placement was good when used. Impressive full white collar, good reach of neck and shoulder angulation, lovely topline and balanced outline.  Covered the ground with ease. Immaculate presentation.
A worthy Champion but Tom Wood was hungrier today. RES C.C.

1. Williams, Essanjay Fire and Ice - Raw B/M baby.  Lovely colour, pleasing head and eye.  Nice shape, enjoying her day out.  Needs more schooling.  Needs to settle standing and on the move. Well presented.

PUPPY BITCH (4,1)
1. Tipper, Tiganlea Twinkling Star - B/M of good colour.  Nice make and shape.  Lovely sweet expression with dark eye.  Clean in head. Used ears well when required.  Appealing profile. Moved well for handler though at times unsettled when freestanding.  Beautifully presented. BPB

2. McCormick/Williams, Francy in Black Della Verde Scozia at Lynmack - Jet black tri in good coat and excellent length of tail.  Different head type to 1.  Head needs to clean off and settle.  Used ears well with good reach of neck. Lovely shape to her. Moved okay.  Beautifully presented.   

3. Barron & Jenkins, Tiganlea Twinkling Saphire at Rannaleroch

JUNIOR BITCH (3,0)
1. Tame, Oh Suzannah Du Clos De Seawind At Rahlissa - Very feminine G/S. Super dark eye, well placed stop, clean headed.  In-between coats but what she had was immaculately groomed and presented showing off her attributes. Elegant reach of neck. Good shoulder placement.  Nice topline.  Attentive to handler and moved with drive around the ring. 

2. Collins. Salsina Share The Passion With Triburle - G/S. Proper little showgirl. Similar in type to 1. Lovely make and shape. Well placed dark eye.   Head was lovely to handle.  Correct ears used to advantage. Balanced throughout.  Excellent presentation. Good length of tail.  Sound mover going around the ring with ease, with the edge on 1 on movement, but coat left at home today. Love to see her in full bloom.

GRADUATE BITCH (4,0)
1. Walder, Hanvale Polly Shelby - Very glamorous S/W oozing quality. Clean head with well placed stop, flat skull.  Lovely dark eyes giving a sweet expression with ears bang on top and using continuously.  Full white collar with good reach of neck onto well laid shoulder.  Great topline and nice sweep over loin.  Well toned, good bend of stifle and neat hocks.  Moved with ease front & back.  Immaculate presentation.

2. Lockyer, Nasty Girl Du Clos De Sea Wind At Gataj - S/W. Another gorgeous girl and wasn't disappointed on going over her.  Clean in head and a tad stronger than 1 but not detracting from her dark eye, well placed stop and lovely expression.   Used ears well.  Lovely shape and outline with a good reach of neck.  Good length of tail.  Covered the ground with purpose. Coat in good condition which was beautifully presented. 

3. Milligan, Ladnar Trust In Me For Alfsden

POST GRADUATE BITCH (5,1)
1. Shipp, Gillyflower Della Buca Delle Fate - S/W. Again a quality bitch who had a soft dreamy expression from correct stop and head planes, dark almond-shaped eye.  Good ear carriage and super reach of neck and topline.  Good front and back angulation.  Well bodied with lovely spring of rib.  Lovely length of tail.  Moved with drive. Immaculately presented. 

2. Mills, Lynmack Sweet Amber - A very feminine girl with a soft expression who was most attentive to her young handler.  Tad finer in head than 1 but did not detract from her quality.  Well set ears.  Not in full coat today but this only showed off her lovely outline.  Moved well.  Presentation good.

LIMIT BITCH (10,4)
1. McGill & Boyd, Lynmack Edge of Glory At Stregato -  S/W. This bitch oozes charisma and quality and demands your attention. It was a pleasure to go over her.  She presented a stunning profile, which was so much easier to see, as she was not in full coat today, but what she had was fresh and immaculately turned out.  She was balanced throughout from length to height ratio.  Head correct, viewed from both top and side, which handled well. Well placed stop, mesmerising dark eye leading to that soft dreamy expression.  Smooth rounded muzzle and good underjaw.  She had a full white collar, great arch and length of neck into good lay of shoulder and good front depth to her chest.  Lovely spring of rib. Level topline both standing and on the move.  Hindquarters were well toned.  She was asked to move and flowed effortlessly around the Ring.  All culminating in C.C & B.O.B.

2. Lockyer, Takhisis Hope And Dreams With Gataj - G/S.  Yet another quality bitch with a sweet expression from well placed dark eye, stop and correct ears which she knew how to use. Lovely reach of neck and overall conformation.  Moved really well with drive.  Beautifully presented.

3. Wray-Ramsden, Beldones Pandora

OPEN BITCH (8,1)
1. Walder, Ch Beldones La Vita Bella For Hanvale JW- Super bitch of immense quality.  Everything to like about her with the softest of expressions, correct stop and head planes.  She knew just how to use her well placed ears to advantage and when required. Easy to see why she is a Champion.  Great reach of neck and another with a lovely topline.  Moved a dream round the Ring.  In good coat and this was beautifully presented.  RES C.C.

2. Congdon, Lolita Lempicka De Clos De Sea-wind Via Aaronwell - B/M who was beautifully marked.  She had a sweet expression and dark eye.  Lovely outline and balance to her.  Moved with drive.  Immaculately presented.
3. Muir, Tiganlea Fairy Tale
