Rough Collies
I would like to thank the London & Provincial Collie Club and it’s committee for inviting me to judge the rough collies at their show. It was a very enjoyable day in a friendly atmosphere, assisted by my stewards who kept the proceedings running smoothly for me. Also, I would like to thank the exhibitors for their entries which were of a high quality groomed and presented in good condition. I had some very difficult decisions in several classes.

1 Wray-Ramsdens – TAKHISIS MAGIC OF DREAMS
Young 6 month old tricolour dog puppy of good size with moulded wedge shape muzzle, sweet almond eyes and correct ears. Nice balance between arched neck and body length. Stood square with plenty of bone and good rear angulation. Moved well.

9 month old striking sable and white dog puppy. Beautifully moulded head with lovely soft eyes and very alertly tipped ear carriage. Soundly constructed with strong neck, deep chest and correct length of back. Stood square with plenty of bone and good front and rear angulation. Moved very well. BPD and RBD
2 Massons – SAMHAVEN GOLDEN SHADOW
11 month old sable and white dog with pleasing balanced head patterns. Good almond eyes and neat ear carriage. Arched neck and good length of body. In good clean coat and condition. Moved okay.

1 Lockyers – ONCE UPON A TIME DU CLOS DE SEA-WIND WITH GATAJ (IMP FRA)
12 month old sable and white dog of excellent quality. Smooth wedge shape head and lovely sweet almond eyes. Ears tipped. Strong arched neck and deep chest with good body shape and conformation. In beautiful coat and condition and moved with ease around the ring.
2 Dinnadges – TRENLEY TRUE GRIT OF BELLCOT
15 month old sable and white dog of sound quality with ample coat groomed and presented in good condition. Masculine head with almond eyes and smooth cheeks. Lovely outline strongly constructed. Plenty of bone with good front and rear angulation. Moved okay.

1 Planks – RAYVEL REMBRANDT
18 month old sable and white dog losing his puppy coat. It did not, however, detract from his overall conformation, highlighting his construction, body shape and stance. A young masculine head with obliquely set almond eyes. Good ear placement and strong neck. Tentative to owner and moved so effortlessly with drive. Movement won him BD
2 Lockyers – RIVERSIDE SONG XELLENT WINNER AT GATAJ (IMP ROM)
13 month old sable and white dog with profuse coat, beautifully groomed and presented. He has a well balanced smoothly wedge shape head with lovely almond eye and correctly tipped ears. Sound conformation with solid stance and ample bone. Moved well.

2 year old sable and white dog with lovely shape and conformation. Masculine balanced head with sweet eyes and well placed ears. Good stop and smooth cheeks. Well arched neck and length of back. Nicely boned in good coat and condition. Moved very well.
Res Maxwell & Wallis’ – TRENLEY TAVANAGH AT HAMISKS
2 year old sable and white dog of pleasing shape with masculine head, good stop and tight ear carriage. Correct arched neck to body ratio with ample bone and sound construction.

6 year old sable and white dog full of life and intent on bait. Well rounded muzzle and wedge head with almond eyes and alert ears. Strong body construction and stance with good bend of stifle. In good coat and condition. Moved well.
2 Wray-Ramsdens – TAKHISIS TRICK OR TREAT
4 year old tricolour dog who didn’t appear to be enjoying himself today, which was a shame. Nicely rounded muzzle with correct stop, arched neck and good outline. Stood square with good bone.

1 James’ – MORVANIA SUMMER AFFAIR AT DEANJAN
11 year old sable and white bitch who defies her age. She has still got that elegance in conformation and shows with heart. Head, eyes and ears have not lost any of their beauty and was enjoying her day out. Her movement can still knock socks off many younger collies. BVIB
2 Margetts’ – COLLINGVALE CRÈME CARAMEL JW
A 7 year old richer sable and white bitch with sweet expression and clean wedge shape head. Almond eyes and alert neatly tipped ears. Good arched neck and length of body in good coat. Moved well
3 Clarks – BUEBEZI BIJOU AVEC DERBYPARK JW
Another 11 year old blue merle lady. Beautiful coat and lovely condition still retaining her shapely outline and silvery blue colour. Never lets her owner down.

A very feminine 7 month old sable and white puppy bitch with excellent outline and conformation. Very sweet and smooth wedge shaped head with good underjaw. Lovely almond eyes obliquely set with neatly tipped ears giving that desired melting expression. Stood squarely with good bone and turn of stifle. Very positive on the move. BPIB and BPIS. Well done.
2 Philpins – TUDORLYN A KIND OF MAGIC
A 7 month old tricolour bitch puppy with jet black colour. Very pleasing shape and conformation. Balanced head pattern with arched neck and good body length. Moved well.

9 month old sable and white bitch puppy who possesses the most beautiful expression. Exquisite eyes and tight ears with moulded muzzle and good underjaw. Body shape and outline produced a perfect picture. Lovely coat and condition. What a heartbreak as she was a little nervous and didn’t enjoy being moved.

A beautiful 13 month old sable and white bitch with lovely conformation enhanced by arched neck and shapely body. Very sweet expression, smooth muzzle almond eyes and perfect ear carriage. Showed like she was enjoying the day standing square and elegantly. Moved very well with drive and ease. RBOB

A 13 month old sable and white bitch presented in good condition with wedge shape head, moulded muzzle and alert well placed ears. Good neck and length of back and moved well with drive.

22 month old sable and white bitch who is very feminine with soft sweet expression enhanced by her almond eyes and neatly tipped ear carriage. Balanced outline with arched neck, shoulder placement and body shape. Nicely boned with bend of stifle. Stood square and moved very well.

21 month old sable and white bitch again very feminine with sweet expression. Good wedge shape head and rounded muzzle. Lovely eye shape and tight ears. Ample coat in excellent condition. Good bone, stood square and moved well.

1 2 year old sable and white bitch. Wedge shape head with smooth cheek lines and correct stop. Sound in construction with good shoulder angulation and plenty of bone. Stood square and moved okay.

1 McDades – FRIDENS CAPTIVATION WITH LYNDALE (IMP RUS)
I have seen this 2 year old blue merle lady many times at shows and she gets better and better. Has always been a favourite and today just stood out with her elegance and showmanship. Such a soft sweet expression with clean lines, her almond eyes, correctly placed ears and beautiful facial markings, which can be so difficult with a blue, makes it so special when it all comes together. Arched neck and correct body length in beautiful coat and super condition, she moved with effortless ease and positivity floated around the ring. A well deserved BOB and in the challenge for BIS she showed constantly, waiting patiently free standing, while the smooth collies were being stacked.

A 2 year old sable and white bitch of good colour in lovely coat and condition. Clean head with rounded muzzle and good underjaw, sweet eye and neatly tipped ears. Feminine expression with balanced outline and ample bone. Moved soundly.

A 2 year old sable and white bitch who is petite and shapely. Very elegant with lovely alert expression enhanced by her sweet almond eyes and tightly tipped ears. Good reach of neck perfectly blended with body length and overall conformation. Stood squarely with rounded bone and correct front and rear angulation. Moved with ease and drive.
