Rough Collies

I would like to thank the committee of The London & Provincial Collie Club for inviting me to judge Rough Collies at my first 'B' list appointment and to my two lovely stewards for all their help in keeping the ring running smoothly. I didn't have a big entry but what I did have I was generally happy with. Soundness and confirmation was also generally good. If I'm honest I would have enjoyed my appointment more if it wasn't so hot. I struggle with the heat which made it uncomfortable standing in the ring and of course I was concerned for the dogs but they seemed to manage. Thank you to everyone for their entries.

Yearling Dog 2 :    1st Fullers Hanvale Arthur Shelby with Danos. 19 month old Sable & White male who looked good and was well presented. He has lovely dark eyes giving a sweet expression even though for me he is a little deeper in stop than I would prefer. He has lovely ears which were well placed. He is well balanced with a good level top line. On the move he moved well and seemed to be enjoying his outing.
2nd  Beadens Samhaven Lazarus. 22 month old tri coloured male. Lovely boy but for me he is a little wide in head and again his stop is deeper than I would prefer. However, he is a sweet boy with lovely dark eyes setting off a kind expression. He has lovely ears which he used well. He was shown in good coat and has good front and rear angulations. I was told by his handler that it was his first time in the ring so the whole day was new to him. So, for his first outing I felt he did really well.

Graduate Dog 2 (1 a) : 1st Hulls Lizmark Gold Sovereign. 2 year old Sable & White Male shown in good coat. He has lovely dark eyes but I feel his ears could be better placed. I found them to be a little to much on the side of his head. I would also prefer more fill of muzzle. He has good tight feet and was steady on the move.

Limit Dog 1 :   1st Benton & Smiths Brooklynson El Dorado. 2 1/2 year old Sable & White male. I quite like this boy as he is my type. His head could be a little cleaner as I find he flares a little in the cheeks. However, he does have a nice fill of muzzle and lovely dark eyes. His ears are well placed and he uses them well. He also has a lovely flat skull. He has a good length of neck which sweeps into a good level top line. Both his front and rear angulations are good and he moved really well around the ring. He is very attentive to his handler. BD & RBOB

Vet Dog 3 :   1st  Hulls Lizmark Gold Standard. 8 year old Sable & White Male shown in good coat. He has a kind expression with lovely dark eye. His ears are used and placed well. I would have liked a little more body weight under his coat. On the move he is steady and seemed very interested in all that was happening around him.
2nd  Skinners Nikal it's Gud to be Black. 8 year old tri coloured male who is most definitely attentive to his handler. Once again he is a little to wide in the skull for me and his stop is to deep. However, he has a lovely flat skull and his ears are placed and used well. He is good for bone with lovely right feet. On the move he was steady.
3rd  Walton's Markenfield Sirius Black at Waltstar

Puppy Bitch 2 (2 a)

Junior Bitch 1 (1 a)

Yearling Bitch 3 :  1st  Beaden & Arrowsmith's Saganan Blue Diamond. 20 month old femine blue bitch who was shown in tip top condition. I found her colour to be very clear.  Her head was pleasing and her ears were correctly placed and used well. She is a lovely shape with a good lay of shoulder. She has food front and rear angulations. On such a warm day she had no problem moving gracefully around the ring. I was pleased to award her RBB.
2nd  Arrowsmith's Saganan Dancing in the Dark. 20 month old tri coloured bitch also shown in tip top condition and is litter sister to 1. I also found this girl very feminine but I preferred the expression and eye placement on 1.   I also feel her ears are a little widely set apart. However, she is a lovely shape and she was wearing a beautifully fitted coat which showed off her lovely outline. Her angulations are good and she moved beautifully around the ring.
3rd  Collino's Imaginist Sparrowhawk

Graduate Bitch 3 (1 a) 1st  Daley's Rahlissa Charmaine with Melaya. 2 1/2 year old Sable & White Bitch. Another feminine but again her stop was to deep for me. However, she has lovely dark eyes setting off her sweet expression. Her ears are well tipped and placed well. She has a good length of neck with a good level top line with a slight rise over the loin. She moved well.
2nd  Hulls Lizmark Becks Beauty. 5 year old Sable & White Bitch shown in good coat. She has lovely dark eyes setting off her feminine expression but again I felt her ears were slightly set to wide apart and she would of benefited from more fill of muzzle. She has a good length of neck with a good level top line. On the move I felt she was feeling the heat.

Post Graduate Bitch 3 ( 2 a)  1st  Beadens Myriehewe Promises. 2 year old Tri coloured Bitch shown in excellent condition. This bitch stood alone but she did not disappoint me. On first approaching her she was a little unsettled but once I started going over her she relaxed. I found her to be ultra feminine and her coat gleamed in the warmth of the sun. Not quite my head type but I still found her head pleasing with lovely dark correctly placed eyes setting off her feminine expression. She has lovely well placed ears which she used well. She has a good level top line and good front and rear angulations with a good lay of shoulder. Even though the day was hot she had no problem moving around the ring with ease. She worked well with her handler . It was a pleasure to award her BB & BOB

Limit Bitch 3 (1 a) 1st Skinners Samhaven Time is Money with Nikal. 5 year old Tri coloured Bitch. Unfortunately this girl was just starting to drop coat. She is good for substance . Her eyes are dark and her expression is kind. Her ears are well set and she uses them well. Both front and rear angulations are good. On the move she is steady and very attentive to her handler.
2nd  Collino's Imaganist Wrenaissance. 6 year old Shaded Sable & White Bitch. This girl is my type and has the head type that I like. Her head is clean with a slight but perceptible stop with no flare to the cheeks. Her eyes are dark and well placed. Her ears are correctly placed and used well. She is well balanced. However, on the move I just found her to be a little close behind in her rear movement and today she was not in the best of coat.

Open Bitch 4 ( 2 a) 1st  Bentons Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle. 5 year old Sable & White Bitch. I have judged this girl on a few occasions now and on movement she never disappoints. I also love her spirit and the cheekiness she has towards her handler. Her head is pleasing and she has a good length of neck. She wears a well fitted coat which shows off her lovely feminine shape.
2nd Collino's Imaganist Waxing Lyrical. 7 year old Shaded Sable & white  Bitch. I really like this girl and one I admire. I actually prefer the head on this girl to the head on 1. Her head is clean with the correct amount of stop. Lovely dark eyes setting off her kind feminine  expression. She has lovely ears which are placed and used well. She is good for substance. She was in good coat and very attentive to her handler. Today I felt she just lacked in movement possibly due to the heat which lost her the class as I know she can do better. Very close between these two girls.

Veteran Bitch 4 (2 a) 1st  Loaders Ch Ingledene Lace & Promises at Allangill. 9 year old Tri coloured Bitch shown in good coat. . I thought she was lovely and I liked her kind expression. She is a feminine girl who showed really well for her handler. She has a good top line which she kept well while on the move and is good for bone. On the move she was steady but she could do with losing a few inches around her waist. I liked her very much.
2nd  Hulls Lizmark Gold Nugget. 8 year old Tri coloured Bitch wearing a well fitted coat showing off her lovely feminine outline. She has a lovely expression with a well moulded  fore face. She has a good length of neck and  back with good angulations both front and rear. On the move she was steady.
