I would like to thank the committee of The Collie club of Wales for inviting me to judge Smooth Collies on my first B List appointment and the SAC's for Rough Collies at this friendly and well run show. I was not disappointed with my entry or the quality of the dogs.

I was very happy very with movement from the Smooths. Naturally the younger dogs were a little playful on the move but this is to be expected. I found there were no cow hocks, weak hind quarters or short tails. What I saw was what I got. I thoroughly enjoyed my day judging this lovely breed.

1st Martin & Howard's Shandlmain Blu Chief. 7 month old Blue Merle dog. I found him to be such a happy boy who seemed to be enjoying his day out. He is well marked and a clean clear blue. He is good for bone and substance. He has a well moulded fore face and lovely dark eyes which are correctly placed. Ears are also correct. He has a good length of neck and a good top line. He has good front and rear angulations with a lovely turn of stifle. On the move his happy personality shows. RBD  BPD

class 11 : Smooth Collie Open dog  2 entries
1st Denton's Ch Brackenhaye Fields of Gold. 3 1/2 yr old shaded sable male. I found a lot to like about this boy. He was so masculine and well muscled. He has a pleasing head with a good fill of muzzle. Dark eyes which are correctly placed and the correct amount of stop. His ears are nicely tipped, well placed and used to his advantage. Both his front and rear angulations are good and he has nice right feet. Good length of tail reaching his hock joints. He moved well and I found him very sound. BD  BOB  BOS  & RBIS

2nd  Beeney's Coneypark Black Sabbath. 3 yr old tri coloured male. Another well muscled masculine male. I found his head well moulded but stronger in head than 1. Lovely dark eyes setting off his masculine expression. Ears correctly placed and used well. Good length of neck with a good lay of shoulder. He has good front angulation but I would prefer more angulation at the rear. Moved well.  Very close between these 2 boys.

Class 12 : Smooth Collie Yearling bitch  1 entry
1st  Moores Blamorder Ridin on a Rainbow to Manordeifi.  19 month old tri colour bitch. A happy girl who is lively on the move. She has a pleasing head with a kind expression but I would have preferred a slightly better ear set and carriage. She is good  for substance but  would have benefited from a little more waiste. She has good angulations but needs to steady herself on the move.

Class 13 : Smooth Collie Limit bitch 2 entries
1st Benton's Oakestelle Artemis. 2 yr old very feminine blue bitch shown in tip top condition. She is such a lovely shape, so well balanced and In constant harmony with her handler. She has a lovely clean head but I would prefer a little more fill of muzzle. Her ears are well placed and correctly tipped. She has a lovely reach of neck and a good level top line. She has both good front and rear angulations with nice tight feet. Good length of tail reaching her hock joints. On the move she is graceful and forward going. BB  RBOB
2nd Sweeny & Lusty's Blamorder Do Quite Nicely. 6 month old blue bitch. I really liked this little girl, she was such a sweetie. She needs to settle while being assessed but she is young and will settle with maturity. She has a lovely head with a good fill of muzzle and a very kind expression. Her shape is pleasing with good front and rear angulations and she is good for bone. She moved well,  just lost to 1 on maturity. I'm sure she will  have a good future ahead of her. BPIB BPIS

1st  Beeney's Ryecombe Jolly Jonquil at Coneypark. 7 yr old sable bitch shown in lovely condition. She has a pleasing head with a good fill of muzzle. She has lovely dark eyes which are correctly placed. Her ears are well placed and correctly tipped. Lovely length of neck which sweeps into a lovely level top line. She has a good lay of shoulder with good front and rear angulations. She moved well.
2nd Benton's Oakestelle Venus De Milo. 6 yr old blue bitch. Another well balanced bitch from this kennel. She has a clean head which is smooth in outline. Lovely dark eyes giving an alert expression. Her ears are well placed and correctly tipped. She has a good length of neck sweeping into a good level top line. Front and rear angulations are both good and she is well muscled. Correct length of tail. On the move she is sound and forward going.

1st  Moores  Tomalca Buttons 'N' Bows at Manordeifi. 7 yr old sable bitch. I really liked this little lady, I found her so delightful. Her head was pleasing with lovely dark almond shaped eyes which are correctly placed. Her ears are correctly placed, well tipped and she used them to her advantage. She has a good body shape with a good level top line. Front and rear angulations are good and she has nice tight oval feet. On the move she was steady and seemed to enjoy her day in the show ring. Class D : SAC Junior Dog or Bitch 3 Entries (2 a)
1st  Flowers Serenlas Heaven in Blue. 18 month Blue Bitch. Beautiful coat and colour and shown in excellent condition. I found her head pleasing with a good fill of muzzle. She has lovely eyes setting off her kind expression. Beautifully placed ears which are correctly tipped. She is feminine with a good body shape and good lay of shoulder. Front and rear angulations are good and she has lovely tight oval feet. She moved well and with ease.

Class E : SAC Post Graduate Dog or Bitch  2 Entries
1st  Scamps Stregato The Maleficent at Marketdene. 3 yr old shaded sable bitch. Not the first time I have seen this girl, I liked her then and I still like her and one I could take home. She is so much my type. I just love her head. She is so clean with no flare to the cheeks. She has lovely dark almond shaped eyes which are correctly placed. She has the correct amount of stop, slight but perceptible. Her ears are correctly tipped and well placed. She was shown in good coat, has good body shape and is good for substance. Both front and rear angulations are good and her movement shows off her cheeky nature. For me she is quality.
2nd  Cronks Culbrae Code Red at Chelborn. 2 yr old sable dog. Good size male shown in good coat. Slightly wider in head and deeper in stop than I would prefer. He has lovely ears which were nicely tipped. Lovely eyes setting off a kind expression. On the move he was steady but today I found him to move a little close behind.

Class F : SAC Open Dog or Bitch  6 entries ( 2 a)
1st Flowers Serenlas Keeping Faith. 5 yr old tri colour bitch. Lovely feminine girl shown in lovely condition. Beautiful clean head with no flare to the cheeks. She has a lovely flat skull and a good fill of muzzle. She has the correct amount of stop which is required by the breed, slight but perceptible. She has lovely dark eyes setting off her lovely feminine expression. She is a well balanced girl with both good front and rear angulation. She has a good length of tail reaching her hock joints and her movement around the ring was effortless.
2nd  Lockyer's Takhisis Hope & Dreams with Gataj. 3 yr old sable bitch. Very feminine young lady shown in lovely condition. A pretty girl but again wider in skull than I would prefer. She has a good fill of muzzle with lovely dark almond shaped eyes setting off her sweet expression. She has good body shape with good angulations. Her movement was steady.
