COLLIE ROUGH

My thanks to the Society’s Committee for the opportunity to judge Rough Collies today. I would also like to thank my stewards, Ann & Fay, who in an efficient and unobtrusive way kept the proceedings running so smoothly. I was generally happy with the quality of the dogs exhibited, enabling me to end up with line-ups full of excellent Collies. I found temperaments to be very good. 

MPD (2, 1) 1 Hawkins’ Brilyn That Old Black Magic. A well developed tri of 7 months with good colour and markings. His head is well balanced and of good length, with level planes, good ear set and soft expression. With a straight front, good reach of neck, level topline, good bend of stifle and neat feet he presents a lovely overall outline. Movement was true, light and effortless with good reach. BPD, BP.

PD (2, 1) 1 Lockyer’s O’Conner Du Bois Des Amazones At Gataj (Imp Fra). A 12 month old s/w in profuse coat. Balanced head with a rounded muzzle, very sweet eye and expression and good underjaw. Neat feet and good bend of stifle, length of hock and once settled moved lightly around the ring. 

JD (7, 2) 1 Lockyer’s Once Upon A time Du Clos De Sea-Wind With With Gataj (Imp). A well presented s/w with a balanced head, sweet eye and although ears could be tighter still presented the required soft expression. Good depth and spring of rib, front and rear angulation and nicely muscled. Moved away true. 2 Jones’ Brooklynson Black Diamond With Dancol. A nicely matured tri with a balanced head of good length. Good reach of neck, length of back and level topline. Good hock length and neat feet. Strode out well, moving freely around the ring. 3 Radford-House’s Ladnar Stake Out At Fivejays. 

YD (5) 1 Lockyer’s Think Of Me Prince Of Sunlight At Gataj (Imp) JW. A beautifully marked and presented shaded s/w with a lovely overall balanced outline. A natural showman with a lovely temperament, balanced head with a sweet eye and expression. Good front assembly, depth of rib, reach of neck and rear angulation. Moved true front and rear. 2 Jones’ Brooklynson Black Diamond With Dancol. 3 Brown & Jopson’s Lillyway Lattimer At Nithview.

ND (2, 1) 1 Davis’ Monsolana Read Of Me Via Rosschell. A well presented young tri, with a balanced head, with level planes, a sweet eye and ears used to good effect to give the softest of expression. A natural showman, with good overall outline from good reach and arch of neck, level topline and neat feet. Moved freely with a strong rear end. 

GD (3, 1) 1 White’s Mejola Dangerous Liaison.B/m, balanced head with level planes, sweet eye with ears used well when required all resulting in the gentlest expression. A body fitting coat, good depth and spring of rib, length of neck, bend of stifle and neat feet. Resultant movement was true and effortless when viewed, front, rear and in profile. 2 Jones’ Brooklynson Black Diamond With Dancol. 

PGD (3) 1 Byrne’s Ingledene Affairs By Nite. A shaded s/w, with a classic balanced head of good length and although a reluctant showman, used his ears enough to show off his correct expression with a sweet eye. He is well made with good front and rear angulation, length of neck and back and well muscled. Really came into his own on the move with good front reach and rear end drive. 2 Gallagher’s Kisalagi D’artagnan At Galdana (Imp). Golden sable, beautifully marked and presented with a balanced head, rounded muzzle, sweet and well positioned eye and lovely expression. Good forechest, length of neck, depth of rib, bend of stifle and length of hock. Moved true; on the day not quite the reach and drive of first. 3 Hassock’s Camanna Codename. 

LD (6, 1) 1 White’s Mejola Fate And Fortune. A quality b/m who conveys the strength and elegance required of a male Collie. Balanced head of good length, obviously male with a super colour and shaped eye, level planes, well positioned ears used when needed, giving the correct soft expression. A straight front, good shoulder, reach of neck, depth of rib, length of back, bend of stifle and straight hocks, all resulting in a lovely outline. All topped off with a well presented fitting coat of good colour and markings. Movement was true when viewed, front, rear and in profile, showing good reach and rear end power applied effortlessly. CC. 2 Lockyer’s Gataj Beau Of Surprises JW. Tri, beautifully presented in super condition with gleaming black coat and lovely markings. Masculine head but with the softest of eye and expression with level planes. Well made with good bone and nicely muscled, straight front, good forechest, depth and spring of rib, bend of stifle and length of hocks. Moved true and freely around the ring, away, coming and when viewed in profile. RCC. 3 Benton & Smith’s Brocklynson El Dorado.

 
OD (5, 1) 1 Tipper’s Tiganlea Tone Down. Superbly presented tri in good condition and with a lovely temperament. Nicely balanced head, with level planes, well positioned stop, and sweet eye. Good shoulder, reach of neck, depth of rib, topline, rear angulation and length of hock. Movement was true, both front and rear. 2 Corben’s Caprioara Silver Cloud. B/m of good colour with a balanced head of good length. Good front angulation, depth and spring of rib, length of back, rear angulation and length of hocks. Well boned and muscled. Moved true with drive from the rear. 3 Barron & Jenkins’ Xcode Della Bucca Delle At Rannaleroch (Imp). 

VD (2) Two lovely boys. 1 Clare’s Bluchip Solar Storm Of Skyeshelm. 8 year old tri in lovely condition. Balanced head, good under jaw and sweet eye and expression. Good outline with straight front, good reach of neck, topline, bend of stifle and straight hocks. Moved like a youngster with good reach and true rear end drive. BV. 2 Skinner’s Nikal It’s Gud To Be Black. Similar aged tri with a gleaming black coat in good condition and nice markings. A young looking balanced head with again the gentlest of expressions. Stood with neat feet, good front and rear angulation and straight hocks. Moved true front and rear, but on the day not quite the enthusiasm and drive of first. 

SBB (3,1) 1 Boyle’s Monsolana Madame Blues Over Barrenclough (Imp) ShCM. A b/m with a profuse coat of good colour and markings. Balanced head with level planes and gentle expression. Straight front, good reach of neck, bend of stifle and good hocks. Moved effortlessly. BSB. 2 Simpson’s Irresistible Reverie Of The Windy Lands For Gaeldom. 12 month old tri of good colour with a feminine balanced head with a sweet eye. A very sweet temperament, with a good overall outline. Moved well once settled. 

MPB (7) A lovely class of babies. 1 Jackson’s Sassari Sparkles. A well developed b/m of 8 months with a super balanced head of good length, a natural showgirl with a correctly placed stop and lovely ear and eye set for correct expression. Although slightly dark in colour she showed a lovely overall outline from a good reach of neck, topline, front and rear angulation, all resulting in super movement, true, light and effortless. BPB. 2 Clare’s Bluchip Syrah. A 6 month old s/w, with a very feminine balanced head with beautiful set eyes and ears, used to good effect for the sweetest of expressions. So mature in temperament, although still to fill in body, she stood firm with a straight front, good length of back, front and rear angulation. resulting in true and light movement around the ring. 3 Tipper’s Tiganlea Twinkling Star. 

PB (6, 2) 1 Burrows’ Revdvicki Black Diamond. Beautifully presented tri baby of good colour and markings. Well balanced feminine head with a sweet eye and soft expression. Good overall outline with a good reach of neck, straight front and good rear angulation and hocks. Moved true front and rear and effortless around the ring. 2 Flowers’ Serenlas Heaven In Blu. Well made b/m of good colour and markings. A natural showgirl with classic balanced head of good length with good eye, ear and stop placement for the required expression. Good overall outline with a lovely length of neck, good forechest, angles, neat feet and hocks. Moved well but on the day not quite the smoothness of first. 3 Grindley’s Lanrue Emma Emily.

JB (14, 5) 1 Beaden & Arrowsmith’s Saganan Blue Diamond. Stunning b/m, beautifully presented. Balanced head, rounded muzzle, good stop placement, sweet eye and ears used well for super expression. Lovely reach of neck, good front and rear angulation, bend of stifle and topline. True effortless movement with reach and drive. 2 White’s Mejola Physical Attraction. Tri, very mature in structure, movement and temperament, with good colour and markings. Nicely balanced head, level planes, sweet eye and soft expression a natural showgirl. Lovely overall outline with good front and rear angulation, with super movement front, rear and in profile. 3 Milligan & Marley’s Ladnar Trust In Me. 

YB (7, 3) 1 Milligan & Marley’s Ladnar Trust In Me. Third in junior a well presented b/m of good colour with a balanced head with well placed eye and ears used to advantage for a soft expression. Well made with a good overall outline with good shoulder, bend of stifle and neat feet. Moved freely and true. 2 Growcott’s Lillyway Lemonade Blush. S/w with a very feminine balanced head, sweet eye and soft expression and full of character. Good forechest, depth of rib, bend of stifle and straight hocks. Light and true movement front and rear. 3 Lockyer’s Beldones Coco Mademoiselle At Gataj. 

NB (4, 2) 1 Grindley’s Lanrue Emma Emily. Third in puppy a well presented very mature s/w of good colour and markings with feminine balanced head, sweet well placed eye and ears to give the softest of expressions. Lovely feminine outline with good forechest, reach of neck, front and rear angluation, bend of stifle and straight hocks. Moved true front and rear. 2 Barron & Jenkins’ Tiganlea Twinkling Saphire At Rannaleroch. A 7 month puppy of good colour and markings. Sweet feminine head, with level planes and the softest of expressions. Good depth and spring of rib and well boned, still to acquire her adult coat to complete the picture. A little unsettled on the move, hopefully she will settle with maturity. 

GB (1) 1 Walder’s Hanvale Polly Shelby. Very sweet s/w in lovely condition, beautifully presented with correctly fitting coat of good colour and markings. Balanced feminine head, level planes, well placed stop with sweet eye and expression, natural showgirl. Well balanced outline, good forechest, depth of rib, front and rear angulation. Moved true and light around the ring. 

PGB (5, 3) 1 Williams’ Ingledene Seasons In The Sun At Essanjay. Shaded s/w with head of good length, rounded muzzle, good eye placement for a soft feminine expression. Lovely condition body fitting coat with good reach of neck, forechest, front and rear angulation, length of back and neat feet and with good bone and muscle, all of which showed in her movement front, rear and in profile. 2 Clare’s Ingledene Nitesky Of Skyeshelm. Tri with a beautiful black body fitting jacket and good markings. Balanced head of good length, level planes and sweet eye and soft expression. Lovely outline with good reach of neck, shoulder, depth & spring of rib and straight hocks. Effortless true movement with good reach, not quite the drive of first.

LB (14) Fabulous class with so many quality bitches. 1 Randall’s Fata Turchina Ladnar Di Cambiano (Imp). Beautifylly presented b/m in lovely condition with a body fitting coat of good colour and markings. True balanced head of good length with good eye and stop placement. Lovely outline with good forechest, reach of neck, front and rear angulation, depth of rib, level topline and straight hocks. Nicely muscled. On the move, so true with correct reach and drive. 2 Flowers’ Serenlas Keeping Faith. Tri with a nicely balanced head of good length with a sweet eye, ears used well, correct stop for a soft expression, a natural showgirl. Good front and rear angulation, depth of rib, length of back. Good colour and markings. Moved effortlessly with good front reach and rear end drive. 3 MacDonald’s Brooklynson Hepburn At Rossavon. 

OB (11, 1) Another class with so many quality bitches. 1 Cronk’s Chelborn Kiss’N Desire. A shaded s/w in full bloom with a balanced and sweet feminine head, with correctly placed eye and stop and correct ear position used for the perfect feminine expression, a super showgirl. Stunning make and shape with straight front, good reach of neck, rib, front and rear angles, length of back, bend of stifle and straight hocks and nicely muscled. All topped off with a beautifully presented correctly fitting coat. In line with her good conformation her movement is a joy to watch, up, down and in profile with a lovely flowing action showing good forward extension with rear end drive. CC, BOB. 2 Jackson’s Sassari Sea Shimmer. A beautiful b/m with a lot of qualities of first, with a balanced feminine head of good length, correctly placed stop, good shaped eye and ears used to good effect for the required soft expression. Good reach of neck, forechest, front and rear angles, bend of stifle and straight hocks presented the correct top line. Her beautifully presented body fitting coat of good colour and markings completes the picture, such a lovely showgirl. Her movement is true and flowing with good forward extension andstrong rear end drive. A beautiful girl with the drive required of a working dog. RCC. 3 Walder’s Beldones La Vita Bella For Hanvale JW.

VB (3) Three lovely veterans a credit to their owners. 1 Growcott’s Jopium Fascinator. A 7 year old tri that belies her veteran status, still a natural showgirl, so alert and attentive to her handler, with good eye and ear placement, rounded muzzle and sweet expression. Outline is good with straight front, good reach of neck, angles, good length of back, bend of stifle& hocks. A beautifully presented gleaming coat with good markings completed the picture. She moves lightly and true, both front and rear. BVB. 2 Whitaker’s Jopium Magical Dream. Another 7 year old tri not looking her age, very similar to first, and not surprising as I learnt later from the catalogue they are litter sisters. Very alert and attentive to her handler, still a natural showgirl with a sweet eye and soft expression. A straight front, good reach of neck, depth of rib, front and rear angulation, gave a good outline, with a beautifully presented gleaming coat. Movement was true front and rear. 3 Williams’ Essanjay Moonlight Shadow.
