Alfreton & District Canine Society – Open Show – Sunday 15th July 2018

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge and this friendly well organised show. Thank you also to the Rough Collie and Sheltie exhibitors for accepting me as your replacement judge; I thoroughly enjoyed the appointment.

ROUGH COLLIES

JUNIOR (7, 2 abs) 1st Flint’s Highnol Flaming Heart – 9 month old sable bitch of nice size and excellent breed type. Good head with alert expression, slight stop and well-set ears. Matching angulation front and rear, steady correct mover when she settled, showing plenty of attitude, in fabulous coat for her age. BP. 2. Beardsworth’s Maysinder Empress Of India 6 month old tri bitch not yet in full coat but showing lots of promise. Good head proportions with correct bite and sweet expression. Nice reach of neck, lovely shape all through, neat sound mover, just lost out on maturity today.

POST GRADUATE (5, 1 abs) 1st White’s Mejola Dangerous Liaison – 2 year old blue merle tri male oozing quality. Nothing to fault on this boy from his excellent head to well carried tail. Masculine yet elegant, excellent shoulder placement and deep long rib, strong top line with slight rise over loin. Stood out on the move for me with his long stride covering plenty of ground in profile and straight coming and going. BOB. 2. Whitaker’s Aniesh Misty Blue Moon Of Siluto – 4 year old blue merle bitch, of smaller size and very feminine, not quite in full coat but liked her overall balance and outline. Good front with well laid back shoulders, rear angles to match, good mover.

OPEN (8, 4 abs) 1st White’s Corydon Femme Fatale For Mejola JW - 4 year old tri bitch in fabulous coat and condition. Excellent head with dark almond shaped eyes, moved well with a long stride, lovely attitude, just preferred the overall length to height proportions of her son for BOB 2. Whitaker’s Jopium Magical Dream – 6 year old tri bitch. Strong correct front with nice amount of bone, good length of rib and strong top line with slight rise over loin, a picture standing but just a little hesitant on the move today.
