MANCHESTER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – 21st JANUARY 2017

I would like to thank the Committee for the invitation to Judge and to my very able Stewards, Joyce and Jean.  To the exhibitors for a great entry filled with quality specimens of the Breed. 
Grooming was up to standard, a few whose dental hygiene could have been much better, strangely these were all in the one class!  One in season and one with a dirty backside. For ring presentation, cleanliness is from tip of nose to tail and everything in between. 
The Ring was horrendously small for the entry with a pillar in the middle of the ring. I started the Classes moving the dogs around the ring initially but had to forego this when it came to the bitches as numbers were higher and just not feasible, I allowed for this in movement in both dogs and bitches.

1. Grainger’s, Samhaven Sound Track: 6 ½ month old eye-catching s/w baby, who already shows lots of promise. Balanced throughout. Dark, correctly placed eye, smashing ear set and carriage. Good length of tail.  Well handled. Presentation exemplary.  Roly poly on the move but a baby.   RBD

2.Boyle’s, Barrenclough Diamond Days: 11month old handsome s/w.  Soft yet masculine expression from correct eye.  Ear set as it should be. Lovely length to height ratio. Moved okay. Good presentation.

3.White’s, Mejola Dangerous Liaison.

1.Allen’s, Lynmack Labyrinth: Upstanding s/w, lovely smooth head planes and correct eye and ear placement, which he used to advantage.  Another with a dreamy expression. Correct length to height ratio and good tailset and length.  Presentation excellent. Moved well.

POST GRADUATE (6, 0)
1.Allen’s, Lynmack Brooklyn Nights:  For me, this was ‘impassive dignity’ at its best.  A youngster indeed, but absolute quality. Totally at one with his young handler. His masculine dreamy expression coming from super dark eye, ears on top, moulded foreface and correct stop.  His head was a delight to handle with good underjaw and immaculate teeth, all giving a clean wedge.  Super reach of neck. Overall balance was correct as was tail length.  Presentation a credit to his handler, not in full coat but enough to carry him through.  Managed the floor with no problems moving with drive whilst maintaining a level topline.  Loved him.   BD

2. Jones’, Erjon Early Edition:  Masculine s/w in good body.  Stronger in head to (1), nonetheless, all in proportion.  Pleasing expression from correct dark eye and ears on top.  Good underjaw.  In great condition and moved effortlessly. 
3. Steven’s Cariadhaf Crazy Dream.

OPEN (9,1)
1.White’s, Mejola I am Persuasive: S/s Not my preferred head type.  However, he was balanced throughout and moved well.  Excellent presentation and well handled.
2.Cole’s, Alanita All That Jazz: Jet black tri with pleasing head qualities. A reluctant showman.  Would have liked tighter ear carriage.  Moved okay. Good presentation.

PUPPY (16,4)
1.Jones’, Erjon Exclusively Special: and Special she was.  This, up-to-size, young lady was quite breathtaking.  Her maturity shining through.  Very pretty head which created her attractive expression from correct stop, eye placement and ears used to top this off.  Balance was there giving her a super profile from reach of neck, through to bend of stifle and tail length. Beautifully handled and moved round the ring confidently with drive.  Presentation excellent. Should have a bright future.    BP and RBB

2.Boyle and Grainger’s: Arklethill Helena at Samhaven: Another mature young lady from the top drawer.  Absolute quality.  S/w with gorgeous soft expression from dark eye, correct stop, moulded foreface, and super level planes. Beautifully proportioned and presented to a ‘tee’.  Moved well.
3.Gladwell’s, Monsolan Love N Kiss Jotars NAF (Imp). – Another gorgeous puppy

JUNIOR (8,1)
1. Gladwell’s, Lynmack Let’s Dance With Jotars: I was spoilt today with beautiful dreamy expressions.  Another feminine s/w, with the desired expression coming from just the right size of well-placed eye, level head planes and correct amount of stop.  Correct shoulder angulation and spring of rib. Showed well.  Beautifully presented.  Moved smoothly.
2. Davis’, Fridens Magic Moment For Rosschell (Imp Rus): Very pretty, compact tri, who stood four-square. Well off for bone. Endearing dark eye and ear carriage that was used to advantage. Level head planes. Overall balanced with no coarseness.  Presentation excellent and ably handled by her young charge.
3. McDade’s, Beldones Sweet Illusion with Lyndale.

POST GRADUATE (10,1)
1. Tame’s, Samhaven Momentum: I had to double-check this gorgeous lady’s D.O.B. – 5 years old and totally belies her age.  Would have taken her for much younger.  A sweet expression and softness coming from oblique eye and correctly placed stop.  Head handled well.  Lovely reach of neck and spring of rib down to bend of stifle.  Excellent presentation. 

2. McEntee’s, Gerian Sunpoppet:  Sweetest of expressions and dark eye.  Good ears.  She was balanced throughout. Beautifully presented.  Loved this girl but would have liked more of her.
3. Watt’s, Chelborn Justified with Culbrae.

OPEN (14, 3)
1. Foy and Hawkins’: Beldones Fit For Fun: My notes say ‘Perfect’ and for me that is exactly what she was.  Could not fault her.  Quality through and through. S/w who, in profile, presented the desired look and showed off her elegant reach of neck, into angulated shoulder, lovely rise of loin, neat tight feet, bend of stifle and length of tail. Her head – WOW – just what the breed needs! It was all here.  The correct smooth head planes and amount of stop, the moulded foreface and good underjaw.  Correct eye in shape, size and colour topped off with correct sized and placed ears All adding up to a dreamy mesmerising expression. Moved with drive maintaining level topline. Presentation as it should be for the Ring, clean and sparkling throughout.  She adored her handler and commanded attention.  BB and BOB

2. McCormick’s, Lynmack All That Matters: Another very pretty lady.  S/w who, again, has the loveliest of expressions, super correct soft eye in size and placement, moulded foreface and well set ears. Good depth of chest and spring of rib.  Length to height ratio and tail set correct.  Lovely bend of stifle.  Moved well.  Expertly presented.  This was by BD’s Mum, so I can see where he gets his good looks from.
