Ayrshire Collie Club Open show 4th June 2017
Judge Caroline Tipper (Tiganlea)
Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge this show and for making me feel so welcome and the lovely lunch. I had a fantastic entry of Rough Collies and I was very pleased with my line up in both sexes.
Veteran Dog or Bitch 2 (1 abs)
1st Sibald’s Champion Lynmead Amalie Lucy Locket at Telforth A Beautiful bright golden sable & white bitch 7 years old. Not in full coat today but what she had accentuated her lovely shape, length of back and reach of neck. She has a pleasing head with a sweet eye. Very attentive to her handler and she used her ears enough for me. Moved soundly from the rear but toes in a bit at the front. A deserving champion and thank you for bringing her for me to go over
Minor Puppy Dog 2 (0)
1st Proctor’s Wilmaranna Out of the Blue for Cathbri 6½ mth old Blue Merle dog- a little raw at present which is to be expected at this young age. His head needs to develop in stop but has well placed ears which he used well. He has a lovely shape and was very good on the move for one so young.
2nd Higgin’s Stregato Limited Edition. 7mth Sable & White dog. He is a big lad for his age and very well off for bone and somewhat heavy for my taste. He was at his first show and Dog and handler need more practise in ringcraft. His movement was a little erratic which was what lost him the class.
Puppy Dog 0
Junior Dog 2 (2 abs)
Yearling Dog 4 (1 abs)
1st Johnstone’s Seadreamers One and Only (imp NL). A 22mth old bright golden sable & white boy. He has a Lovely shape with a good reach of neck and nice shoulders. His head handles well with a lovely expression and very attentive to his handler, using his ears all the time. In good coat and presented very well. Well-muscled inner thigh and although the best mover in the class with a lovely stride out and good front movement, he moved a little close behind.
2nd Caplan’s Chantique Lover Boy at Whitecraigs Dark Shaded Sable & white dog which created a lovely overall picture. CHe has a lovely length of back with good shoulders and lovely rear angulation. His overall shape is very nice but I preferred the reach of neck of 1. The head is attractive with a pleasant expression and a lovely eye shape. Moved okay
3rd Watson’s Meryctin Knight of the Dance
Maiden Dog 0
Novice dog 1 (o abs)
1st Meryctin Knight of the Dance A S/W dog paced 3rd in the previous class. Pleasing head and expression with a good overall body shape. Very well presented but lost out on movement in the previous class and needs to tighten up in rear movement.
Graduate Dog 3 (0abs)
1st Iley’s Lynmack Tommy Hillfiger by Ileyda JW. A S/W White dog with a wonderful shape, from the excellent reach of neck set into good shoulders and flowing into a back of good length. He has a pleasing head, lovely eye shape and placement and eye with a good well placed stop. He has well placed ears used to good effect. In excellent coat and and condition with excellent presentation. Moved soundly on lovely tight feet.
2nd Patterson & Blaney’s Wilmaranna Forever in Blue. B/M dog of 2 years with a coat of well broken silvery blue colour. His head handled well and he has a nice eye shape and placement. His ears are a little heavy and wide set today. Not the reach of neck of one. Moved okay but tended to lift his tail a bit high on the move
3rd Steven’s Cariadhaf Crazy Dream
Post Graduate Dog 2 (0 abs) Although only 2 in the class, both were beautiful dogs & both pleasing in different ways.
1st Carmichael’s Kilchrenan Keltic Brier JW 2½ tri-colour dog with a jet black coat and a huge white collar which really accentuated his excellent reach of neck. A lovely overall shape with good length of back, nice shoulders and well angulated at the rear. He doesn’t have the sweet head of 2 but it was still very pleasing and I couldn’t deny his placing in this class and Best dog on his movement which was true and with drive. When it came to BIS we had moved outside ad he would not settle on the move on the grass.
2nd Melvin & Jopson’s Leeamanway River Phoenix at Nithview Smaller S/W dog very full of himself today. Exuberant on the move and a little difficult to assess although moved with drive. Very pleasing head with a sweet eye and well placed stop.
Limit Dog 3 (1 abs)
1st Brooker’s I am fantastic du Bois des Amazones for Corisian (Imp FR) S/W dog. I would like him a little bigger all over but what there is in this small package is rather nice. He has a truly excellent head with the most beautiful of expressions. His neck was okay and acceptable for his size. Good length of back and good bend of stifle with well let down hocks. Moved very well which was what won him this class.
2nd Ashe’s Forestwalk Follow Me Again, not a big dog and heavier in the head with not quite the expression of one. He does have a good shape and moved well at the front but a little loose at the back.
Open Dog 1
1st Macarte’s Lynmac Walk all over you at Roughrigg 4 year old Shaded sable boy with a very pleasant head with excellent eye shape, a well-rounded muzzle and good well placed ears. Fantastic length of back with a correct depth of chest. Plenty of heart room here. Moved well on strong well-muscled legs, beautifully presented. Not over happy with being indoors but did enough for me to award Res best dog
Best Dog: Kilchrenan Keltic Brier JW
Res best Dog Lynmac Walk all over you at Roughrigg
BPD Wilmaranna out of the blue for Cathbri
Minor Puppy Bitch 4 (1 abs)
1st Walker & Ritchie’s Chantique Cinderella at Starlenga. This was Cinderella at the ball. No rags here!. Not a flashy Sable but she has a lovely shape with a good reach of neck and an excellent length of back. Well angulated at the ear with well let down hocks which enabled her to move well and with drive. I love her expression with a beautiful dark, sweet, almond shaped eye. Just the right amount of stop for me. A well rounded muzzle finished off the picture. BPB and BPIS
2nd Johnstone’s Riverside Song Milky White Way. A Smaller bitch than 1 and at just 6 months old, hope she grows on. Although a small package, she had a lovely shape with a good reach of neck and length of back. Fantastic well placed ears which she used nonstop. She is a born showgirl. A sweet eye and expression and just a tad short in head for me at the moment but still in development. Showed and moved really well for one so young.
3rd Patterson & Blamey’s Wilmaranna Blue Diamond
Puppy Bitch 2(0 abs)
1st Macarte’s Roughrigg Golden Rhapsody. A 10 mth old Sable bitch with a pleasing shape. Okay for neck, Nice shoulders, Lovely rear angulation enabling her to move with real drive. She has a sweet head and eye with a nice stop but would prefer a stronger underjaw.
2nd Macintyre’s Black ‘n’ Saucy with Amalie; A lovely tri colour bitch with a beautiful jet black coat. She was very unsettled today and would benefit from ringcraft training. Her outline is pleasing when she stood still long enough to look at her! I preferred her head and eye to the winner but movement was very erratic and difficult to assess.
Junior Bitch 3 (1abs)
1st Johnston’s Seadreamers Walking on Sunshine Wow what a stunner. I loved her the minute she walked in the ring and hoped she was a good when she was handled and moved. She was! I had seen her before from the side of the ring and was delighted to have the chance to go over her. She has just the head and expression for me with the correct amount of stop. No coarseness about her at all and so balanced in head and body. She has sweetest of dark eyes with a good underjaw. She has neat tight ears and is a born showgirl. Moved excellently as you would expect from a well-constructed bitch with a fabulous swan like neck set into lovely shoulders and a back of good length with good hind quarters. In full bloom today and at one with her handler. Just lovely and wish I could have taken her home!!! So deserved her award of Best Bitch and Best in Show
2nd Brooker’s Gerian Sun Kisses over Corisian Very Unlucky to meet the winner as I really like this bitch too. Another lovely girl, who is a shade smaller than 1 but with similar qualities. I Preferred the longer lines of 1 but nonetheless she is a very nice bitch with bags of potential. Nice and sound on the move. No disgrace to stand 2nd to the winner.
Yearling Bitch 3 (0abs) 2 lovely tri colour bitches with gleaning jet black coats stood 1st & 2nd. Both had the reach of neck and overall shape I was looking for.
1st Carmichael’s Kilchrenan Zena’s Design Won the class on her overall movement and slightly sweeter eye
2nd Steven’s Cariadhaf Cookies & Cream. Nicely balanced bitch with a lovely overall shape. Moved a little sluggish.
3rd Topham’s Seanchrois Extraordinary Blue Girl
Maiden Bitch 2 (0abs)
1st Macarte’s Roughrigg Golden Rhapsody
2nd Macintyre’s Black ‘n’ Saucy with Amalie
Novice Bitch 2 (1 abs)
1st Ashe’s Amalie Lynmead Hi Hannah at Forestwalk 2 year old S/W bitch. Very unsettled today which was a shame as I really liked her. She had the refined length of head I was looking for with a sweet dark eye and just enough stop. Her ears were all over the place as she looked around anxiously. Moved well as I expected from her construction. Please persevere with her as she has bags of potential if she would settle
Graduate Bitch 3 (1 abs)
1st Murthwaite & Gerrard’s Roughrigg Railroad Rosie Rich golden sable bitch with a pleasing head and eye with tight, neat ears. Had a good length of back and a lovely shape but a little overweight but still sound on the move both ways.
2nd Topham’s Seanchrois Extraordinary Blue Girl Heavily marked B/M bitch 3rd in Pervious class. She had a pleasing head and eye. She was out of coat but it did show her shape off well today. Lost the class on the better movement of the winner.
Post Graduate Bitch 7 (0 abs)
1st Iley’s Bobbi Brown Ileyda Bright Golden S/W bitch. Fabulous Neck and length of back. Good bend of stifle, lovely head & expression with great ears, a pleasing eye and well placed stop. She made a lovely picture standing and didn’t disappoint when moving on sound legs.
2nd Sibald’s Telforth Little Mix Darker S/W bitch with a very pleasing head and eye. Seemed a little reticent and not showing well today. Moved soundly but beaten by the showmanship of 1 as I had to split hairs between them.
3rd Corney’s Apatite Skyes at Yenroc
Limit Bitch 6 (4 abs) 2 lovely sound bitches in this class and I wish I had 2 red cards
1st McGowan’s Barrenclough Golden Charm at Westoak Lovely shape on this bitch with a sweet head and eye. Stood and showed attentively and moved very soundly as was to be expected from such a well constructed bitch. I really liked her and she looked lovely in her full coat. Res best bitch and RBIS
2nd Hodges’ Jopium Secret Fantasy JW Slightly heavier bitch than 1. Again, she showed very well for her handler. She has a nice head and expression with a lovely shape and good length of back. Nice bend of stifle and moved well. Just preferred the head of 1 but could change places on another day.
Open Bitch 7 (3 abs)
1st Corney’s Yenroc Fluer Di E’cosse Dark shaded sable bitch, a beautiful colour sadly lacking in todays collies. Pleasant head and eye but I would prefer more stop to complete the picture. Good ear placement and very attentive to her handler. She has an excellent shape and moved very well. Not as refined as I would like but still a very nice bitch.
2nd Ashe’s Starlenga Mysterious Girl at Forest Walk Gold S/W bitch in flowing coat with full petticoats. Nice head and eye and used her well placed ears when asked. Lost out on the near perfect movement of 1
