Rough Collies

First, I would like to thank Mrs Alison Scutcher and the rest of the committee for inviting me to Judge the Rough Collies and for looking after me at this very friendly show. Not forgetting the exhibitors who gave me some very good Rough Collies to go over.

In general, all my entries were of the type of Rough Collie that I like, of a reasonable size, without cow hocks and looking as if they would be capable of going to work. All my 1st & 2nd placings fit that description. Had heads with correct bite and teeth, well placed stop, almond shaped eyes, and ears which tipped as required. Good toplines, front and rear angulations and they all moved well, with not a cow hock in sight, so I will not bore you by repeating myself for each of them.

1st        Benton and Smith’s Brooklynsons El Dorado. A 13month old Golden Sable dog. Still has a bit of maturing to do, but very promising for the future.

Graduate 3 (0)
1st BOB                        Philpin’s Sassari Snow Shimmer for Tudorlyn JW. A beautiful 2 yr old Blue Merle Bitch with the sweetest of expressions and one of the best tails I have seen on a collie, carried to perfection even on the move.
2nd        Stillwell’s Bellawave Caught In A Dream. A faultless, aptly named 3 yr old Tri Coloured Bitch who could hold her own in any company.

1st RBOB          Philpin’s Tudorlyn Little Princess ShCM. A 7 yr old Lightly Shaded Sable Bitch still very capable of holding her own, even in the company of relative youngsters and for me today just had the edge.
2nd        Benton’s Brooklynsons Jane Russell of Oakestelle. A 3 yr old Golden Sable Bitch which again ticked all the boxes.
