Breed Notes
28th October

Some news from last week from Marianne Benton who went to Gravesend & Medway Open show where the judge for Breed, Group and BIS was Tim Ball. Ch Brooklynson Eldorado, owned jointly with Anne & Nick Smith took all before him and won BOB, PG1 and finally Best In Show.  With this win, Marianne was able to complete the application for his Show Certificate of Merit. Well done to all concerned.

Now to more show news, The Craig Community Centre at Bassaleg, Newport was the venue for one of the most welcoming and food friendly shows, the Collie Club of Wales Open show. Prior to the show the AGM was held with a few changes as follows: Marina McLaughlin was elected as the new Chairman and the following were co-opted to the committee, Stephani Flower, Abby Lusty, Kiera Martin and Amy Kinsey.  Now to the show, it was a smaller entry than usual for the Roughs with just 28 entries from 14 exhibitors. The judge for the day was Simon Walder (Hanvale) husband to Hannah Walder.  There were just 9 males entered, with 3 missing, leaving 6 waiting for his assessment.

Taking the first class of the day was Melissa Lockyer and her latest import, Very Special Angel Silvestre at Gataj. It is interesting to note, as speaking with Melissa she tells me that one of the main reasons for bringing him in is to improve health results on her existing kennel. Well done at Gataj. Originating in Belgium he is sired by Brian & Odile’s Beldones Toucher du Bois out of True Dream Angel Silvestre and born on 5th April this year and he won MP. Alone in Puppy was Aaronwell Ain’t He A Saint for John Congdon. This boy is sired by Redola Hot Off The Press to Aaronwell out of Riverside Song A Winter’s Tale of Aaronwell and he celebrates his first birthday next month. Melissa won Special Yearling with Gataj Out of The Woods, known at home as Woody and I am sure we can all recall his breeding. There were none present for Novice, Post Grad and Limit. Open had 3 entries, with 1 absent and this went of Rob & Margaret Shipp with No More Heroes du Clos de Sea-Wind. (Fr Ch Desperado du Clos de Sea-Wind ex Fr Ch I’m A Barbie Girl du Bois des Amazones). In Veteran, a mixed class had Pickpocket via Samhaven winning.

Best Dog went to Melissa and Gataj Out of The Woods, Reserve Best Dog to Flash (No More heroes du Clos de Sea-Wind for Rob & Margaret. BPD to Melissa and BVD to Pickpocket.

Smooths judged by Di Collino (Imaginist) and SAC Classes followed judged by Ian Lewis (Shemella) and his winners were:  Mellissa and her Very Special Angel Silvestre at Gataj won Junior, Melissa also won PG with Woody and Sue Beare won Open with Jemspark Maid In Secret.

Now to the ladies, and winning MP for Margaret & Rob Shipp was Tremaro Kind of Magic (Ch Magical Moon of Lowlands Green Valley for Chantique ex Perfect Decision du Clos de Sea-Wind. Secial Yearling was another winner for Melissa and Gataj Good Time Girl (Perfect Timing du Clos de Sea-Wind ex Nasty Girl du Clos de Sea-wind at Gataj) and she won a class of 3. Standing second in Sp Yearling, and winning Novice was Most Majestic Timeless Touch at Samshernik and Paul Ross. She comes from Hungary, bred by B Kriszla, sired by Ch Scottlyme Midas Touch ex Most Majestic Between The Sheets.

Sue Beare won Open with Jemspark Maid In Secret, a sable by Lynmack Thunderstruck out of Guilty Secret with Brilyn and home-bred. Best bitch went to Sue Beare and her Open winner, RBB to Gataj Honey Bee, BPB to John Congdon and Millubie Essence of Magic and despite standing 2nd in the mixed Veteran Class, Shelley Skinner was BVB with her Samhaven Time Is Money with Nikal (Ch Samhaven Time Will Tell ex Samhaven On The Money).
