Breed Notes
4th November 2022

It has been a long time coming for Britt-Marie Young to stand in the ring and award her 1st set of CC’s to our breed. Approved prior to Covid, the big day arrived. Midland Counties, at Stafford are another dog show society who hold shows with the exhibitor in mind. With sensible entry fees of just £25 per dog, and further stakes entry (with the same dog) of just £3 with a free car park and free admission. Probably due to these factors and the venue at Stafford is in easier reach for many, the result was a very good entry of 102 and a family affair it turned out to be, more later!

Starting at 9am Minor Puppy went to Blamorder Gold Plated for Holmes and Lusty. Tiganlea Thumbs Up won Puppy for Mrs N Deane. Brenda Welsh won Junior with Thistlewing Smoky Quarts. Mrs Chaplin and Takhisis Lysander (who had been 2nd in Junior). Lynda Boyle’s breeding featured in PG as the first 2 were the brothers; Barrenclough Diamond Dawn at Myjacks and Ellen Pullin and 2nd was Jackie Dix and Barrenclough Diamond Skies. Derek, Hazel and Isobel Allsopp won Limit with Aqualita It’s a Miracle.

Open was a strong class of 7, including 5 Champions and this went to Jo White and her Ch Mejola Fate and Fortune ShCex. He is a blue merle, homebred and sired by Corydon Once In A Blue Moon out of Corydon Femme Fatale of Mejola and born in 2016. This is his 4th CC having been made up at Southern Counties last year. Taking the RDCC was “Pedro” now in the sole ownership of Marianne Benton and his details were given recently when he won BIS at Woolwich & Bexley.

Veteran was won by Di Collino and her Wicani Altitude at Imaginist whilst Jackie Dix won Special Beginners dog beating another Barrenclough, Lynda’s B. Heart of Gold JW.

Minor Puppy bitch went to Libanel Everlasting Dezire for the partnership of Dodsworth and Carr. There was only 1 in Puppy, this and BPIB in her last puppy class, was Serenlas Pumpkin Spice for Stefani Flower.  Most Majestic Timeless Touch at Samshernik, owned by Paul Ross but well handled by Paige, won Junior. Melissa won Yearling with Gataj Good Time Girl. Post Grad was a nice win for Lorraine Quince and her Thistlewing Celtic Soul for Karafaye, a half sister to the PG dog winner. Valerie Geddes won limit with Ingledene Lace N’Grace.

Open bitch had 3 champions present and winning this was “Nellie”, aka Ch Saganan Blue Diamond JW for Gwen Beadon and Cate Arrowsmith, who then took her 7th CC.  One the breed’s latest Ch bitch collected her 8th RCC for Rob & Margaret Shipp when Ch Gillyflower Della Buca Delle Fate was placed 2nd.

Marianne Benton won Veteran with Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle and Libanel Everlasting Dezire (who had won MP) won the Spl Beginners class that had 6 entered.

BOB and representing us in the group was Nellie and Gwen, BPIB to Stefani and Saffi, BVIB to Marianne and B Spl Beginner to Libanel Everlasting Dezire.

A lovely message from one of our “newer” exhibitors in the breed, but not new to the canine world as Georgina Howard, daughter of Nick & Anne Smith and married to Cathy Howard’s son, who also works for Our Dogs let me know that her Serenlas Angel of Casatentola, not only was 2nd in MP but was also entered in the Eukanuba Puppy Bitch Stakes Pastoral and under judge Jenny Miller, she won this class. She is a daughter of the RDCC winner, Ch Brooklynson El Dorado out of Serenlas Yves St Laurent and born earlier this year.
