Breed Notes
24th June 2022
Another busy weekend with Championship shows in different areas of the country, at both Kelso
(Border Union) and Bridgewater for WECS.
I understand it was a little chilly at Spring Park, Kelso for our entry to be judged by Angela Harvey
(Wicani). Angela last judged at L&P in 2018 for bitches.
The long journey from Colchester, Essex certainly paid off for Marianne Benton, who piloted Pedro,
owned jointly by Nick & Anne Smith and Marianne to take the Open Class, and the CC and
subsequently his entry to the “Upper House”. His previous CC’s were won from Edith Pryor at Leeds
in 2021 and his 2 nd , more recently, at Southern Counties from Finnish judge, Dr A Paloheimo
Segersven. Sired by Shep’s Moondance with Jaysur out of Ch Brooklynson Miley Cyrus.
Interesting to note that Angela awarded Miley Cyrus her first CC back in 2013.
Winning the RDCC was a lovely win for Julie Edwards, who was handling Eleri’s, (who
was at home dog sitting) Ice, officially known as Phreelancer Chill Phactor for Elshajo,
who won Limit. Sired by One Extraordinary Blu di Cambiano out of Phreelancer Phaith
Hill and he adds this to his CC won earlier this year.
Other class winners were: Takhisis Lysander (Puppy); Gemheid Troubleshooter (Junior);
Cambrogan Sunny Seilebost at Conalglen (Novice); Post Grad went to Stregato Qui Velit
and Veteran to Imaginist Quo Vadis at Stregato.
Bitches had the following class winners: Serenlas Pumpkin Spice (MP); Ingledene Sno
Dream at Thistlewing (Puppy); Aqualita Dreams Come True won Junior; Novice went to
Ambartr Eternal Spirit. Glenoak Gold Brocade won Graduate and Imaginist Perfect Pitch
won PG. Serenlas Heaven In Blu won Limit and Takhisis Aphrodite won Open with Ch
Brooklynson Jayne Russell of Oakestelle won Veteran.
In the final bitch challenge the CC went to the winner of Veteran, Ch Brooklynson Jane
Russell of Oakestelle for Marianne Benton. Known at home as Keira and this was her 4 th
CC. Born in November 2014 and sired by Brooklynson James Bond out of Brooklynson
Joanna. The Reserve BCC went to the winner of puppy, Ingledene Sno Dream at
Thistlewing for a delighted Brenda Welsh. Bred by Valerie & John Geddes, who were
there to see this win, she is sired by Ch Ingledene Mercury Risin’ out of Ingledene Nite
N’Chanting and born July 2021 and is a blue merle.
Best of Breed and challenging herself was Marianne who had to call on the services of a
handler in the form of Sophie War-Ramsden who took this with Keira, Ch Brooklynson
Jayne Russell of Oakestelle who was automatically BVIB as well. BPIB to Brenda and her
blue bitch and although the winners stayed for the groups, it was only in the Veteran
Group did our breed gain a placing of 3 rd .
Now to the other end of the country for the next Ch show. This was at Bridgewater for
the West of England Collie Society headed by Sec Pete Cornish and Chairman Phil Amos.
This was an indoor venue but I am told that all the rings were generously carpeted with
plenty of room for all.
The judges for this event were Gee McEntee (Gerian) and Anne Hollywood (Amalie), with
Bev White officiating over the Smooths with CC’s. BIS and Referee was Nick Smith,
proud co-owner of the new Ch collie of yesterday.
It was not too long before results filtered through and I must thank everyone who kept
me up to date during the morning. The receipt of the pages via social media is a definite
help as often the Secretary and Winners do not contact me in time to meet the OD
deadline.
Gee last judged back in 2019 at British where she judged the males, and again today.
From her entry, her choice for his 1 st CC, handled by Luis, was Charlene Turner’s tri boy
who annexed his first reserve CC last week at London Collie and he won Limit. Travelling
down from Scotland (as were quite a few in the entry today) was the RCC winner also
from last week, who was Ollie, Ch Oakland’s Blue Style du Clos de Sea-Wind at Zolkhan
for Michelle McCann. So roles reversed.
Sorry to report but I do not know who won Veteran Dog as my information is missing
but there were just 2 entries here: Ch Jugband Blues du Clos DeSea-Wind via Aaronwell
and Aaronwell AyeBeeCee at Marketdene so maybe absent.
There were no MP and standing alone and winning Puppy was Robin Blaikie and his tri
boy, Kourika You’ll Do For Me and he was BPD. Junior, again alone was another tricolour,
Sherlock Holmes of Moon River for Chantique owned by Andre & Chantal Scott, his
details were given when he won the CC at the recent L&C show.
John and Caroline Tipper won Spl Yearling with Tiganlea True Hero, a sable, and
standing 2 nd , Corisian Parisian Magic then won Novice for the Brooker family. Graduate
went to Odile handling Beldones Toucher du Bois with PG being won by Brookynut
Storms Legacy who had been beaten to 2 nd in Graduate. ML went to Chantique Magical
Mystery who stood alone. Limit went to the eventual CC winner with the Open winner
taking the RDCC.
Now to the ladies, with Anne Hollywood judging. It has been some time since she was
centre stage, back in 2017 for the LKA was her last Rough appointment although she has
been busy acting as BIS judge at various Club shows.
Ladnar Inkheart took the first class of the day, Veteran, for Dave & Sue Randall and was
BVB and BVIB. Followed by Chantique Over The Moon winning MP for Chantal & Andre
Scott. Starlenga Nina Simone won puppy for the Walkers. Luis and Charlene won Junior
with Paulara Keep The Faith. Norma Larkin continued her winning ways by taking Spl
Yearling with Rahlissa Coffee Cake for Denora whilst alone in Maiden was Avonfair A
Million Love Song for Revdvicki and Vicki Burrows, handled by John Tipper. Only 1 in
Novice which was won by Samhaven Super Natural at Willowcombe owned by Mrs Mills of Devon and she had been 3 rd in Junior.
Michelle Mitchell won Graduate with Salsina Secret Love Song at Avonfair whilst another
Scottish raider, Starlenga All About Me won PG for the Walkers. Mid Limit went to
Chantique Déjà Vu for Chantal & Andre. Limit was Artziak Selena de Salsina for Jayne &
Carl Llewellyn and Chantique Cinderella at Starlenga won Open for Louise, Gary &
Margo.
In the challenge, Anne could find nothing to beat the Limit winner of Jayne’s and she
won her 4 th CC, repeating her success at London Collie last week. The reserve BCC was
the winner of Mid Limit, Chantique Déjà Vu and BPB was Starlenga Nina Simone.
I understand neither Anne nor Gee could agree for BOB and on the choice of the referee,
Jayne’s newly crowned Ch took the honour. BPIB and BPIS to the blue, Starlenga Nina
Simone.
Smooths were judged by Bev White and her choice for BOB was Ch Wynele Indian Ink
owned by Bob Naulls who eventually went BIS from Nick Smith with Inkheart Best
Veteran In Show and Nina Simone BPIS.
