Breed Notes
29th July

Some exhibitors have more stamina than others, as following a long hot day at Malvern, on Saturday. Sunday saw both Stefani Flower and Valerie Geddes take a much shorter trip to their local Open show, Oswestry where Janine Hanson (Jards) was judging. Stefani and Saffi annexed BPIB from Janine, she also on RBOB with her Serenlas Pagan Moon. Saffi won PG2 from Mrs J Cairns, whilst Val took BOB with Ingledene Fantasy in Blue and G2 at the same show.

At the other end of the country, Dawn Muir (Rayawna) judged at Bakewell and found her winner in Jo White and her Mejola Special Reserve and then took G1 from Brian Hindley (Yorlander) but nothing more.

Leeds, at Harewood House, had a good entry for Irene Buchanan-Green, who, I think is one of our breed’s first judge to come through via the “Grandfathering” system. Irene has spent time in the breed, being a Club show secretary, albeit in a “Caretaker” role. She is also an approved judge in many other breeds within our group and is based in Ayrshire. Irene had received a good entry, but, as usual, according to Higham, there were some 20 missing on the day.  I understand that the ring allocated to the breed, could have been a better size but with a short delay, judging commenced, as usual with MPD. Taking this was John & Caroline with their new baby Amalunaque Acturis Wind at Tiganlea, known at home as “Arty”. Puppy went to Kelly Crawford and her Stregato Foolish Guy.  Robin Blaikie took his Kourika You’ll Do For Me and won Junior. PG was won by Jo White and her Camanna Chasingclouds Over Mejola. Limit was won by Linda Watt and her Culbrae Red Again and Open fell to Michelle McCann with Ch Oakland Blue Style du Clos de Sera-Wind at Zolkhan. Lynda Boyle won Veteran with Barrenclough Moonglow and Lynda also won the mixed Spl Beginners class with Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW. A message from Lynda is as follows, and I am sure we can all understand: “Veteran Dog was won by 9 and a half years old Hogan - Barrenclough Moonglow JW ShCM.  His eldest grandson, Liam – B Heart of Gold JW – won Best Special Beginner – but to my bitter disappointment, we missed the Group, despite several trips across to the main ring. None of us was able to hear those announcements from the benches. I feel that I have let Liam down, as he was really on form. Maybe next time”   Thank you so much Lynda.

Taking his 6th CC was the blue merle, Ollie, whose details you must all be aware of. Taking the RCC back to Scotland was the Limit winner, Culbrae Red Again. Sired by Ch Beldones Double Diamond out of Chelborn Justified with Culbrae (Chelborn Decision ex Chelhaven Playing Around Chelborn) and this is, I think, his first major win. He was born June 2017. BPD went to John Tipper and Arty with Lynda winning VD.

In bitches, MP was another win for Stefani Flower and Saffi (Serenlas Pumpkin Spice) who comes out of MP on the 30th of this month. She was also entered in the AV Puppy Stakes, judged by Geoff Corish and managed a creditable 3rd and according to the show schedule also won a Eukanuba Bag – well done. Puppy went Odile Hawkins, handling their Beldones Sound Gold. Sophie Wray-Ramsden won Junior with Takhisis Summer Dawn and Julie Edwards won PG with Elshajo Adored. John & Caroline won Limit with their blue, Tiganlea Twinkling Star and Robin won Open with Kourika Kover Girl. Veteran was a nice win for Jo Hodges with Ch Jopium Love Heart JW ShCm.

Bitches was a 4th CC for Robin Blaikie and his sable, Ch Kourika Kover Girl, she has now won all 4CC’s this year and is the dam of Robin’s tri boy, now in Junior.  Taking the RBCC, back to Scotland, was the Veteran Lady of Jo Hodges who was also not only BVB but also BVIB.

BOB went to Michelle McCann and Ollie who put up a good performance in the group, judged by Richard Kinsey. I do know that John & Caroline stayed as they did ring and let me know of their good day.
