Breed Notes
25th February 2022
Back to report on the Yorkshire Collie Club’s Open show, held last Sunday and thanks to a lovely message from Sue Randall (Ladnar) I can confirm that BIS went to her and Dave’s tricolour lady Ladnar Inkspot, known to all as Dottie.
The show was judged by Tracy Gartland, perhaps better known for her Shetland Sheepdogs but has a lifelong interest in the breed being the grand-daughter of the late Mary Tweddle - Arcot
Males were a bit thin on the ground with the following winners: Barrenclough Diamond Skies (Veteran and Graduate); Takhisis Lysander (MP);Corisian Parisian Magic (P); Monsolana Aspire To Inspire for Barrenclough; Camanna Chasing Clouds Over Mejola (Limit) and Open with Takhisis Dream Weaver.
Best Dog went to the Open winner, with Corisian Parisian Magic RBD and BPD.
Bitches had the following class winners: Beldones Duchess of Dreams (Veteran); Mejola Main Event (MP) Uffspring Ultravox (Grad); Chantique Déjà Vu (PG); Ladnar Inkspot (Limit) and Paris Venise du Bois des Amazones for Corisian JW (Imp Fr) winning Open
Best Bitch was Ladnar Inkspot with Chantique Déjà Vu in Reserve and Mejola Main Event BPB. Best of Breed went to Ladnar Inkspot,
SAC Classes were judged by Cate Hollinshead and she found her winners in Breckamore Welsh Honey (Puppy); Barrenclough Diamond Skies (PG) and Jopium Danny Boy at Lingwell.
Smooths were judged by Julia Swann with Wynele Couldn’t She taking BOB with Koczkodan Steel My Heart BP and Ch Manordeifi Satin Doll at Koczkodan VW winning Veteran.
Sandra Wigglesworth (Sandiacre) was the judge for BIS and her choice was the tri rough bitch, Ladnar Inkspot, with the Smooth RBIS along with the BPIS also going to the smooth puppy but holding up the roughs was Beldones Duchess of Dreams who took BVIS.
Now to London & Provincial CC, who have not had the easiest of times recently, with the KC removing their CC status for future years, Cate Arrowsmith, previous Secretary returning home to Australia, and a new Secretary, one who has managed the club before, Di Collino (Imaginist) took over and thank you so much for sending over a marked catalogue and explanation! More of this shortly.
However, with their small committee they organised their annual Open show for last weekend at Bletchingly Village Hall, Nr4 Redhill Surrey. The judges were Pat Hutchinson (Karibuni) for Roughs and Sophie Wray-Ramsden for smooths and Gina Stillwell had been nominated as Referee but according to Di, her services were not needed. A nice gesture from the L&P was to offer all who attended a free drink and Butties on arrival as a way of thanking those who came, for their support. Well done L&P.
It was a rather small entry 31 Roughs and 8 Smooths, even before storm Eunice arrived! On the day, there were 16 absent, leaving 8 males for the 8 scheduled classes. Class winners as follows: Veteran, Shelley Skinner and Nikal It’s Gud to Be Black; Sue Howard, Anne Patterson and Valerie Newton and their Ladnar Dreamchaser winning Puppy; Jan Milligan handling Alfsden He Lives in You winning Junior and Alfsden Endless Night won Yearling for her and her partner. Tina May and Camanna Careerchanging at Maqueeba won PG, whilst Hanvale Arthur Shelby at Damos won Limit for Ellie Fuller. Active show supporter, Marianne Benton won Open with Brooklynson El Dorado owned jointly by Marianne and Nick & Anne Smith. BD went to Alfsden He Lives In Me, RBD to Hanvale Arthur Shelby whilst Shelly won BVD with Alfie and Sue took BPD with her blue.
In bitches, also judged by Pat, there were just 9 present with Tremaro Tainted Love at Rahlissa, known as Tamsin now just 10.5 years young, owned and handled by Shirley Daley taking Veteran. Jane Margetts won Puppy with her Collingvale Campari, who also won Junior. Yearling was Tudorlyn Alice In Wonderland for Linda Philpin whilst Stephen Clark with Starlenga Madam Cyn at Derbypark winning Graduate. PG went to Imaginist Perfect Pitch. Limit had Sassari Snow Shimmer at Tudorlyn owned by Linda and Jane Margetts won Open with Lynmead Lemonade at Collingvale JW
BB went to Imaginist Pitch Perfect, she is actually owned and bred by Di and a certain amount of subterfuge was invoked prior to judging as she was kept in the car until judging commenced and handled on the day by Ms Jenny Hopper. RBB to Starlenga Madam Cyn at Derbypark, BPB to Collingvale Campari and BVB to Tremaro Tainted Love at Rahlissa.
BOB went to Imaginist Pitch Perfect, RBOB to Madam Cyn, and BPIB to Campari and BVIB to Rahlissa Tainted Love.
Sophie had just 5 smooths present and her BOB was Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle for Marianne who also won BD with Oakestelle Vivaldi and BVIB with Oakestelle Venus de Milo.
BIS went to the Smooth for Marianne, RBIS to Imaginist Pitch Perfect, BPIS to Collingvale Campari and BVIS to Tremaro Tainted Love at Rahlissa.
