Breed Notes
11th February

More good news from Jane Spendelow and her Uffspring Unmistakable, who now carries an Agility Warrant (B) and is, I think, possibly the first rough to carry such an award which was won, STKC, last weekend. Henry, now just 8 years young still loves competing but as Jane reports, his age is slightly against him in this sport. So if any of you have more news of such wins, do drop me a message and I will gladly include here.
Meanwhile, preparations were being made for the Midland Collie Ch Show held at Coventry, last weekend and posted news concerning current Covid restrictions and requiring all to adhere to the current issues.
The entry listed in the catalogue was 105 total, made up of 40 males and 63 bitches along with a few NFC. At this point I must thank Secretary Hannah Walder for sending down the full catalogue and Jo White for sending class results.  The judges were dogs, Lene Newman (Phreelancer) and Kay Hateley (Mohnesee) on her first Rough appointment although she is well known in Shetland Sheepdog circles. Referee was to be Committee member Sophie Wray-Ramsden.

Finally, Kay arrived at Open and taking this class was Ch Jopium Love Heart JW ShCm, I am sure we all know her breeding, but just to refresh your memory she is sired by Ch Jopium Stole My Heart at Lingwell out of Riverside Song Venice Queen at Jopium and Eva was born in April 2015 and is owned and bred by Jo Hodges.
With all her class winners assembled, Kay made a short cut to 4, and awarded a first CC to Robin and Jazz (Kourika Kover Girl) to great applause. The RBCC went to Josh Blackburn handling his and Duna’s Erjon Ebony Jewels. Best Puppy bitch was Breckamore Pitch Dark, known at home as Bridget and although placed just Reserve in Open, Best Veteran bitch was awarded to Vikki Burrows and her Ch Tiganlea Tinkerbelle at Revdvicki beating the Veteran winning Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian.
At some shows the award of BVIB/BVIS can only come from those dogs actually entered in the Veteran classes and it is at the discretion of the organising society to make this absolutely clear as the official KC ruling only states, VETERAN For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.

Now to BIS and a slightly stunned Robin took this with his sable girl, BOS and RBIS to Val and Freddie. Best Puppy in show to Ann French with RBPIS going to Corisian Parisian Magic with Tinks taking BVIS as an early birthday present for owner Vikki Burrows.
