Breed Notes
5th August 2022
Stefani Flower and Saffi are certainly making their presence felt at Open show as well. Another message from them brings news of another good win. This time from Michelle Smee at Minehead & District CS where she annexed BPIB and PPG2.
Lovely news to read from Lancashire & Cheshire, in honour of the support received over the years from Gail Wilcox (Brentland) in Australia, she has been made President of the Club. This following her close association with the late Peter & Peggy Bailey (Beechwyre) with whom she spent time with on visits by them to Australia which were reciprocated when Gail visited the UK.
Now to the main event of the weekend, Midland Collie Club’s Open show, held, as usual at Edingale Village Hall, near Tamworth Staffs under the guidance of Secretary, Hannah Walder and Show Secretary/ Treasurer, Sophie Wray-Ramsden (who kept me up to date during the progress of the show, Thank you), along with other hardworking committee members as listed, Michelle Davis, Simon Walder, Jan Milligan, Charlotte & Lewis McLarty and Chairman Tracy Goodwin. Brian Hawkins is listed as President with Andre Scott as Vice Chairman
The judge was Julie Pembleton (Annalee); perhaps a new name to some but Julie has been in the breed for many years with one of her first collies, Annalee Avarna gaining a KCSB in 1988. She was sired by Ch Mybern’s Mandane out of Abbestone Angelina at Avarna. This was Julie’s 3rd Club Open show, previously she has judged at both Yorkshire and Ayrshire, back in 2014.
A generous offer, to all exhibitors, made by this club, of a FREE picnic lunch, provided mainly by Secretary Hannah Walder and Sophie Wray-Ramsden, who had quite a busy weekend, as she attended a breed club show with her latest winner, the ASD, known at home as Bruce.
The entry over 17 classes was listed in the catalogue as 48 but there were 5 NFC, leaving a nice entry of 43 dogs and included some 15 entries for the SAC classes. The SAC classes were judged by Ann French (Breckamore) during the lunch break with the following results: Kourika You’ll Do for Me winning Junior D/B for Robin Blaikie; John & Caroline won PG D/B with Tiganlea Twinkling Star and Open went to Dave & Sue Randall with the now, Ch, Ladnar Inkheart.
The first class of the day was a mixed Veteran, won by Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian for Pat, Emma and Jo Brooker. The highest placed male was Brenda Cooney and her Ch Jopium Stole My Heart at Lingwell (3rd) therefore able to complete in the challenge as an “un-beaten” male.
Minor Puppy dog followed which was won by John & Caroline with their Amalunaque Arcturis Wind at Tiganlea and with no other pups, was automatically BPD as there were just 2 on show.
Robin won Junior with Kourika You’ll Do For Me, whilst Corisian Parisian Moon, who took 2nd behind Robin, won Novice. Lynda Boyle took Graduate with Monsolana Aspire to Inspire over Barrenclough (Imp Rus). Lillyway Legacy won PG for Julie Growcott. Julie Edwards piloted Starlenga Harry Potter with Elshajo to win Limit and Open went to Robin and his blue merle, Kourika King Pin.
Best Dog went to Robin and King Pin, with Julie Edwards reserve with her sable, Starlenga Harry Potter, BPD to John and Caroline and RBPD to Vanessa Cronk and her new baby, Chelborn’s Gambling List.
After the lunch break, bitches followed with MP going to Vanessa and her new baby, Chelborn Gambler’s Wish. Puppy went to Dennis & Mary Beardsworth who stood alone with their blue merle, Maysinder Sapphire Reign. Luis handled Paulara Keep The Faith for Charlene Turner and Novice went to Hannah Walder handling Tamira’s Miracles Cornflake Girl for Hanvale (Imp Hun) who had been placed 3rd in puppy.
Barrenclough Touch of Silk won Graduate for Lynda Boyle whilst Uffspring Ultravox won PG for Miss E Rose. Limit went to Paris Venise du Bois des Amazones for Corisian for the Brooker family and the last class, Open went to Sue Beare and her Jemspark Maid In Secret.
BB was awarded to the Veteran winner, Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian and the rare sight of Pat Brooker handling the open winner was rewarded with Reserve BB with Paris Venise du Bois des Amazones for Corisian. Best Puppy bitch was Vanessa and RBPB to the 2nd in MP, Rev Vikki Burrows, handled by John Tipper, Avonfair A Million Love Song at Revdvicki.
Taking back all the lovely rosettes donated by the club must have made the long journey back to Sunderland seem somewhat shorter as Telforth Sweet Dreams to Corisian annexed not only BIS but also BVIS. Not forgetting RBIS which went back as well in the form of Paris Venise du Bois des Amazones for Corisian. Best Puppy in show was another lady in the form of Chelborn Gambler’s Wish for Vanessa Cronk with Avonfair Million Love Song at Revdvicki, known at home as Millie.
I understand the wonderful spread for lunch was appreciated by all and a great day was had by all. Many thanks for sending me the results, it really is appreciated. Well done to all.
