Breed Notes

Firstly, I have to thank both John and Caroline Tipper for their regular phone calls updating me on the winners on show days and at previous shows. How nice to sit at home and get news from the shows – long may it continue as it is much appreciated. Thanks also to Jo White who manages to send down the catalogue pages, these are also appreciated and gives and overall picture of the day. I understand that at Richmond,the morning started with a bit of rain/drizzle which for those now very adept at putting up their tents and gazebos gave shelter but the weather did improve later on. Richmond has a big show ground and the only tented areas were for the BIS/Group rings as each judge had their own tented area to work from.

This was our 17th set of CC’s to be awarded and the 6th new judge awarding CC’s for the first time this year and we now have 2 new Champions to gain entry to the upper house

Judging today was none other than Josh Blackburn, grandson and partner of Duna Jones, Erjon who was there looking on proudly
His entry was made up of 29 males, of which some  7 were marked absent and in bitches, there were 37 also with 7 absentees, which is about average now for a weekday entry

Class winners included Christine & Noel Collins with Triburle Chance of Passion who was originally entered in MP but then had to t/f to puppy. He is by Fridens Extra Chance at Salsina out of Salsina Share The Passion with Triburle and he also won Novice.
The MP winner was Melissa and the first of her 7 entrants although they were not all present on the day and this was Gataj Out of The Woods whose details have been given previously but he had to give way to Christine who eventually took BPD.

Junior had just one entrant, Melissa and Starlenga Elijah Blue at Gataj, as his name suggests, a blue, bred by the Walkers in Scotland and sired by Jealous Guy of Slatestone with Jopium out of Beldones Baby Think Twice at Starlenga.

Nice to read that Gwen Beadon and her Marvalan Spirit of The Rock, a tricolour, won Yearling. Bred in Poland by Martyna Nowakowska he is sired by Pol Ch Marvalan Dream Defender out of Marvalan Black Diamond for Daccaria and he was born Nov 2019 but has been waiting (as many still are) for his KC papers to be confirmed!

Jo White and her blue, Camanna Chasing Rainbows Over Mejola won Graduate; he is sired by Ch Erjon Ebony Joker out of Camanna Coolrain.

John Congdon and his tricolour, Starlenga All That Jazz at Aaronwell stood alone in PG whilst the Limit class had a full entry of 5. This was headed by John & Caroline with Tiganlea Turning Blue (Tiganlea Tone Down ex Tiganlea Little Trickster), known at home as Turner

Open had 7 entries, with 2 missing and this was won by Valerie & John Geddes with Ingledene Mercury Rising JW. (Freddie to his friends) A son of One Extraordinary Blue di Cambiano out of Ch Ingledene Spirit of Ecstasy and he was born September 2018.
Josh decided that his CC winner would be Freddie, thus making him up. His first CC came from Kari Jarvinen at Southern Counties in 2019 from Puppy, his 2nd from Trevor Hayward at Crufts 2020 and collected a few RCC wins on the way to his title. Although the 2nd in Open. Ch Skabona The Gambler at Chelborn was called in to challenge, the award of the RCC went to the winner of Limit, Tiganlea Turning Blue.

Now to the ladies, and starting with MP, John Tipper won this with the tricolour, bred by Vikki Burrows, Revdvicki Tahitian Pearl at Tiganlea. She is sired by Fridens Xtra Chance at Salsina out of Erjon Esme at Revdvicki

Val and John Geddes took puppy with Ingledene Sno Angel, (Ingledene Well Sooted ex Ingledene Sno Wanda) and she already has a RCC to her name.

There were no junior bitches and a single entrant in Yearling. A new name to some of Darsanian Daydream Euphoria, a blue bred by Mrs. S Cerjak, sired by Carluke Top Secret out of Dream In Blue of The Windylands. Interestingly, the dam is a daughter of One Extraordinary Blu di Cambiano as well. She is owned by Mrs. I Pidgley.

John Tipper quickly returned to the ring to take Novice with Tiganlea True Hearts Desire (Lillyway Latimer ex Tiganlea True Romance and local exhibitor (from Basingstoke), Monica Wells won Graduate with her sable, Amalie Just Annie at Terelimon. Bred by Anne Hollywood and sired by Ch Amalie Lynmead Live In Lover out of Black’nSassy with Amalie.

Post Grad was another daughter of One Extraordinary Blu (Piaf) in the form of Stefani Flower and her homebred Serenlas Heaven In Blue, whose dam is Serenlas Keeping Faith.

Jayne Llewellyn continued her wins, this time taking Limit with the dual CC winning sable, Artzaiak Selena de Salsina whose details we all know by now.

Hannah & Simon took Open with Hanvale Polly Shelby. Who made a telling return to the ring as in the challenge she won her 3rd CC and title. Her other CC’s came from Morag McCarte at Midland Counties in 2019 quickly followed by a second from Karen Colman-Smith at London & Provincial the same year and in-between she has collected many RCC wins. Sired by Ch Beldones Double Diamond out of Ch Beldones La Vita Bella for Hanvale. More congratulations to Simon and Hannah, as this is the first Hanvale Champion actually bred by them as the others have been either bred by “Mum” Valerie Setchell or others. Well done for keeping the kennel name going.
The RCC went to Steffani and Eden, the PG winner and BPB was Val and Sno Angel.

BOB went to Val and Freddie and BPIB went to Christine and her sable boy, Cody. Christine did let me know that due to prior family commitments, she was unable to stay for the puppy group. Thank you for this information.

Now to Irish Collie and Belfast, there has been much speculation concerning the “Passport Requirements” for travel between the UK and Northern Ireland. Anyone who is still in doubt is advised to contact the Secretaries, Grenville Francis (ICC) or Jackie Stubbs (Belfast) for clarification.

I, along with others are very grateful to the Officers and Committee of the British Collie Club for producing their 2021 Book of Remembrance. It makes some sad reading, realising the names our breed has lost over this past, difficult year but also brings back many memories of good times.
