Breed Notes
26th November 2021

Well it was a very long time coming, but at last the Irish Kennel Club were able to hold an All Breed Ch Dog Show, albeit outside, at Navan Racecourse in November! Just about 22 months since the last one held.

Although outside, the sun shone but the temperatures kept low but I am sure that all who attended, enjoyed meeting up with friends and showing again. Well done to all involved.

Our breed is in F.C.I G1 and the judge for the day was Ger Cox. With a good entry of 22, 10 dogs and 12 bitches.
Puppy Dog was won by Dermot and Maureen Timmins with Beldones Hunky Dory at Kynan. Adult Male was won by Sean O’Brien and his Ezzmare Winner Takes It All at Seanchrois. Open had 3 entries with Ballahanna Let Battle Begin and Miss M Delaney. Ir Ch Hawkfield’s Return To Sender at Daliyhaa Jun Ch and CW19, owned by Tom Wall and Alan Walsh took this. Veteran was won by Peter and Pam Savage with Savataurus’s Only The Lonely, who carries his Vet Ch, CVW19 and VW titles.

Green Star Dog went to Tom and Elvis, with Dermot and Maureen taking Reserve GS with the puppy winner.
In bitches there were 2 in the Baby Puppy class, headed by Curraghoo Royal Ribbon Blue for David Joyce. Avril Kelly won Puppy with Evalane Loveable Lockdown whilst Sean O’Brian won Junior with Seanchrois Jewel’s Joy. John, Mary and Alan Walsh took the Intermediate Class with Skabona What A Lady at Joshren. Mary McNally won Adult Bitch with Fridens Touch Time with Copamage and Open Bitch went to Tom Wall and Daliyhaa Priscilla In Blue (a daughter of his GS tri boy) and with it the Green Star.
The reserve GS went to Donohill Could This Be Magic for Kynan, placed 2nd in Open. At the end of the day, Tom won Best of Breed with his tri boy and Reserve BOB with his daughter. There were no Veteran Ladies entered so Savataurus’s Only The Only ended up BVIB. There is no award for BPIB under the rules at this show.

A little nearer to home, the Dancol Jones family had a long but successful day at their local show, Hyde & District where their Brooklynson Black Diamond with Dancol (Kodi) won BOB and Pastoral G1, also taking BVIB and Best Pastoral Veteran was Steve & Jan Williams with Essenjay Dark Moon Rising. The judges concerned were Breed & Group, Colin Russell (Jestikka) and Karen Stirk (Grakar) for BIS.

Yorkshire Collie held an Open Show on Sunday, with Johnny Reid (Catchwell/Ronansprey) judging. The entry was 47 Roughs, with about a dozen missing and classes with just 1 or 2 present. SAC classes were judged by Anne French (Breckamore) and Smooths by Ms D Bell. The first class of the day was Special Beginners D/B won by Tiganlea Something Blue for Mrs A Selwyn, followed by Veteran with none on show. MP was Corisian Parisian Magic for the Brookers and also won Maiden. Puppy went to Miranda and Corydon Krug. Junior was bred by Maxine Mellish in the form of Demelewis Silver Spur at Corydon owned by Miranda who ended up BPD
Graduate was Barrenclough Diamond Skies for Lynda Boyle with Limit taken by Corisian French Connection JW, again for the Brooker family. Open and Best Dog was Jopium Danny Boy at Lingwell for Brenda Cooney. Although I did hear the award for BD etc was not made until the end of the day, which, in my opinion is a tad unfair for anyone with a long journey, as between dogs and bitches, Debbie Bell judged the smooths and Ann French judged and found her SAC class winners in Corydon Krug, Corydon The Grandmaster and Brooklynson El Dorado. Then the bitches started with Telforth Sweet Dreams To Corisian JW taking Veteran and RBB. Corydon Belle Époque was entered in both Puppy and Maiden and took these classes. Graduate went to Ladnar Inkspot for the Randall’s and PG was Siluto Over The Blue Moon for Gill Whittaker. Open was Monsloana Love Style Over Barrenclough.  BB went to Ladnar Inkspot who was also BOB and RBIS as the smooth Sp/Port/UK Ch Winter Is Coming to Tentola was BIS
